Wow, is this in Neocraft?
We could have a modern city community project like there maybe?

He built this thing in Al-Medina

First, I told him it doesn't fit in with the city.
I asked him to change it but he said it fits in fine, I don't think it does, at all, in a city based on a culture that is basically known for it's ornamental architecture, a box of sand is extremely out of place.
Since I'm not a mod on the server, it doesn't feel right for me to demand he change it, and since I haven't seen Ark I had to post this here.
Thoughts? should he or should he not change it?

Barnaby_Jones said:yeah, he agreed to start rebuilding it to make it more ornamental. Not that I'm endorsing cutting the guy some slack, he is new to the game and he's still got a ways to go in terms of gripping the game and decorative technique.
I'll try and give him as many pointers as I can (i know him irl... I'm Jordan actually haha) to get him up to speed. He's not really experimented all that much with the single player element either which means that a lot of the stuff he is building is primitive sadly.
Bootaaay said:OK, this is doing my nut in - has ANYONE come across a large and flat grassy plain on the server? There's one RIGHT behind Al-Medina, but that's too close to the city to start building there. I've walked for AGES trying to find some flat space that hasn't been built on yet, but it's mostly way too mountainous and I was hoping to not have to do a ton of landscaping![]()
I finished taking down a bunch of blocks just sitting in the sky lol.Barnaby_Jones said:yeah, he agreed to start rebuilding it to make it more ornamental. couldnt you just put a lava and water source on either side? piston closes, cobbe is created in the empty space when the lava/water meet. piston opens, pushing cobble away and creating a new empty space.Jasoco said:It probably won't move water or lava the way you think it will. And even if it did, it wouldn't pour into a hole and fill it up.
As you can see from the video. When a piston expands into water, it deletes the water from that area. It does not push it to the side.

I'm also having problems downloading pics from Abload, but rarely. 99% of the time Abload is awesome.nismogrendel said:SD that build looks awesome in the thumbnails but the full size pics are taking way too long to load for me. Anyone else having probs viewing them?
Plenty, yes =)Ark said:You've had quite a few chunk errors in that world, lol![]()

10 months worth of chunk errors due to Minecraft udpates![]()
Nope, but I have a hunch, of sorts.Ark said:Have you worked out how many blocks you'd have to mine out yet? The number itself would probably make me choke!
-SD- said:Nope, but I have a hunch, of sorts.
I've mined around 300,000 of various blocks since April 19th when statistics was implemented. I started to really get to work on those mega projects in January or so. That is around six months of time used: 6 x 150000 = 900000. So, maybe one million is the total. Could be less or much more. Hard to say.

It's not really annoying... Just bizarre lol.
ArtistDude88 said:If I watch the stuff cook, it will come out to 64.
And I always put the stack of 8 coal in first, so I don't think putting it in slow would do me anything :u

What do people think about making the server public, but with a whitelist. Ala posting it up on the MC forums? The server payment comes up again in just over a month, and I'd like to see 17 players online at least once. I know I haven't been active lately but I plan to change that this week.

Mengy said:I have nothing against it, but I think we need to be aware of the consequences of doing so. There will be more griefing, and if we want to avoid that we will need better ways of preventing and controlling it. Or we can just simply accept that as part of the server from now on and take our buildings and constructions lightly and less seriously. Because the server would change, and it would not be the same as it is now. You will get many more people wandering off for long treks, running up the world file size. You will get much more people building out of place things, our community projects with themes would be much harder to "enforce". And we would all have to be okay and comfortable with the occasional greifing and toe stepping, because it would happen. But yeah, we would get more users.
I guess the question I have is this:
What is more important, having 17 players online regularly, or having a secure and safe server we can build things in with a community feel? If we can achieve both, then hell yeah I'm all for it. Of course, we run the risk of it becoming so popular and busy that none of us will ever be able to log on, lol.
Toki1776 said:This is basically my feeling on the subject. Also, having a whitelist will require a bit more work for the admin, and it would be difficult to tell if someone is a griefer before they're added to the list. If we could work it so that a mod or admin is almost always online, it would help prevent this, though the mods may have to do a bit more "moderating", as opposed to being able to focus on projects.

Easier to manage too I suppose. Right now it's like you're paying for 17 players for nothing. :/
