If you are correct and your router is configured to block minecraft, CHANCES are it is set up only to block HTTP, and wont block minecraft from connecting to the update and authentication servers. You may be able to simply use another PC outside of your house, sign up for an account and pay for the game, then toss the .exe on a CD and run it on your home PC. No promises though, it depends on if its actually being blocked and if so HOW it is being blocked.
I cant help but agree with everyone else though, unless there is some extreme prejudice against gaming in your household, I cant see why blocking minecraft would be anything but accidental.
how do you build an underwater base? do you like dive down and stack dirt until you have an island the size of what you want and then dig downwards and build your base. and then remove the barrier? doesn't the water get all fucked up then with a ton of currents?Ark said:

I would stick around but i am done with building and stuff in ex servers. All i want is party expeditions! Journey to the unknown lands and cave system for the new CAVETOWNS and OCEANTOWNS!

Anyway, I suggest you getting some coal (in the default theme it's some cobblestone texture with black spots on it). You can usually find it on the sides of hills or digging a little bit. Then get some wood, make sticks, put the coal and the sticks together and you get torches.

Started a new project on the server, a huge-ass walled city. Here's the area I'm using - it doesn't look like much from the map, but the centre of the area rises into a tight bunch of mountains with a deep river canyon running in between and either side there's a ton of ground to plan out an ordered city layout;
Here's the plan of where I'm going to put the city wall, which will have guard towers along it, 3 gate-houses at the north, east and south sides of the city and a bridge spanning the mouth of the lake to the south;
The circled area in this picture is where I've started - I've made a plaza and a half-dozen plots for large town-houses/mansions. The spots numbered 1-3 are individual peaks that could house single castle towers, while the area I've marked with 4 is a large raised area perfect for a fort overlooking the cliffs. The north side of the city will be for larger buildings, mansions/temples/gardens etc, while the south could have poorer housing, work-shops, farms, etc and the east side will be the harbour;
And here's what I've done so far;
Obviously this is going to take me an age to finish on my own - I'm going to make a start on the city walls in a bit, but once I've got the boundaries of the city sorted and made a few more plots anyone is more than welcome to come build here. I'm looking to mostly use cobble and stone with some wood for the theme, and have any towers topped with red wool spires.

Finally gave it a shot with the Humble deal. Game doesn't perform very well. All I really got out of this is a very strong hope that the Xbox version will be worth it, done by good coders and artists (some of the mods have very nice style - default is ehhh), and ones wise enough not to use Java!
