Minecraft |OT2| Punch Your Way to Your Own World

What's up with food suddenly restoring less of the hunger meter? The other day melon slices were restoring 5, now they're only doing 1 D:

I noticed this last night and was a little confused/sad myself.

I was clearing out some terrain and went through a stack of bread in no time. I could see the community farms being more important now which is a plus.

Actually, the way food is on Neocraft now is how it's been in single player since food was incorporated. I was constantly wondering why food wasn't working properly on the server, lol, but now it is. You are supposed to only get a little bit of the hunger bar from food when you eat, that's why it's better to "top off" right away rather than let it deplete a whole lot. And yeah you have to eat regularly, especially if you are sprinting a lot, that's why all food stacks now. Farms are very important now, and I like it.

It's weird, on the SSP seed I'm playing on I have still yet to find a single village - I've seen a few of them in my other worlds, sometimes multiple close together, but this seed doesn't seem to have any nearby. I was looking for one yesterday because Sphax (of PureBD Craft texture pack) just added awesome new villager textures to the pack that I wanted to check out.

Argh... I wanted to finish my towers today, but alas that won't happen, seeing how the server has been down since the 'restart' thing... :/

Enchanting and brewing has changed everything. Seriously, brewing is rad, especially now that you can throw damage potions at enemies.

Yeah it sounds really good. I never understood the hype for minecraft but now it has basically turned into a 3d rougelike for me with the addition of hardcore mode.

I need to upgrade to Sphax, just got MCpatcher for 1.9.4.

That said, I'm considering taking all the village buildings and saving them individually in MCedit and creating a massive village in my desert.

Yeah, all we need is randomly placed enchanted gear in chests (loot!) and more types of ore underground (coal, iron, lapus, gold, and diamond is getting old).

But seriously, randomly enchanted weapons and items being placed in chests in dungeons/strongholds/the Nether would really make it feel like a roguelike or loot whore game. :)

I hope Neocraft is online tonight. My plan is to sit down with a beer and some snacks and work on my fortress for many, many hours. Hopefully I can get the roof on and dig out the basement workshop / vault so I can move my stuff from the Ark into my Fortress. If the server is down I may be forced to play Starcraft 2 and suffer defeat after unending defeat...

Hopefully, yeah. Also, when you go to the ark take a look at what I'm building! (two towers connected by a bridge.. I will also add a building on the left side and make a better looking harbor for the Ark ships)

Do mushroom still spawn thru walls? I have a setup like this:

Code:
X ----
X ----
M XXXX

M = shroom
X = wall
- = open space

I've had this sitting for a good while and not a single mushroom has spawned :s

•Axe of Silk Touch I (Silk touch makes it so you get the block that you break. For instance breaking a glowstone block gives you a glowstone block instead of dust)

  1. Find Stronghold
  2. Pick up Silverfish blocks
  3. Place randomly in homes and other structures, sometimes obviously, sometimes replacing an existing block
  4. Record

Apparently the servers are down for maintenance, so hopefully NeoCraft's machine will be up sometime later this afternoon/evening.

Sorry about not making a warp to the Ark's by the way, I'll do that whenever I can next get online, I was in kind of a rush last night :(

Wops, sorry I just sent you a PM at about the same time as you wrote this!.

Anyway, server maintenance sucks, but hopefully it's up soon. What time is it over there now? Also, what's the name of the hosting service? I wanna take a look :p

I, for one, will miss the square sun and moon. To me it was iconic, original, and pure Minecraft. In the end I really don't care too much as it won't effect gameplay at all, but yeah, I liked them square. :(

Just had another thought about the recent changes. Picture a hardcore server where there was global PVP and players created their own factions/keeps to survive attacks from other players or even team up to take down things like dragons.

Trading and and selling enchants, weapons maybe even buildongs.

I've actually wanted some multiplayer only blocks added, maybe in a later update.

Mail boxes, trading chests, for example. Maybe you get a list on the right side of all the blocks, ala creative, and you put an item in the chest, then drag and drop the number and types of blocks you're willing to trade/"sell" your block for.

Not me. The last thing I want is to make Minecraft into an MMO. Sure, a market with items for sale sounds nice until you realize that once gold becomes something of worth then everyone will start farming the entire map for stuff just to sell it on a market (instead of farming it to build things and be creative). I don't want the focus of Minecraft to switch from being creative to making money. This game has been refreshing because it DOES NOT have things like economies and gold farming and people plundering all of the mossy cobble and obsidian and sandstone just to "corner the market".

I've given plenty of materials away to people online simply when they asked in game chat for something. I like that feeling of community and helping each other. Introducing money into the system would only serve to nerf that in my opinion.

But I am still 1.8 and on NeoCraft :\

Hmm ... dunno then. Melon slices have always only restored 1 food point for me. I think bread do 2 or 3, chicken 3, and beef 4 or something like that. I haven't noticed any change in either of them over the last few updates (single player this is), but I haven't played any 1.9(3) so no idea about that one.

Edit: Also;

Oh, in pre-4 you can press F3+T to reload the current texture pack. Could be helpful for texture pack makers

I don't think you're looking at this the right way - it would be a player-run economy, not NPC controlled. That entails a lot more than simply letting people roleplay as blacksmiths or whatever. You never give gold to an NPC, get some form of currency and then never see the gold again (like every other game). The Gold is just in the possession of another player. If you sell Gold that Gold is then literally directly used to build something that will be in the same world you inhabit. If someone goes crazy and strip-mines 10 chunks worth of Cobble than all that Cobble will actually eventually be used to build something anyways.

So, in that sense it's just a very organized trading network for builders, there would be no reason to farm resources in Minecraft UNLESS you were going to build something - that's the only incentive. You won't buy an epic chestplate on the auction house like in WoW or sell your Minecraft toon on Ebay, there's no character progression, and an extraordinarily small item progression.

Minecraft could never really be like a traditional MMORPG in that sense.

Eh, I could think of a dozen things off the top of my head that I'd rather see Notch implement before something like a multiplayer email and market:

- birds
- stained glass
- colored lights
- carpets
- furniture (or the means to make detailed furniture out of smaller block pieces)
- corner blocks for detailing
- either more cocoa beans or a way to farm them, or another way to get brown dye
- rare boss versions of current mobs
- ridable pigs, like you can control them
- underground biomes
- volcano biome
- crater biome
- ocean floor biomes (coral reefs and unerwater vegetation)
- more ocean creatures, sharks and fish and eel and such
- make powered minecarts usable and worthwhile
- climbing ropes
- diving helmet & mining helmet with moving light sources
- hang gliders

I'd take any one of those over in game email and markets, IMHO of course.

Heh, don't get me wrong, me to... I don't even play Minecraft multiplayer. I was kind of just replying to your post in general - I didn't see the mail/marketplace request, I thought we were just talking about player trading economies as they can theoretically work right now on a multiplayer server.

You don't want me to start listing everything I want in Minecraft, I'll take up a couple of pages worth of posts!

Anybody have a Multiplay server? Every time I try to start my server, it says failed to upload to hern3. Any ideas on how to fix that?

The one thing in mine craft that i can't do yet is fly. I really want to fly. I don't mean fly mode or anything like that. I mean a glider or airplane.

Alright guys as some of you know on Ark's server I'm planning on making the above, but due to height restrictions I'll need to dig a 150 by 150 hole 16 blocks deep. Who's up for helping?

I'm waiting till 1.9 to search for the right place, but it'd be good to get some support.

There are already a number of mods that do this. If that's what you want it's easy enough to find. I'd rather Mojang focus on bringing new things into the game and fixing bugs than just copying what is already out there.

I know this, like I said I wasn't saying what Mojang should add to the game. I misinterpreted the conversation - I was just explaining that it's possible to maintain a player-run economy without it breaking down into gold farmers like it does in an MMO... as can probably be evidenced by these mods and servers you're talking about.

You know if it didn't become a gold farm it would turn into conflict diamonds. Everyone puts diamond on top of their "can't have enough" list.

Can the map be reposted/updated?

I'd like to see where civilisation is. Right now from the Arks I can't see anything and I don't want to go wander and make the map big...

Thanks for offering to help guys! It'd be a great help.

I do have a slight dilemma though.

The stone portions of the castles are fine, but the white portions of the castle may cause a problem. I could use wool but it would take an absolutely long time to get a significant amount of.

Is there talk of an easier to mine white block?

It's playing with fire but yes you can.
The thing is, the way the game is coded, a previously generated chunk of map will never update in a subsequent version. This means you always need to explore more in order to see/use the new stuff/updates. Also, if there's a new biome added of changes in the terrain generation, it creates messy borders between old and new chunks.
