EDIT: Ended up finding my base, whoever built that tower just buried it under some dirt, but still, the mountain was obviously being used.

You've been able to convert currencies with live exchange rates on the internet for years now. Unless the conversion rates are out of sync between that site and the donation site, but then you're screwed anyway.

When it's day it doesn't really get dark underground at all. And the torch light pattern has changed also.

EDIT: Ack, be careful everyone, there is a bug in the new snapshot that can corrupt worlds. So if you are going to play this new snapshot, back your world up first!!!

I doubt I will ever reach the height limit again. Looking down from Y=170 is already more than enough for me. The world is so small and it hurts that you can't see further the higher you are up. It's not exactly a pretty sight when being up there because you see exactly where the world ends.

Yep, I just read about that a minute ago. Also:

- Villagers will now breed and have children to repopulate after zombie attacks
- Jungle biomes confirmed to generate in old maps!!! We shouldn't ever need to make a new map to get new biome features ever again!

So I'm not going to start a new SSP world afterall, I don't think I'll ever have to again. Man, that just sounds nice to say it out loud.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. I doubt I'll get up to layer 256 very often either, the draw distance limit really is obvious up that high. I'm much more excited about being able to build big structures on top of the highest mountains in the game. And being able to set those mountain tops to have snow on them. Just a little above the clouds is fine with me, but it is nice to have the option to go higher when needed.

You click on the link...

This will give you a .zip, rename it .jar

Then go into your application data folder (might be invisible), then into "roaming", "Minecraft" and "bin". In there you back-up the current .jar and place the new one.

I get the new biome in my 1.0 world but I don't seem to get any ocelots. They are running around in the dozens in my 1.2 world jungle so it might be just coincidence or that is the real problem here.

Won't matter, the additional 128 blocks are empty space that is added on top of your existing worlds. And all maps seem to be converted to 1.2 when you first load them in that version, so it shouldn't matter.

Just logged on to the GAF server for the time and I am rather impressed.
There's so much to see! But my first port of call was a nearby dark looking tower. I fell a few times, but made it up to the Libram and the view is just amazing.
Big props to Almeister indeed.
Now to investigate that ship and mech I see!

Sure thing. Just made a new world real quick and threw together a couple noob towers

For reference, the tower on the right goes to the old build ceiling, while the one on the left goes all the way up to a glorious y=256.

View from the shorter tower.

And a view from the tall tower.

As you can see, you can pretty much see as far as the game will render from that height. As Mengy said, the view from up there is kind of brought down by the fact that you can easily see where the render distance ends.

Also, all those shots are with the view distance on Far. When it's on anything less, you can't even see the ground from the top of the tall tower.

I'm less annoyed about something like that. It was kind of complicated, and out of his hands for a while, maybe, I don't know, I think that's the gist of it. I don't even play on the GAF server, so I didn't bother to follow it that closely.

But waiting for some useless plugin to update before updating the server itself... What a waste. Although sometimes it is the host's fault, and not the people paying for the server.

I'll guess it's a bug with how the new chunk system handles lighting. Water should totally look like that in tropical biomes though.
