I honestly think any woman that has plastic surgery should be DQ'd from events like this.

A lot of transsexuals starve themselves because if they don't they tend to have a manly frame.

This girl looks pretty decent, early hormone therapy is key imo. Still has a bit of that plastic surgery look which is a shame.

I've never really heard anything to your first point.

She went through hormone therapy when she was 14. Like shidoshi pointed out, that probably affected her development a lot since she wasn't a fully-developed male by that point.

As someone else stated, protest against the discrimination against the pregnant women aswell, shit there is no greater display of a woman than a pregnant woman ...... it is the distillment of womanhood.

Good grief.

I don't see a problem with his at all, they run it... they make the rules.

Hahaha... Gotta disagree there buddy. If anything, I'd protest to keep them out.

Well considering they couldn't tell this woman used to be a man it would be impossible to inforce such a rule, it would also make 99% of the contestans inelegible.

What a shame.

She's really pretty too:

I guess one could make an analogy to professional sports and illegal steroid use, but even still, I wouldn't begrudge pageant contestants for undergoing plastic surgery. Then again, it does give an advantage to those that choose to undergo surgery, and thus an incentive to do more to increase one's odds of winning. But it's still not as dangerous as drug abuse (If there are stats that indicate otherwise, then I'd like to see them), so I'm okay with it.

That's neat, oh wait no its not. IDC if you would date her or not. That's not the point of this thread..

I care. Poster delivered the mandatory knee related comment that is to be posted in threads like this via GAF protocol.

Just so we're clear, I'd date her.

This is one of those tricky situations that people view very differently.

Personally I think the situation certainly sucks for her. However at the end of the day, she's still a man genetically. No amount of surgery and hormone treatment can change that. With that in mind, I think the organizers of the pageant are well within their rights to DQ her.

Its silly that canada would even pick her..

When she couldnt even place top 3 in the international transsexual beauty pageant. Loooser.

this show is not Breaking Bad why is it not Breaking Bad? it should be Breaking Bad dammit Breaking Bad
She had a gender change, and now she is a female, and completely eligible for the contest. This is just discrimination.

I think beauty pageants are stupid. That being said, I think the above analogy should illustrate why people might think it appropriate to exclude surgical enhancements from beauty pageants.

Eh. You're talking about a pageant where the woman who wins has her eyebrows shaped, a brazilian wax, is wearing eye shadow, concealer, lipstick, blush, flattering lingerie, heels, and curled (or straightened) hair. I probably even left some shit out. But plastic surgery? That's too much? Really?

The problem I have with comments like this is that it isn't just surgery. Some transgirls have operations for things like re-shaping the bone structure of their faces or whatnot, but others are the way they are simply due to hormones and/or lucky genetics.

Jenna started hormone replacement therapy at the age of 14, meaning that she probably went through little to no male puberty. That would be far more responsible for her looks than any downstairs surgery—something that would do nothing for changing how passible she looks when you see her.

That's also what really makes this story worse in my mind—her transitioning in early puberty. If we want to make the argument that there's some "realness" scale, then she would certainly count as being more "real" due to that point.

I've had quite a public transition, I made no secrets about it, a lot of people knew about it. The amount of people I heard saying I must have had an awesome surgeon... I haven't had any surgery.

A contest that has physical beauty is already shallow and inherently unfair to people not born with what society deems desirable, but I can see one argument against plastic surgery being allowed. It's expensive to the point where you could argue that whoever is richest will win because they can afford the most surgeries. The makeup and other stuff isn't prohibitively expensive. So if you wanna make it fair for all income ranges, you gotta ban that.

But like I said, if physical beauty is a factor, there's already unfairness based on genes.

I am afraid that is open to interpretation.

I agree that this person should be free to call themselves female, but I personally as a heterosexual man would not consider this person a woman .... and I believe most heterosexual men would think the same.

I would not sleep with her, I would still consider her to be a man.

Does that matter to this person in question? ..... I hope not and dare say they could not give a fuck about what I think, I fully support their freedom to choose gender reassignment and to be legally considered a woman ......... but biologically I do not consider her to be.

This I believe is the cornerstone of such issues.

Well, the difference between superficial makeup and minimally invasive surgery is big enough to warrant a line, if one were to be set.
I was going to say this in a much more complicated way, but this is the essential point.

Do you oppose doping in sports? It's the same idea. Think bodysuits in swimming or track.

All the makeup can be taken off, but plastic surgery is like a permanent enhancement of the body.

I just find the whole plastic surgery arguments go to far bogus, too far in terms of what? The whole thing is built around "fake." If there is an endemic of women modifying themselves and dying just to keep up with these things, then by all means. Hell shut the thing down. They just reinforce shitty standards anyway.

I can't speak for most hetero men, but I'd still consider her a woman. That doesn't change the fact that she has a Y chromosome, but gender identity is more than that, imo.

Not when you have Jburton's simplistic gender = sex = chromosomes worldview!

Why has my post been taken so badly, I tried to not be offensive, I fully support transgender people in their quest for rights ...... I was just trying to give an opinion.

Well the "fake" thing to me isn't why I would be okay with the ban... just the fact that it's expensive enough to the point where rich people REALLY have an advantage.
