Oh that's right...
On another note.
They need pitching more than anything else to make noise in October. I heard the White Sox have two pretty good starters available, although I'm not sure the Astros are a good match.
cant wait to see them sign harper, otani...
Sale and who else?
Sale would be... very expensive.
Astros signing Josh Reddick to a 4yr deal. It's pending a physical
Can Harper handle being only the second best hitter on the team?
Sale and who else?
Sale would be... very expensive.
Jose Quintana, who should be almost equally expensive.
Bregman would have to be included and then some, but from what has been speculated, the White Sox really don't like the Astros prospects that much compared to the Red Sox or Dodgers.
Trout wins MVP, while the voters give Porcello the Cy?
wat
Las Vegas Athletics!
They can always move the LA minor league team from Vegas to Oakland in exchange!
Oh god. The Raidahs and the A's... in Vegas?
Seeing rumors the Rays are interested in Jason Castro. The dude is garbage. No thanks to a terrible Astros catcher who sucks at the plate and behind the plate for a 2nd straight offseason. Let someone else trade for him please.
He's good at pitching framing, but yeah, he sucks other than that.Seeing rumors the Rays are interested in Jason Castro. The dude is garbage. No thanks to a terrible Astros catcher who sucks at the plate and behind the plate for a 2nd straight offseason. Let someone else take him please.
Mike Trout was voted for on every ballot, 19 first place votes, eight second place, one third, one fifth, one seventh #Angels......
lmao.
Are you saying they shouldn't have? Also where's my avatar?!The Yankees got an actual prospect for that hardo?
Abreu has a 4 pitch starter mix, Guzman touches 101-103 and is most likely to be a reliever. What did The Astros give up for McCain?
*edit nvm. Two power arms? Bullpen bound.
The Yankees got an actual prospect for that hardo?
BELTRE GOT A FIRST PLACE VOTE?
Lel.
Of course not. It's the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Pretty Good. No room for losers there.Yeah, but is Mike Trout even a HoFer?
An investment firm that is run by Mitt Romney and his oldest son, Tagg, made an attempt to purchase the Miami Marlins, a move that could have given the former Republican presidential nominee a top role in the 23-year-old baseball franchise.
Solamere Capital, a Boston-based firm that Mitt Romney has been closely associated with, over the past several weeks has shown increasing interest in owning the team.
But it appears the deal fell through.
We [had] been looking at the Marlins on behalf of some of the families that are a part of Solamere, said Matt Waldrip, who works in business development and external affairs at Solamere. He indicated the transaction almost certainly was not moving forward.
Waldrip said that Mitt Romney who sits on the firms investment committee was involved in the decision-making over the purchase, but he was not at the forefront of it. Talks about bidding on the team were occurring before last weeks election in which Donald Trump whose candidacy Romney strongly opposed won the presidency.
Mitt Romney is associated with the firm but hes not leading the charge on this by any stretch of the imagination, Waldrip said.
Romney is the chairman of the executive committee at the firm. The managing partners are Tagg Romney and Spencer Zwick, a longtime Romney aide who has been referred to as his sixth son. A third managing partner is Eric Scheuermann.
The trio of managing partners founded the investment firm in the wake of Romneys 2008 presidential primary loss. Many of their initial clients were donors to Romneys political campaign.
The firm has since grown, and holds an annual conference in Deer Valley, Utah, in conjunction with Romneys former political supporters and donors.
It does not appear that the firm was seeking to invest in a baseball team, but the opportunity arose through one of its investors.
We dont always understand the reasons for our families being interested, Waldrip said. We will look at it and figure out if it makes broader sense.
Waldrip would not name the family that was interested in the investment.
Romney has a strong history with the Olympics, having run the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Tagg Romney has some experience in a baseball front office. In 2005, the Dodgers run at the time by Frank and Jamie McCourt hired Tagg as the teams marketing director. He left about a year later to help his fathers first presidential bid.
Tagg, like his four brothers, grew up an ardent Red Sox fan, and has held seasons tickets.
Baseball is not a team sport in the sense basketball and football are. LeBron makes his teammates better. A great QB or OL makes his teammates better. Baseball doesn't work that way, at least not anywhere near as directly. It makes the arguments for having an MVP have to come from a playoff team even dumber. There is ZERO doubt that if you switch Mike Trout for Mookie Betts, the Red Sox would be a better team. How is he not more valuable? In comparing individual players (which is what individual awards like the MVP are for) there is absolutely no tangible or reasonable metric by which someone can make the case for Mookie Betts being better or more valuable than Mike Trout.

I second what @JonathanMayo says -- bet Gleyber Torres is in top five of Top 100 when we redo the list in January. @Yankees
