Hahahaha. You're telling me Delmon Young isn't a bad fielder? He's a butcher. Terrible. Absolutely brutal. He's got a good arm but horrible range and putrid instincts. Trust me, it'll be more noticable when he's in one of his horrible funks where he's seeing two pitches per at bat and batting a buck fifty with zero power for a couple of weeks.

I'm so glad the Twins traded Garza & Bartlett for him. God.
You don't like Delmon Young, do you? Can't tell..

Also, for those who question Prince's durability. Since starting full-time for the Brewers, he's missed under 15 games total. And now he's in the AL so if required he can DH when he is having an issue. He might wear down in 5-6 years, but Detroit shouldn't have anything to worry about for the next few years. Hope he does great, best of luck to him.

Delmon Young, the dude? He seems pretty cool, and kind of eccentric.

Delmon Young, the player? He's terrible. I wanted him badly to succeed, but he sucks. He had one season of providing positive value to the team, and that was in 2010 when his bat was good enough to make up for his horrific fielding.

I wonder, if any owners could go back and not have done the deal, would be off the list?

My guess?
1, 6, 15, 16, 17, 18 (all of them), 23, 30, 31

I assume you mean 31b (Carlos Lee) and not 31a (Albert Pujols). 7/$100 mil for Pujols was an awesome deal.

By the way, how is Mauer is expected to do this season? Last year was such garbage for him.

Calcaterra at Hardball Talk said:
But the upshot: Bautista spoke at a banquet the other night and noted that in the past two years — the two years which coincided with his tremendous uptick in homers — he has been given sixteen drug tests. In the two years before that he had three total. So I would guess that it’s safe to say that the random drug testing thing has been something less than random in his case.

Now, the real test: given how often Bautista has been tested, if he has 19 homers in late May, can random columnists resist the urge to write that “it’s impossible not to be suspicious” column once again? Or is there nothing that will stop that?
But then they'd have to not be hacks...and the vast majority of sports columnists are hacks...so....

Well, he isn't rushing back from knee surgery, and they are working on a way to keep him catching a lot of the season but still getting plenty of time at 1B & DH, so I'm expecting him to have a bounce back year.

Wilson! He will be missed. He'll go down in the hall of fame of Phillies utility infielders with Tomas Perez and...well Tomas Perez.

He hit 5 HR in 9 post season game for the tigers, hit 8 HR/32rbi in 40 regular season game with avg of .274. was a huge spark right next to fister that boosted tigers from next to neck with Cleveland to 15 game lead by the end. Also major reason we beat the Yankees in the first round.

he fits well with tigers ,because no one will walk him as he bats ahead of Cabrera . he is a great complement player, as that is exactly what his role in Detroit would be. Unlike in Minn due to injury of M&M

I'm guessing he'll be batting further down in the order with Fielder on the team. In 2008 & 2009 he was supposed to be a complementary player, and he stunk. He had a hot few weeks after the trade, but he's also had several years of being terrible.

I wish him all the success in the world, like I said, I like the dude. I'm just saying don't get your hopes up, as he has a nearly career long history of being a black hole of suck.

Ok time to post the answer to the question!

The answer is D, Billy Williams.

Williams was the Rookie of the Year in 1961. He hite 426 career home runs and amassed 2,711 hits. He was eligible for the Hall of Fame in 1982, but was not elected until 1987, when he received 354 of a possible 413 votes (86%).

Congrats to Sanjuro, Vargas and Rake, I have to run up to a Sixers game. Catch you guys tomorrow!

Quick question: Has MLB officially stated if there's going to be two Wild Cards in each league this year or is that waiting until the Astros move? It seems like they're kinda running out of time to say...

I think that's dead this year, thankfully. Hopefully it's off the table for good, I think they're going to fuck up the playoffs.

I think Selig said a decision will be made by March 1st. Seems like they will wait until next year.

Tomodachi wa Mahou
Jerry Crasnick
Jeff Keppinger has agreed on a one-year big league deal with #Rays, pending a physical, says a source.

Nice move, totally under the radar. Keppinger has always had insane splits (given his scrub status), is a pretty solid hitter against LHP. Hopefully will never see Brignac and his .448 OPS ever again.

Yankees had five of the top 100 before the Montero trade, not bad. Also why the hell is Baunelos rated higher than Montero? Montero should be in the top 10 and Baunelos a little more down the list.

When is BA's top 100 due?

Mason Williams will probably be ranked higher than Gary Sanchez by this time next year. Not sold on Sanchez, got holes in his swing and doesn't walk a bunch. Mason seems pretty legit though from what I read.

I'm very excited to see how Miguel Sano does in full season ball this year. It's a long drive, but a few guys from a Twins blog I post on are thinking about going down to a game in Beloit this year. That might be a blast.

Sanchez had some big defensive problems last year but I think his bat is fine. I can see Mason Williams being in the top 50 next year if he has another good year. He could end up in Tampa by the end of the season.

Charleston is going to be stacked with Sanchez, Williams, Campos and some of the others.

I'm a little surprised to see Solis on this list, to be honest. I guess he must be a lot further along in his development than I'd thought.
