Its not doing bloated PC architecture:
- No giant discrete videocard with bulky houding, RGB, convoluted power connectors on PCIe slot requiring additional 400W of power and its own complex cooling rig.
- No separate pools of RAM requiring awkward DIMM slots.
- No complicated motherboards with huge margins for mobo ODM, no RGB BS to indicate "Gamer" mobo, no Gamer tax on the controller chip for the board.
- No need for a giant 850W PSU since you only need to power one fucking SoC that has CPU and GPU inside, only requiring around 400W unit.

Magnus only requires what consoles do:
- Single unified cooling set up
- simple layout with unified RAM soldered on the mobo around a single SoC and soldered PCIe NAND plus a single m.2 slot
- Smaller PSU with single set of cables to the motherboard

A 36GB RAM base Magnus box could be made for $1000, and sold with decent margins for $1200.

3rd party Magnus with 48GB of RAM and multiple m.2 slots, RGB BS could be made for $1200 and sold for $1500 for nice proifits.

$2000 is for bloated traditional ATX mATX PC rig with lots of added complexity for upgrade path. You will not upgrade Nagnus box other than SSD.

I think it would be nice if it had lpcamm2 slot. For like cheaper and smaller workstation.

Yeah, you could do slots with LPDDR5X or LPDDR6, but bandwidth is not enough for Magnus so... GDDR7.

Definitely shouldn't give them the benefit of the doubt. Just wait for the prices and everything else will fall in line. The mistake in all this is those who are not understanding that price is still king in gaming.

Its a SoC. 5080 dont have CPUs.

Also. Its 2 chiplets. 144mm² + 264mm². Its no where as complex as doing a single 407mm² monolithic die.

It's my understanding especially with the brand new bridge die architecture that the Magnus chiplet design would be much more complex than a traditional monolithic design especially with the substrate considerations

Full disclousure, im hyped for it, even if i dont buy it(maybe i will, who knows, nothing is set in stone yet) i want its specs to be officially announced, lets put some preasure both on sony and pc market too, bring back some healthy or even not so healthy competition.

You underestimate the amount of people without money buying things they can't really afford in this economy.

It will sell 5M. That's only a small fraction of the xbox fanboys on twitter. Especially with the xbox mindset that next year is the year they're going to be full of (possibly) false hope that "this gen is the gen MS deliver". The same applied to the Series consoles. Much like it-it may not have very long legs, might crash and burn in later years with very few sales once the diehards fans have bought it near launch year or so. It will sell initially though and I suspect blow past 5M.

I really doubt they will sell that much. Folks like Timdog has already jump shipped.

To be honest I don't follow Xbox news that much so I don't know about details of different versions.

Regardless, this will be much more expensive than PS6 and PS6 will be much more expensive than PS5.





AT LEAST 1000$, looks more looking at specs (1500?). PS6 alone looks close enough to 1k with specs it have, and they look far cheaper than what this thing will have.
