Dana fuckin White blew it with the Fedor Landers match. The fight wouldve made them so much dough that they couldve pulled shitty numbers for the next 3 years and still be up in profit.

When did Mike Goldberg do this? And still not a peep outta the MMA media about Jon Jones T/E ratio. It's about ethics.

NSAC was question by media. They claimed they did CIR testing on his samples and they came back clean, which would be definitive by modern testing standards.

MMA Fighting requested the paperwork which they are required to produce by law, I believe. I guess we'll see if that ever shows up.

Though yeah, someone should be wondering why an athlete in the prime of his career is walking around with the T/E of a 90 year old man.

Hmmm

Hendricks is going to fight Matt Brown instead of rematching Lawler

Eh. Poor Matt Brown, they keep using him as #1 contender. Robbie had to fight Matt Brown along the way to his second title shot.

UFC is so random.

Ninja Edit: UFC should've booked Lombard/Brown and McDonald/Hendricks.

Would've made for more exciting fights and matchups.

It could've been good news if it weren't for the fact that this is only happening because Lawler went straight into bitch mode as soon as got the title. 6 month vacation.

The dude fought 7 times in 2 years. If that doesnt call for a vacation i dont know what does.

At that rate, Donald Cerrone should get a mandatory retirement from the UFC.

I think Robbie should get a break. Again, they could've booked McDonald/Hendricks and had the winner of Lombard/Brown as the contender after.

This. Anyway hope Lombard beats Red King (bad matchup for him though) and gets a shot ahead of the Hendricks/Brown winner (so Hendricks) because it'd be nice to see Lawler fight someone new and I'm pretty sure Lombard/Lawler would be fireworks, for a few rounds at least.

I honestly see Macdonald doing what he did to Woodley again on Lombard. It will likely play out very similar. I hope Macdonald gets his title shot with a win; way more excited to see that rather than the probable Hendricks vs Lawler III.

Well... If Hendricks fights one more time after (THE RED KING), everything comes full circle and looks kinda fair to me.
Can't do it of course, they can't let THE RED KING wait that long.
More likely that Brown is enough for Hendricks to fight for the belt again.

JOHN WICK btw. is a fun, good looking film that takes the action connoisseur serious.

The PBC series, created for TV by Haymon Boxing, will feature great matchups on both NBC and NBC Sports Network.

The first PBC on NBC card, scheduled for March 7 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC, will feature a clash between 147-pound title contenders Keith Thurman and Robert Guerrero, and a showdown between 140-pound contenders Adrien Broner and John Molina Jr.

The second card, on April 11, will highlight a bout between 140-pound title hopefuls Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson.

The 20 live PBC on NBC events this year will consist of five Saturday prime-time shows on NBC, six Saturday afternoon shows on NBC and nine Saturday prime-time shows on NBCSN.

The host of PBC on NBC will be seven-time Emmy Award winner Al Michaels, who called the classic championship bout between “Marvelous” Marvin Hagler and Thomas “The Hitman” Hearns 30 years ago this April.

Additional on-air personalities for PBC on NBC will be announced in the coming weeks, along with future show dates and times.

Within the 20 live shows, NBC Sports Group will present more than 50 hours of PBC coverage, including NBCSN pre- and post-fight programming for NBC telecasts. “We are looking forward to presenting PBC on NBC to develop a new and exciting platform which will be embraced by the millions of boxing fans across the country,” said Jon Miller, president of programming for NBC and NBCSN.

Haymon won.

mma news for whoever doesn't check frequently

“Not only do I win, I pick the round.”

As if you didn’t already know, ‘The Irish Hope’ Conor McGregor (16-2-0) headlines a card in Boston this weekend. He’s been pretty much guaranteed a title shot with a victory over fellow European striking demigod, Dennis Siver (22-9-0, 1 NC). McGregor rides a 12 fight win streak into this bout including a first round TKO victory over Dustin Porier, a thrashing of Brazilian can Diego Brandao, and besting the young and talented Max Holloway. McGregor has only gone the distance once in his career and owns finishes in the rest of his 16 victories inside the cage.

Siver on the other hand is a 36 year old Tae Kwon Do black belt and also dabbles in Yudo and BJJ. A true veteran of the sport, Siver boasts a 12-6, 1 NC record inside the Octagon (a feat not even the likes of Pride superstars Wanderlei Silva, Shogun and Dan Henderson could ever dream of achieving) with solid wins over fighters such as Nam Phan (MMA picks extraordinaire), G.Sot, and Naoyuki Kotani. Siver is coming off a ‘Fight of the Night’ victory over Charles Rosa this past October on the Sweden card. Owner of one of the best spinning back kicks in MMA, Siver looks to derail the Irish hype train before it gets a chance to even go off.

There has been much heat and shit talk by both these men coming into the mega bout. 99.9% of it being Conor McGregor. McGregor promises a KO of the Tae Kwon Do enigma before you could even say “DublinDown” three times fast. Dana has openly stated that McGregor will be earning a title shot against longstanding featherweight kingpin, Jose Aldo later this year with a win over Dennis Siver. The same wasn’t quite promised to Siver but it will definitely raise his stock before heading towards his retirement circuit. McGregor comes in as a clear favorite at -1200 with Siver looking to make you some money at +775. The better odds to take would be McGregor winning the bout in round one as he has promised at a cool -135.

The resurrection of Bendo Christ Superstar and Cowboy’s last Yee-Haw

A last minute change to the card has also made a very watchable co-main event. The original Benson Henderson (21-4-0) vs. Eddie Alvarez (25-4-0) was scrapped due to an undisclosed reason and had former Bellator champion, Eddie Alvarez replaced by the surging Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone (26-6-0, 1NC). Henderson and Cerrone will now meet for the third time to cap off a trilogy that Henderson has dominated so far.

Former lightweight champion, Benson Henderson coming off the first KO loss of his career from the hands of current number one contender, Rafael Dos Anjos, looks to get back to his winning ways this weekend. Starting off his UFC tenure 7-0 and winning the title, he hit a skid back in 2013 losing to his arch nemesis and current champion Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis. While he looked to great in his two return bouts, he hit another road block in his quest to regain the title when he was KO’d by Dos Anjos in a surprise upset back in August. He already owns two wins over Cerrone back in WEC but both have improved leaps and bounds since then.

Cerrone on the other hand is on quite a run of his own riding a 6 fight win streak over the likes of Myles Jury, Eddie Alvarez, Jim Miller and Edson Barboza. He has also only lost to Anthony Pettis and Dos Anjos during this span and looks to prove he is the elite gatekeeper at 155 over Benson. The Cowboy had won 4 straight fights in 2014, the 2015 rape of Myles Jury on January 3rd and is looking to get right back on the saddle just 15 days later against one of the best in the division. Give respect where its due. Benson Henderson opened the lines at a formidable -135 to Cerrone’s +115. Odds are about right with Benson being the slight favorite despite winning twice before. It clearly shows Cerrone’s advancement in the MMA world.

I’ll be watching the AFC championship game instead

For some strange reason, this event will fall on a Sunday. A busy one at that. While the Colts/Patriots AFC showdown is on at the same time of the earlier fights, you won’t be missing much. But for whoever is interested on the remaining mediocre undercard can catch New York native Uriah Hall (10-4-0), a black belt in both Kyokushin Karate and Tiger Schulmann’s MMA, laying a beating on late replacement Ron “The Choir Boy” Stallings (12-6-0). ‘Stormin’ Norman Parke (20-2-0) against Gleison Tibau (32-10-0) and John Howard (22-10) vs. Lorenz Larkin (14-4-0, 1NC) round out the rest of the main card. You can also catch TUF China winner, Lipeng Zhang (9-7-1) main eventing the prelims against up and coming Long Islander, Chris Wade (8-1-0).

Bone’s Nose

As you probably already know, light heavyweight champion, Jon ‘Bones’ Jones had the MMA community and whatever small fan base (and haters) in an uproar over his alleged cocaine use prior to his title clash with Daniel Cormier earlier this month. I highly doubt he went into the bout high as a kite as it would probably result in cardiac arrest. Everyone just peanut butter and jealous. Cormier fans and Bones haters can cling onto that string and pray something happens but that probably won’t be the case as Jon Jones has already exited the rehab facility after just one day hand in hand with Phil ‘CM Punk’ Brooks with a matching straight edge tattoo in tow. There have been a lot of roid talk coming out of the random testing but no actual proof. Most likely just some horse jerky that Overeem has handing around in the Greg Jackson camp as a thank you for his demolition of Struve back in December. Jon Jones has already stated he is good to go and will be attending the AFC championship game this weekend where both his brothers, Chandler & Arthur Jones, will be going head to head for a shot (2nd for Arthur) at hand egg glory.

UFC 185 just got a little more crotch clinching

Despite Dana howling for an unnecessary rematch between Johny ‘Big Rigg’ Hendricks (16-3-0) and current champion Robbie Lawler (25-10-0, 1NC), the fans got what they wanted. The trilogy has been scrapped due to Lawler not wanting to fight any time soon and now Hendricks will meet perennial can Matt ‘The Immortal’ Brown (19-12-0) at UFC 185 in Dallas, Texas. The winner will definitely be vaulted up the rankings and score a rematch with welterweight champion, Robbie Lawler. The main event of the card will feature Anthony Pettis (18-2-0) vs. Rafael Dos Anjos (23-7-0) for the lightweight title, Carla Esparza (12-2-0) vs Joanna Jedrzejczyk (8-0-0) for the women’s strawweight title, and Alistair Overeem (38-14-0) vs. Roy ‘Big Country’ Nelson (20-10-0). Not to mention, gold medalist and undefeated flyweight Henry Cejudo (7-0-0) fighting former Mighty Mouse assault victim Chris Cariaso (17-6-0) and Sergio Pettis’ flyweight debut will be on the undercard.

With Matt Brown out of the main event against Tarec Saffediene in the February card, Brandon Thatch (11-1-0) vs Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson (10-1-0) in a 5 round welterweight tilt between two up and coming stars takes over as the new main event.

Battle of terrible nicknames

Rory ‘Red King’ MacDonald (18-2-0) also had his title shot prolonged as he has verbally agreed to face the Cuban can crusher Hector ‘Showeather’ Lombard (34-4-1, 1NC) instead. Winner will probably get a title shot against Lawler after Hendricks and Lawler finish their pentalogy.

More 170 lbs woes

To add even more confusion and what the fucks to the mix, Dana has said TUF winner Kelvin Gastelum (10-0-0) could earn a title shot with a win over Tyron Woodley (14-3-0) at UFC 183.

Brown Pride vs. Cain Velasquez

Heavyweight champion and American, Cain Velasquez (13-1-0) will make his return to the cage against current interim champion Fabricio Werdum (19-5-1) on June 3rd in Mexico.

Spikeforce Featherweight Championship

The newly Scott Coker minted Bellator will also be holding an event this Friday as new featherweight champion Patricio ‘Pitbull” Freire (22-2-0) looks to defend his title for the first time against former champion Daniel Straus (22-5-0). But really who gives a fuck.

An actual superfight

Floyd Mayweather and Pacquiao finally agree on terms to fight. 60/40 split on purse. The 60 percent being Mayweather’s obviously. A few years too late but glad we finally get to see it.

Next week

With UFC’s PPV buys falling faster than Owen from the rafters, we get a big few months of fights ahead. Will get into Gustafsson vs Rumble and Silva vs. Diaz next week.

more stuff

UFC 182 does between 740K - 820K PPV buys. Not bad at all considering they were going against the NFL playoffs.

On Wednesday, the Ultimate Fighting Championship outlined its new Athlete Outfitting Policy in a document sent to managers of all fighters currently on the roster.

The document, obtained by Bleacher Report, details nearly every aspect of the new policy with the exception of what each fighter can expect to be paid from the new UFC partnership with Reebok. But while the monetary details remain a mystery, the document answers many questions posed after the announcement of the deal—first reported by Bleacher Report last February—late last year.

The document opens with a letter from UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta and UFC President Dana White explaining some of the reasoning behind the partnership.

"The iconic look that will be created by the outfitting policy will elevate the message we communicate as the leaders in the sport," White and Fertitta said in the letter. "The apparel is built for MMA training and MMA fighting, bringing the newest technology available to our sport."

The newly created UFC Equipment Department is overseen by Ember Morr, vice president of Consumer Products. Beginning with this weekend's Boston card, the promotion will hold mandatory "informational sessions" with each fighter participating on the card that will detail the program and answer any questions they may have. They'll also begin working with each fighter to develop styles for their individual merchandise. These sessions will be overseen by Tracey Bleczinski, senior vice president of the Consumer Products Department.

The new UFC Equipment Department will have a team stationed at each fight card. The positions are as follows: equipment director, three equipment managers and an equipment coordinator. The responsibilities of these new positions are not specified in the document.

Fighters ranked in the UFC's official rankings will be the first to pick the color of their products. For a bout between two ranked fighters, the higher ranked fighter receives first selection; the lower-ranked fighter is required to pick a contrasting color. Unranked fighters will work with matchmakers to select a color.

Upon arriving in the host city and checking in with Zuffa officials, each fighter will be issued Reebok products to wear for open workouts, media day, weigh-ins and press conferences. This product handout will include: a gym bag, a hoodie, a T-shirt, workout shorts, weigh-in shorts, weigh-in walkout sweatpants, a weigh-in T-shirt, weigh-in walkout hoodie, a weigh-in hat, underwear, socks and shoes. Female fighters will also receive sports bras.

Each fighter's corner people are also required to wear Reebok material, and they will receive the gear upon check-in. If a fighter's corner refuses to wear the product, their fighter will be subject to "penalties, fines and may be removed from the fight."

For open workouts, each fighter is required to select clothing from the following list: hoodie, T-shirt, workout shorts, underwear, socks and shoes. Female fighters will wear a sports bra.

For press conferences, fighters are allowed to wear Reebok/UFC apparel, or they may opt to wear business or business casual attire with no visible logos or trademarks.

For weigh-ins, fighters must select from the walkout product given to them upon check-in.

Upon arrival at the fight venue, each fighter will receive: fight shorts, walkout shirt, walkout hoodie, walkout hat and walkout sweatpants. Female fighters will receive their fight sports bra and fight tank top. Fight shorts will either be vale-tudo or board-short style, and no bikini-style shorts are allowed.

The document states that "fighters are paid for complying with the policy. Fighters are paid by the UFC within 10 business days of their fight. Fighters are paid based on the UFC fighter pay scale and their official ranking at the time of weigh-in."

Fighters are responsible for replacement costs for lost merchandise. If a fighter does not wear the merchandise, they will be subject to penalties ranging from monetary fines all the way to being removed from the fight. Each penalty will be based on the individual infraction.

The UFC logo may not be covered in any way, and outside logos may not be added to any product. But the UFC does reserve the right to add a sponsor logo to every single product worn by each fighter during the fight week, which leaves space for individual fight card sponsorship from outside sponsors.

If a fighter elects to wear headphones, they must be Octagon by Monster headphones.

After each fight, the fighter is required to select one piece of their official walkout gear—the product they physically wore to the Octagon (not including underwear)—and return it to the UFC equipment manager. This could include the hoodie, hat, shorts or anything else worn during the walkout. This portion of the policy leads one to believe the UFC will ramp up its efforts to begin selling "fight-worn" gear from each fighter.

In addition to all fight week-related activities, fighters must also wear Reebok apparel for any UFC-produced show. This includes (but is not limited to): Road to the Octagon, UFC Embedded, UFC Tonight, UFC Countdown, Ultimate Insider and The Ultimate Fighter.

In an FAQ at the end of the document, the promotion gives a quick answer regarding how the money from the Reebok partnership will be divvied up.

"The UFC is distributing the vast majority of the revenue received from this partnership to the athletes," the document says. A percentage of all sales of Reebok gear will be donated to Fight for Peace, a nonprofit organization "which combines boxing & martial arts with education and personal development in communities affected by crime and violence."

The Athlete Outfitting Policy also means the end of in-cage sponsor banners.

The policy goes into effect on July 6, 2015, during the UFC's next International Fight Week in Las Vegas. Several UFC stars are already signed to Reebok deals , including Jon Jones , Ronda Rousey , Johny Hendricks , Anthony Pettis and Conor McGregor .

That's a pretty strict policy and it sounds as though whatever money fighters were making through third-party sponsers is about the dry up.

Man, I'm going to miss reading all these wonderful banners with their local service industry products.

I know its silly but I keep thinking 2015 is the cash out year for the Brothers.
Get as much out of it as possible and then sell it to who knows who.

Wow so they took Mir and Bigfoot off of 184 and now Souza has pneumonia and fight with Yoel has been scratched.

Card is gonna end up being Koscheck and Ellenberger as main event by end of February

Probably realized halfway through that their dream of this being a true sport cant ever be realized.

But this thing has and had great competitors.

This really bums me out.
Just talked to a friend yesterday about this card, saying that its "too good to be true".
A sad day for being right.
