Totally forgot Penn was fighting Edgar. To be honest, I don't think there's a fight coming up I'm excited for.

11 strawweights from @InvictaFights to compete on #TUF20; winner becomes first UFC 115-lb. champion

At least they'll be the best at 115?

Wonder why they have 11......shouldn't it be an even number?

Oh, they are going to add 5 more fighters via tryouts

Current Invicta strawweight champ Carla Esparza (pictured), Felice Herrig, Rose Namajunas, Tecia Torres, Bec Hyatt, Claudia Gadelha, Juliana Lima, Joanne Calderwood, Emily Peters Kagan, Paige Vanzant and Alex Chambers will all be taking their talents to the Octagon.

Five additional fighters will be selected for the tourney via tryouts. Coaches for the show have not been assigned.

This is gonna be damn good. Tecia Torres is a star in the making. Invicta dead in the water?

I'm all on board for an all female TUF. Wish mah girl Marianna Kheyfets was still active so she could get in there. I'll settle for Bec Hyatt though.

An alternate to replace the fattie who doesn't make weight.

Women's TUF was more entertaining this year than the dudes not making weight. The finale itself was bad, but whatever.

I'm more excited about Rousey vs Miesha 2 than Wildman vs Silver 2

Yea. Women's this year was far better.
Looking forward to both fights. Just didn't like the crying after every moment. Guys have done it from time to time, and part of it is probably because most of those ladies are at the ends of their careers as opposed to young prospects.

Hopefully as they find fresh talent to bring in there will be less of it. Not saying having emotions about it is wrong, but that just got a little over done.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, MMA bros. I had a decent meal last night - all you can eat - and ate around 6.6lbs. Good stuff.

Also I will probably watch this upcoming women's TUF. Simply because it's meaningful and because there's good talent. Joanne Calderwood all the way.

A year until the wrong side of 30. Enjoy your eyesight and functional joints while you have them.
T-levels start to drop once we hit there. Time to call a SAC and get a TRT exemption.
Next 3 months look pretty dry. I found about 10 match-ups of legitimate interest.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UFC_events#Scheduled_events
-Scott Jorgensen vs. Zach Makovsky
-Urijah Faber vs. Michael McDonald

-168 is a decent all-around card

-The Singapore card after might just be their worst card ever. ONE FC puts up better cards on average than that.

-Luke Rockhold vs. Constantinos Philippou is the only good fight on this card. Everything else is crap.

-Benson Henderson vs. Josh Thomson see above. Ok, MAYBE Stipe vs Gonzaga is watchable.

UFC 169 is shaping up pretty good, better than all the above cards except 168 combined.

Six Things the UFC Can Learn from the WWE Going Into 2014

Wow, this is perhaps the best article ever written in the history of MMA journalism. A must-read.

Word.

The Cage Potato article regarding Royston Wee is brilliant as well.

Ave they even announced complete details for the digital service? And for someone who talked about wanting to be the NFL, Dana has really diluted the UFC brand by getting rid of Strikeforce and hosting so many events.

That's the problem. The UFC is the NFL - to mainstream audiences they're the de facto representation of their sport. But here's where it differs: when the NFL wanted to expand to Europe in the 90s, they created NFL Europe. It was a great idea for both trying new rules, attempting to get new fans, developing new players and the creation of all-new teams (hell even Scotland had a team) but it failed and they closed it in 2007 after losing around $30 million per season. With that closed, the fad was over, and Europeans went back to their soccer and rugby and the NFL was able to shrug that shit off easily because none of their core fans gave a fuck about it.

Not only are the UFC diving into this kind of ambitious idea headfirst, but they're also doing it simultaneously across three fucking regions (South America, Europe, Asia) whilst at the same time trying to keep a cohesive roster (kinda like the NFL arranging for the Denver Broncos to play Frankfurt Galaxy in Japan) and to develop brand new talent whilst at the same time trying to promote mid-carders. Not only that, but they expect their "core fans" to lap it up just like they would a PPV headlined by Anderson vs. GSP in a soccer stadium.

See where I'm getting at?

I get that some of these UFC expansions are purely meant for designated audiences (no-one in the world expects non-Chinese speakers to watch TUF China) but at the end of the day it's still carrying those three letters and nothing else which implies importance. Maybe if the UFC were to create UFC Europe, UFC Brazil and UFC Asia they could not only use it as a walled garden for cultivating new talent, but they could also use it as a testbed for experimenting with new rules and new scoring methods. They could also use these regional organisations to run meaningful tournaments like Bellator does (for example: the winner gets to fight on the main card of a meaningful UFC event and a "proper" UFC contract). That way regional/hardcore fans get to follow fighters from the ground level, but also it acts as quality control for the main UFC roster - allowing for fewer and more meaningful events.

But what the fuck do I know? For all we know the UFC is haemorrhaging money like a motherfucker and this "expansion" is purely an exercise in attracting new investors.

Weren't there rumors about Zuffa keeping Invicta afloat? It makes sense to keep a female feeder league going. Those 115ers are mostly good scrappers, should be a decent season. 135lbs women are the female equivalent of HW-TUF.

You are 100% correct in your idea, it's the best way for them to expand, but regarding this last part: as far as many are led to believe they are in fact very cash rich. The deal they did with the Saudi's was not just a strategic partnership but also a lucrative one.

On top of all that mob money ofc...

They turned guys like Blackrock away as they said they "don't need the capital".

Complete details at the end of the year, but a UFC stooge was on The MMA Hour and said it won't include pay-per-view. Seems like a non-starter so far, but Ariel mentioned the WWE service to him, so maybe they're on notice now.

Rather surprising since Dana's always been loud about "in the future everyone will watch tv on the internet, we're banking on this or we're fucked.".

Not only no pay per view, but the way I understood was that the only events on their online network will be the shit that nobody wants on TV. So, congratulations. You get to pay for the right to watch cards that don't live up to the Fox Sports 2 standard of quality. For a low low monthly price, you too can watch local sensations with 1-3 professional records duke it out in the name of international expansion. It's like having Gladiator Challenge right in your computer box!

On the bright side, UFC Pay Per View events were recently made more expensive. So they clearly know what they are doing.

I wouldnt be suprised if the Fertittas would sell the UFC. Lets be honest here...they keep talking about passion and all that but these guys are icecold business people.

Fertittas and White are icecold fuckers and you know it. These guys probably plan to take over freakin' Vegas with Whites ambition to get into the casino business and all.

People would probably cream their pants if they ever knew how big Zuffas profit is...
My gut feeling tells me that they use the UFC and cash cow the shit out for something bigger.

We as fans are blessed to have guys like Silva, GSP, Cain, JDS and Jones around to entertain us. But I can see a future of average joes dominating the UFC once these guys are gone. Like the Sylvia era...ehmm yeah hurts my brain.

TUF 20 debuting strawweight division

Invicta transfered 11 fighters over to TUF

Carla Esparza
Alex Chambers
Claudia Gadelha
Felice Herrig
Bec Hyatt
Emily Kagan
Juilianna Lima
Rose Namajunas
Tecia Torres
Paige Van Zant
Joanne Caldwerood

Best looking one wins TUF anyway...who is it? Dare I say Paige Van Zant? OR Torres? Or both with Dana having a cream out night and giving both the...ehm..the contract!??
