Perhaps someone better acquainted with the rules can refresh me but isn't calling a time out tantamount to DQing yourself or throwing in the towel? I swear I remember seeing this happen to someone a year ago or so. A guy called for a timeout and the fight was waved off and the other guy won.I'm with Herb. Bisping doesn't have a right to call a time out.
I can't remember which fight but I do vaguely remember a fighter trying to call time and it being taken as quitting.Perhaps someone better acquainted with the rules can refresh me but isn't calling a time out tantamount to DQing yourself or throwing in the towel? The referee is the sole arbiter of a contest and is the only individual authorized to stop a contest. The referee may take advice from the ringside physician and/or the Commission with respect to the decision to stop a contest.
Diaz punked mcgregor there, never seen Conor that antagonised before. Gonna be good!!
If you're feeling it, the odds are great. Diaz is at +400.
Asking for your mouthpiece is not a verbal tap, no.Perhaps someone better acquainted with the rules can refresh me but isn't calling a time out tantamount to DQing yourself or throwing in the towel? Did he? He might say 'I should have defended myself', but he outright blamed Herb Dean for what happened.Bisping's mistake, as he admitted to after the fact.
You can see it clear as day on the official UFC front page. It's like they are advertising the fact that he punched his hand. The image is him punching Diaz lol
"Fists fly", indeed.

Edit:
I was trying to say, Herb (Dean) thats my fault. Im too experienced to make those mistakes, and Anderson capitalized and well done for that guy.Did he? He might say 'I should have defended myself', but he outright blamed Herb Dean for what happened.
McGregor's fist too fast to see with the naked eye, people need slomo to see what happened.

Doing so while Anderson Silva is stalking you, with his knee ready and loaded is pretty stupid, though. :lol

UFC187. John Makdessi called time out after Cerrone broke his jaw.
Ah, gotcha.Oh I realize that - I didn't mean to suggest that. I was just curious about the 'time out' rule. Believe me, if my mouthpiece fell out mid fight I'd be shouting it from the rooftops.
Ya that's not the vague memory I have; that was recent. My vague memories are like from 3+ years back. That was more a verbal submission than asking for time out. Same with Cro-cop when he got his orbital smashed by JDS.

They have a big press conference for upcoming fights coming up right now. Weigh ins 4PM I think.I lost it when at the press conference Nate said "you play touchbutt with that dork in the park" or something.
Did Nate and Conor weigh in yet and if not, when is that???

Cruz vs Faber 3 @ UFC 199
Come on Urijah!!!
Obviously won't be a boring fight.
Faber has to win a title fight eventually, right? =/
You need to watch the Diaz/McGregor interview on CNBC.

Easily the wildest and weirdest pre fight interview I can remember for a UFC fight.
Ya but between my substance abuse and years of watching Bad MMA I have all kinds of vague memories. I also have vague but distinct memories of watching Joe Daddy get beheaded in a special weapons overtime round. According to wikipedia that never happened, but he did get choked by a former gay porn star.Should ahve a question mark at the end, sorry.
So they were actually asking the ref to call a time out?
The UR Fight promotion that is running a card on Sunday March 20th has made a significant change to their lineup.
Ken Shamrock is off of the show, where he was scheduled to fight Dan Severn in a mixed martial arts bout. Shamrock received a 30-day medical suspension from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation after his TKO loss to Royce Gracie on February 19th and was not able to fight on the March 20th show.
The UR Fight promotion has come to terms with former UFC fighter David Tank Abbott to take the spot of Shamrock and fight Severn.
