This is what Anderson Silva tried to do, but got caught by Weidman.

Super proud of Bisping

Also, for breaking the Brock news early, Helwani and 2 colleagues (Esther Lin among them) were kicked out of the arena and had credentials taken away. Banned for life

2016 has been a fantastic year for MMA so far.

The Helwani/MMAfighting ban is leaving me such a sour taste on what should have been a high night for the sport.

The best journalist in the game perhaps getting his career ended on the whims of billionaires.

Him losing the Fox gig was the start of it.

Is Sherdog still banned?

Like does this happen in any other legitimate sport? I get that he vice the promotion is announcing huge matches but doesn't that make him a legit journalist? I just can't understand how in 2016, we're dealing with first amendment issues.

This pretty much kills ton of the content on the show thanks to him not being able to attend Zuffa events and have access to Zuffa employees.

Thought Emoji Movie was good. Take that as you will.
This Ariel news has me bummed.. fuck Zuffa and fuck Dana White.

You want to keep UFC as a freak show instead of legit sport than go right ahead.. but pissing off reporters is a bad idea.

Ii wonder how FS1 really feels about Dana wanting to be on sports center.

They are paying the UFC a good sum of money and Dana breaks everything on a competitors network.

In other sports, reporters have an unofficial union where they would band together in solidarity. MMA reporters haven't had the need to get together in protest, so it will be interesting to see if they actually do something for Ariel, or just stick with the hand that feeds them.

Regarding the Brock fight, Hunt is probably the favorite to get the fight because of this report. Mir is suspended, and Carwin seems to beg for the fight on his Twitter. I think another name that could be a possibility is Stipe! He literally took no damage against Werdum. That fight can be just like how Couture made his comeback against Sylvia for the title and won. But WWE would be pissed because they're making it clear this fight would be a one-off.

I thought Goldie said during the broadcast that Brock was fighting Velasquez. At least that's how I interpreted him. It wouldn't be the first time I've been baffled or misled by him however.

Does anyone with actual photoshop skills want to make the UFC 200 OT when the time draws near? I'm going to be in LA for E3 starting Friday and by the time I'm back I don't know what I'd do for it. Since 200 it's the closest thing we get to a superbowl or Wrestlemania I figure it should be something special.

So will WWE get a special consideration out of this - they get to show his fight on their app or something?

No way, UFC would never show a co-main event on a service other than Fightpass.

It's been confirmed however that the UFC will promote Summerslam at UFC 202.

Kevin Iole, of all people: UFC's sad, short-sighted banning of journalists needs to be fixed immediately

“I was brought to the back by UFC [public relations] and told by Dana White that I had to leave the arena,” said Helwani, who said it happened just prior to the main event. “Dana mentioned that from what I recalled that Brock Lesnar was upset the news was released early and that this could have ruined their deal.

“He repeatedly said, ‘Go cover Bellator. We don’t want you here.’ … I said, ‘What did I do wrong?’ He said, ‘You’re too negative.’

More from Sports Illustrated:

Cut to last night: Why did UFC remove Helwani from its arena? I emailed the reporter on Sunday. Here is what he said:

“We were escorted out of the arena before yesterday’s main event. In short, I was told I was banned for life from covering UFC events in person because I reported the news that Brock Lesnar was close to signing a deal to fight at UFC 200. Our credentials were physically taken away. That’s the general story. They said I should have had the 'professional courtesy' to clear the news with them before reporting the news. I had confirmed it with multiple sources and it ended up being right. They confirmed it on the broadcast around 3 hours after I reported it. This has never happened to any of us. Never even hinted at. I went back to my room. Esther and Casey are the very best at what they do. I would argue the best in all of sports. I’ve been working with them since 2009 and I wish this didn’t happen to them as well.”

A UFC spokesperson told Los Angeles Times reporter Lance Pugmire that “it’s not wholly accurate,” to assume Helwani was booted from The Forum for breaking Brock Lesnar news.

“I’m not saying you don’t have a job to report, but in this case [with Helwani], the professional standards are to reach out [to the UFC] for comment on a story you’re about to report, even if you get a no-comment,” UFC spokesperson Dave Sholler told Pugmire.
