Brian Hemminger (MMAmania.com): This is the last fight in your contract. Are you concerned at all that [the UFC] might try to bury you like they did with Arlovski in the last fight of his contract?

Quinton Jackson: Actually, I wouldn't care if they did that. I don't care. They can do whatever they want to do. The reasons I made the decision to leave the UFC are the same reasons I left Pride. They can do what they want. I don't care.

New era time. Wandy gun get retired, Fedor done, Tito done, time for the New Blood to take over brotha.

Bad MMA fans rejoice! You'll be able to watch Bellator 71 on Gametrailers.com. I may watch just to see the true face of Bad MMA: Brett Rogers wife.

"I'll be fighting again in December," Overeem declared on Monday afternoon, via Twitter. "Mark my words, I'll be back to get the belt, sooner rather [than] later."

It's pretty much locked that he'll be in a Christmas/NY fight with winner of Dos Santos vs. Velasquez 2 as long as he has a doctor's note for TRT ready.

I'd say it's pretty much locked that he won't. There's no way they're going to promote a PPV when he isn't licensed.

So Fedor's last fight Thursday. Maynard v Guida and Bellator 71 Friday, and UFC PPV Saturday?

I want to be excited but I think maybe I'm burnt. I didn't watch anything this past weekend. I'll watch all of the stuff this coming weekend but maybe not live.

I just looked up when his ban expires and you're probably right. There's no time to promote anything, and I doubt they'll be taking risks with him again. I see him fighting in February 2013 at the earliest.

Amir vs. Dan Hardy for Nottingham. Amir should have two losses in a row. Please beat him Dan.

I assume that this will be the co-main event due to Hardy being from Nottingham.

I'm waiting to hear about guys like Bisping, Pearson and/or some of the mediocre English HWs being on the card.

We haven't had a decent HW since Ian Freeman, and even his win over Mir was due to terribad reffing.

Well except James Thompson of course...

Due to being born in Hounslow, the UFC considers Alistair Overeem to be English so take from that what you will.

Outside that, you guys are stuck with Oli Thompson, James McSweeney, Phil De Vries, Rob Broughton...

I want some more Rugby players like Hathaway to make the leap to MMA.

Well at least you can rest easy knowing that there's actually some high-level English MMA fighters. Because the last time I checked there's fuck all Scottish ones.

Well, except that one lassie who was on the last SFL.

Yeah but population sizes...

Besides, it could happen, some of the best Judo guys are from Scotland, the first place to teach high level BJJ was Rick Youngs gym iirc (one of the first UK BJJ black belts, under Machado).

I've got good hopes that Scotland produces a world-class MMA fighter within the next 5 years. The sport has definitely been picked up by a lot of young people.

And right now we've got as much chance in winning a UFC belt as we have of qualifying for the Euros or World Cup.

Heel friend, you would have been better served making an OT for Maynard/Guida and including UFC 147 as the footnote to that. Just an abysmal offering from Zuffa.

Correct. This is tv scheduling 101 by the UFC. You lead in with your "top" product, and follow with garbage and hope people stick around. It's basically prelims, but they've put them on Friday night.

Of course, we all know how popular the last thread was for that FX card.

I think it would've been funny to have a UFC on FX 4 thread but no 147 PPV thread.

There's an article on mmafighting.com that says this might be the first PPV to go below 200k buys since something like UFC 54 or so.

EDIT: Looks like I might get to see Spencer Fisher's last fight. Bummer it has to happen, he's been one of my favorite fighters for as long as I've been watching UFC. But I'm glad if he's retiring that I'll get to see it.

A statement had to be made and the tradition must be kept. The UFC 147 PPV thread will be studied as a historical document one day. So please, vent all of your doom and gloom towards UFC-GAF and keep MMA-GAF clean. Thank you, friends.

Could someone please explain how betting odds work again. Like lets say one guy is -300 and the other is +175. What does that mean again? I'm planning on hitting up the sportsbook in AC before the event.

-300 = you bet $300 and if you win, you win your money back plus $100
+175 = you bet $100 and if you win, you win your money back plus $175

I feel like the UFC 14whatever thread is really cathartic. We should do this more often and keep the negativity out of this thread.
This is a good idea. We should make more threads for mediocre events that don't deserve them (like that thread no one replied too lol) and unleash our scorn there to keep it from being here.

UFC has followed two of three of my recommendations to help make TUF decent again.

1. Get rid of the live fights

2. This (in order to get some personality in the house again):

A flurry of calls from UFC officials to MMA managers this week has brought a bevy of welterweights to Las Vegas to try out for the 16th installment of "The Ultimate Fighter."

For the next season officials have scrapped open auditions and opted instead to interview potential contestants directly.

"I've never seen them skip the tryout process and fly guys straight in," one manager today told MMAjunkie.com

3. The one that hasn't been done yet - Move to Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.

I don't think roids work that way. They just help you recover faster. Muscle mass is still going to remain as long as you keep training and eating at maintenance.

He looks like he lost a little 'bloat.'

Thats the in difference with rids. Go watch Hulk Hogan in the 80's then see how he looked at say, Wrestlemania 9, where he got off them. He looked muscular but like a deflated balloon.
