Team Noir, the newly branded FuRyu development team behind Monark, has begun development on a new project, the studio announced.

“We are Team Noir, a game team dedicated to creating school RPGs that explore the charms of those who shine the brightest through the darkness of the human heart,” reads a tweet from the official Monark Twitter account. “While Monark centered on desire and ego, we have begun work on a new project with a different theme. We hope you will all continue to give FuRyu’s Team Noir your support.”

Further details were not announced.

Weren't there some SMT veterans on that team? Probably should give Monark a go some day.

Monark was fucking weird, but I liked it for the whole low budget Dreamcast vibe it had going. Will be interested to see how this turns out.

Booo .. no more school rpgs!!! (n)

I think the issue with school RPG's is they essentially follow the persona set up. In that youn are restricted to a calender of days and have time limitations (you can't do everything) while having the RPG have to take place is some sort of magical world that other people can't see or access...

They all play out the same... if someone could try something different it might be intresting though. I just think it's an especially stagnant genre.

FuRyu would find more success with cheaper prices. They make budget games but always charge top dollar with limited sales.
This 100 times! I would buy most of their releases if they were priced appropriately at €30-40 instead of €60. You also end up waiting years for them to go on a decent sale (still waiting for a good sale on Crystar, Crymachina and the PS5 versions of Caligula Effect 1 and 2).

The perfect example of this is Crystar which released 5 years ago and it's still full price on Steam.

Man all these games with low budget animu 3D graphics just look so damn unappealing. Is there really that much of an audience for this stuff?

Make something that looks like Chained Echoes or Sea of Stars and it’d probably gain a lot more interest while being cheaper to produce.
