Let's fucking go!

'We are excited to become a new studio under the PlayStation umbrella and have already started work on our first exciting project - drafting our 'heartfelt thanks' studio closure press release. We hope to share more details about timelines for this closure soon"

Game reveal at the PlayStation Showcase in the next 60 days?
When I read information such as the X post that Mownoc Mownoc provided, I come to the conclusion that many of the posters that were taking digs at the barely-formed studio are more than likely prophetic in nature. The language in the post is textbook Avoid at all costs.

We will make immersive multiplayer worlds propelled by action games that players can learn, play, and master for countless hours. We want to build our games with our communities, inviting players to be a part of our development process through early access playtests

Why and how studios/publishers go off the boil like this once they get to a certain size needs to be studied.

How do Sony go from Warhawk and Socom to this?

Our first game is a team-based action game that draws inspiration from fighting games, platformers, MOBAs, life sims, and frog-type games. Players will inhabit a lighthearted, comedic world set in brand-new, mythic, science-fantasy universe. We can't wait to reveal more.

No Way Do Not Want GIF by MOODMAN

yup.
No one wants that.

What we are all yearning for is a FPS; hobby-grade coop campaign; genre-blended, multi-mode competitive e-sports; meta-growth, choice + epic Battleborn Heroes! game

Remember guys: Bungie didn't advice Factions cancelation on bad faith. Don't be conspirary theorists and all that jazz.

That money is better spent on spin-off studios like this. Circular economy, they call it.

In other words.....

"Gamers. We know Bungie is tanking hard, so to distance ourselves from that brand were making a new studio. Same people, different name"

Feels like a studio they are going to shut down in 3 years after Marathon flops.

Also Sony needs to get rid of Hulst, it's existential at this point.

The "LFG" in "teamLFG" stands for "Looking For Group." We are driven by a mission to create games where players can find friendship, community, and belonging. We want our players to feel excited when they log on to discover their teammates already hanging out online.
I guess LFGH was too long. I think it originally stood for Looking for Group Hug.

So this is what Bungie has become. Who would had known since Destiny 2 launched in 2017, Destiny 2 DLC, Marathon and spin-off LFG would be all they got in 2025. Who would even think Bungie would be broken up into two studios? Wow.

$3.6 billion well spent.

Taking a page from xbox marketing department I see.

But at least xbox makes a video to showcase its incompetence, instead of a threatening word salad.

Sounds like they got a great game in the works. lol.

"Hello, world. It's a delight to meet you, and we're very grateful to be joining PlayStation Studios.

Our studio is headquartered in Bellevue, WA, with team members working both on-site and remotely throughout the U.S. and Canada. We are a team composed not just of industry veterans who have shipped titles like Destiny, Halo, League of Legends, Fortnite, Roblox, and Rec Room, but also industry newcomers with fresh creative perspectives and skills. We are passionate about exceptional action-based gameplay, moment-to-moment game feel, and richly social virtual worlds.

We want our players to feel excited when they log on to discover their teammates already hanging out online. We want our players to recognize familiar names and to make myths and memes out of each other. We want our players to love remembering that one time where they pulled off That Play that changed the whole story of the match. As we say on the team – dat's da good stuff.

We will make immersive multiplayer worlds propelled by action games that players can learn, play, and master for countless hours. We want to build our games with our communities, inviting players to be a part of our development process through early access playtests. It's critical that we stay nimble enough to react to player feedback, not just in our lead-up to launch, but throughout live service as we continue to grow the game and community for years to come.

'Til then, we'll do our best! Thanks for reading."

I disagree.

I generally think the goals in their blog post are positive and represent multi-players potential pretty well. Vague? Sure.

But I am a multi-player centric gamer. I'm not sure how many commentors in this thread are.

Further confirming to me that they have no fucking idea what they are doing at this stage.

The old, throw enough shit at the wall and something will stick. Bungie are a husk of their former selves and will never again reach the heights of the Halo series. Sony should really stop banking on them at this point and do what they were good at during the PS3 generation, making decent single player titles.

Sony got duped. Can we all agree on that? Even Phil Spencer was like Bungie was not worth what they were asking for. That was very telling.

Sony should change that name to Team Looking for Job

Sony/Bungie have no excuses with this new LFG game.

People ragged on Concord (Firewalk), where some brought up they were too late to the game with a hero shooter and a Guardians of the Galaxy vibe.

People also brought up maybe extraction shooters have tapped out (hence TF extraction game cancelled) and the genre never really took off like other shooters with mainstream modes and BR. So Marathon might be too late again. If you wanted to hog the extraction gamers you had to come out earlier with Tarkov or Hunt.

LFG is a new studio with a new game. And as they stated they got "fresh perspectives and skills" from vets from shooters, MOBA and even Roblox. Let's see what creative genius game they got under their belt when the time comes to show it.

It's pretty wild how far Bungie have fallen. From the "can do no wrong" studio to the "Oh no, they're making more games" studio.

Bummer.

They don't deserve another studio. Bungie is a joke in my book. Instead of doubling down on single player games they still wanna chase the gaas nightmare.

It's insane to me that they will do these incubation projects like this, Concord, Fairgame$, and Blundell's studio…. But didn't go all out to acquire the one studio who actually delivered a successful GaaS. Now Tencent has their tentacles in Arrowhead and it's probably too late.

Sony has consistently produced both, the narrative that they abandonded SP games is stupid.
For all the shit we give to an obssesive GAAS evangelizer like Men_in_Boxes Men_in_Boxes , fuck me, the single player diehards on this forum are even more fucking ridiculous.

I like how people say this when it's clear PlayStation (and Bungie) have done a ton of internal testing and have shuttered numerous projects because they feel they don't need to throw them at walls to see what sticks.

Further proof that believing in and parroting a narrative is more enticing that following facts.
