Whelp .. hopefully there's no retroactive price increase, or cancellation bullshit, for my upcoming international family trip.

It's fuel right now but from what I've heard, it's gonna start affecting food supplies soon too.

Hopefully this shit is sorted out asap.

I guess "destroying civilization" part was about us, not Iran.

Fair enough, panic buying was most definitely a thing back in 2020 as well.
Not a criticism when I say that in case it sounded like it. But I think people will start asking questions about supply soon enough and if governments don't get ahead of it with reassuring messaging we could find people starting to think about adding a few hundred more toilet rolls to their shopping trolleys as per the pandemic, as you say.

I'm off to plant some vegetable seeds. 😂

But that is why it's important to have stable, coherent governments.
100%. I expect Donald Trump to reassure the world by telling everyone on Truth Social that they shouldn't worry about shortages because the white house has a yuge food store and he'll get through things just fine.

I always enjoy this guys takes and depth & breadth of knowledge on the subjects he discusses. Do we know how accurate his takes are? Have people looked back at his prior stuff and compared them against what eventually took place?

His structural analysis are good. He has a good view of how the world works, the dependencies, trade, etc.
The thing he fails often is population. He has been saying that several countries, especially China, are going to collapse due to low birth rates.
The low birth rates is correct, but the part about collapse is just overly dramatic.

Starting to see the effects now. Weee.

That's just one airline and 20K flights. Unless this shit is resolved soon, more airlines will follow.

Looks like I'll be getting the train from London to Italy this year. Either that or change plans and get the boat from Portsmouth to Bilbao.

Also, funny comment I saw on BBC.

In the most ironic of twists, Trump has probably done more to support the move to net zero than any other world leader.

Just ground civilian flight, people can stay in their fucking countries. Ground them forever for all I care.

I was gonna fly my wife and kid from Boston to Philly for a vacation in the summer. $1700 for 3 seats on a 90 minute flight. Fucking outrageous.

Round trip train tickets were $500. Much rather do that even if it takes longer.

I wonder if they will refund the money for the tickets.

Finally some good news from that region.

Edit: It's hard to know what is real anymore

Yeah im not gonna believe the IRGC judiciary...

Good on the US to shine a light on this and put pressure on the IRGC to do the somewhat right thing

Edit: Apparently this is funny to some users 🤦‍♂️, well im glad the 8 women get to live

Since Internet is still turned off in Iran, there is no way to verify this. Might be awesome if true, there's more ways than just using guns to revolt against a despotic regime which is currently being economically strangled by a naval blockade

I'm one of his premium subscribers. He's pretty smart but not 100%. He leans a little on the sensational side, seeing a lot of worst case scenarios that don't exactly play out that way.

I wonder at what point this ends with a deal that is pretty much the same as the Obama 2015 agreement?

Jokes on you, I already started stashing extra canned food. So in the dystopian future, I'll either survive a month longer than you, or be overrun by looters on day one. See you space cowboy!

6 months to reopen the strait, starting when they feel like it, which could be over a year away, who knows. Everything is fine, all according to plan. I hope you guys feel ready to pay for the modest lifestyles of the UAE elite, on taxpayers money, in the mean time.

Senior Advisor to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to The New York Times: IRGC Generals Are Making Decisions on Behalf of Mojtaba Khamenei #Breaking_News

Basically admittingthat IRGC has no legitimacy at this point and only the continuation of the war allows them to maintain power because "the leader told us to act as we see fit but he cannot be reached anymore so believe us".
