I agree and I always feel any leader above 60 should really go.

I would be on board with the "you can only serve 12 years in govt" rule as well.

Politics is full of old corrupt monsters that have been riding the system for years.

I think 60 would be taking away some of the best candidates. Experience and wisdom do come with age. But I would still support both age limits and term limits no question about it.
 
Remember when deep state media was trying to push this same cognitive decline hoax before and Don Lemon was supposed to be mocking President Trump over how simple the cognitive test was but instead he confused a rhino for a hippo 😭
 
80 seems like a good limit based on the fact that the risk of death in the upcoming year starts to accelerate at that age. If you will be over 80 at any point in the 4 year term for which you are running, that's too old. Sorry grandpa.

Edit: laugh it up if you like, but this war has put the President's competence under intense public scrutiny. I think there's a good chance that the only administration that gets toppled by this war is the Trump-led one.

He'll see out this term just like old Joe. Joe had cognitive decline and the Dems did nothing. DJT has been making questionable decisions such as straining the NATO and Asia-Pacific alliances that has been established since the end of WW2 along with this unpopular war being waged, and the Republicans aren't doing anything. It's a hyper-partisan era. That's just how politics roll.

It was clear in 2020 just from watching tv that the man was mentally on the downslope, yet hundreds of people worked with or near him for years after that and didnt say a word.

Not that I care much for being 'insulted', but people claiming Trump has dementia is insulting to people with dementia and their loved ones.

That just makes the insanity he says and does on a regular basis worse.

He isn't unfit because he lacks mental capacity, he's unfit because he lacks moral capacity. Unfortunately though our expectations of our leaders beign in any way moral have eroded.

We just had a whole page of someone claiming Trump has advanced dementia and will no longer be President soon and that was completely allowed and nothing I have posted comes anywhere that tier of lunacy

I think Trump's behaviour is so much more erratic and aggressive than anything we saw with Biden. That'll require a different approach.

Time will tell, but I don't think Trump has a chance in hell of completing his term, unless he is completely invisible, including social media posts. I don't think that's compatible with the role of President, but as I said, time will tell.

I don't see any other source other than Al-Jazeera doing anything close to 'live' reporting on this.

This is all they have on the matter right now. We're probably not gonna find out more until the talks are completed to see the points agreed or not.

The al Jazeera source is iran and this isnt new information, just search iran asset unfreeze and youll see multiple conflicting reports

Are we gonna cover both sides?

I agree with Baemono Baemono that people needa stop dumping any random shit they read online in here now.

If there's a different source countering it, please post it in reply to the post. I don't think we should just stop reporting what reuters, al jazeera etc are reporting because they sourced the news from someone representing Iran.

Also, I'm fairly sure Baemono Baemono is talking about posting highly partisan opinion puff tweets, but they can correct me if I'm wrong.

the nytimes is saying that Iran is saying this, but a U.S. source is denying it. so it is unclear, but probably i would lean towards not true.

I'm mostly just checking The Guardian, they have a good 'live update' page that updates now and then. For this specific news, different sources are saying differently at the moment, we'll probably find out in a day or two cause the talks are still ongoing and will probably continue over the weekend.



The NY Times also has a good and frequently updating page as new info comes out:





Anyway, a couple of more updates.

Sounds like they're done with in-person talks for the day and will continue over night Pakistan time.

He'll finish out the term, the Dems will win the House and senate in the fall, but they still need 66 votes to convict him in the senate if they impeach him in the House. They're not going to have Republicans defecting to convict him. Also, modern presidents tend to live a long time, so he'll live long enough to see the end of the term.

Now one thing that is guaranteed is that there will be another major crisis geopolitically. The Greenland incident and Iran War are two catastrophic events geopolitically.that has happened in just 13 months of his presidency. Expect more chaotic times ahead.
 
Let's get back to Iran plz.

I will like to remind people that the exact same talks happened in Jan, and the Iranians are more bold now as they think they won. I wouldn't be surprised if war is back on the menu.

Thanks, this thread is where I hover for updates. Hopefully it will remain cleaner and easier to get/read the updates on whats happening.
 
Reading between the lines of what both the US and Iranians said after the failed round 1 of talks, I actually anticipate a 2nd round of talks and a breakthrough of some kind shortly.

The issue appears to go back to their Nuclear Enrichment program.

They want to enrich and justify it by saying that its not for weapons, and we continue to call "bullshit" . Nothing that has happened between the Iran Nuclear Deal back in 2015 and last Saturday changes either fact.

To the broader point that came out of it.. There is no trust, and with no trust there can be no deals.

There are 90 year olds that are still very very sharp(Thomas Sowell, Ron Paul, G Edward Griffin) but they would be better fit as advisors, not president.

Its something of a case by case basis.. My Grand mother who is 102 was still sharp as a whistle at 99, but she had not kept up with the world.

So you also have to take into consideration if the person is still evolving with the world or are they "stuck". They stopped learning new ways of doing things and fight against any new way of thinking or approaching problems.

We blew up their whole military and they were basically using the threat of sporadic drone strikes and hypothetical mines no one can find to try and stop traffic

Now we're going to bring the world's most powerful navy in to safeguard traffic and also block all their ports and if they try to drone our ships they're not gonna enjoy how we respond

I'm betting on our blockade vs. theirs here
 
Considering most of the oil and gas that was passing the straight of Ormuz was going to Asia, I bet that China is not happy with 2 blockades. And neither are all other Asian countries.
