He's actually saying the online rooms are livelier than the offline village. Which makes some sense since one is a bustling town and the other is a quaint village. I agree that having more NPC interaction in both could be an improvement. Not a fan of more cutscenes though.

Does anyone know if you can fight Caedeus online in MH3U?
After almost 300hrs playtime on Tri I still have not seen this monster because all I ever played was online. If so then w00T for me cuz that would make it 12 new monsters.

You can fight every monster solo or online or local mp.
It's outselling the WiiU version on Amazon and has been since it was posted.
Keep in mind the 3DS base is bigger than the WiiU's. That will balance things out.
Either way I'm interested in how they'll gauge the "success" of this project. I think the most logical choice is to take sales of both into account instead of saying one or the other failed. The big pull of the WiiU version is online which MH4 has on the 3DS. It would be logical to assume that the combined numbers of MH3U would be a gauge of well MH4 will perform with just the 3DS since it has the feature.

Ok, so I made myself wait until I finished Fire Emblem before I tried the demo for this. I have both versions preordered and this will be my first Monhun.
I do have a couple of impressions and questions from the 3DS demo.
I'm assuming it is because this is a demo, but the beginning is awfully awkward. I've always heard that the game is a bit obtuse, but this had no explanation of what to do whatsoever. I'm hoping the full game has a little bit more hand holding at the beginning.
The controls didn't bother me at all. Maybe it's because the last game in this genre that I really sunk my teeth into was PSO nearly 15 years ago. I'm sure that pseudo-mmo dungeon crawler control conventions have changed a lot since then, but to me this feels like a sort of evolution of that. Slightly clunky, but still readily serviceable. One peeve though - why no circle pad pro support in the demo? I really wanted to try that out. It's going to be in the retail version, right?
How is character customization in the full version? At least on the small 3DS screen, it was hard to see detail like faces, but at least a little bit of customization would be nice.
Holy shit that font sure is tiny. Maybe it's time to upgrade to a XL.
I could definitely see this being a lot of fun with a group of friends. Here's hoping they bring that tunneling app on the Wii U over as well.

The actual game does a lot in teaching you what to do. From gathering resources to fighting. In fact, I believe there is a little too much hand holding as it takes about 1 1/2 or so hours to really get into the meat of the game. So dont worry about not understanding how things work. The retail version has you covered.
I'm not exactly sure why they omitted it.
There is a little bit of customization at the start.
The rest of the game, and most important part, is killing the monsters for their carves, of which you use to make new armor and weapons. You'll need multiple sets of armors to tackle different monsters depending on their traits and the environment around you.

Tri (I'm assuming ultimate is more or less the same in this respect) starts off really slow, painfully so for a series veteran. You don't even fight a real monter for a while, and when you do it'll be something even easier than Lagombi.
The catch is that you need to take a LOT more into account in the full game than the demo - those traps, mega potions etc you get? You gotta make that stuff yourself. And there's other considerations like armor skills - I highly recommend looking up how those work when the time comes, because it might not be immediately apparent.
The original Japanese demo of 3U didn't have circle pad pro support. Capcom is lazy and just translated that. Yes, the full game will have support - the CPP was practically made because the 3DS got MH.
It's not super deep but you can indeed customize your character. You can zoom in and such in the actual game if you're into that kind of thing. As for armor customization, the possibilities are endless. To me a big part of the fun of this game is finding sets that give good skills AND look cool.

I remember the Fighting the Barroth was a turning point in difficulty. It was the part of the game that really showed me great satisfaction when I could finally take it down because I knew it's move set and could predict it.

When pubbing, treat fellow hunters like meat shields until they prove otherwise.

nope, there are a couple of other near-end-game bosses that are online only, like the rare species Lagiacrus and Narga.

So WiiU can accept Solid State external hard drives?
Yes. By online only, he means they are quests that will be available in the Port/city but not the village. They can all be played single player, too.
Off hand, I think the monsters that appear in the Port only are the mentioned rare Lagiacrus and Nargacugas, Stygian Zinogre, Ceadeus subspecies and Hungry Deviljho.
Oh, so if I'm understanding you correctly, both the 3DS and Wii U version have these quests in Tanjia(?) Port? That is the area where you have to go for local multiplayer and online multiplayer?
