Monster Hunter Portable 3rd |OT| Rumble in the Hot Spring Jungle

Are you able to fight the final, FINAL boss via village quest? I thought you were but I've finished the Jhen Moran urgent quest and there's nothing else that pops up. I'm guessing you have to finish all of the quests...

If you clear all the village quests you get Jo, Narga, and Tigrex in the Arena, its an insane fight, and the rewards are + items. You start with Jo alone, and about minute after he dies Narga and Tigrex come in together. When you carve you get mega potions. The fight was insane, barely cleared it.

Holy. Narga and Tigrex together? That sounds hard..and FUN.

That's pretty cool. Any other village quests give you HR items?

I like what they've done with the gold rathian. Fighting my first one was like meeting Tri's rathian for the first time all over again. :lol
It behaves differently? (simple yes or no will do, I don't want to know how)

Haha. Alright. Anyway, hope to see it soon. I'm on vacation from tomorrow, and I'm planning to play the bejeezus out of this game (as if my 60 hours already weren't enough, haha).

Yeah, that quest is a trip... I thought too it was an extended quest.

Question about the trinkets/pendants or whatever they're called in Tri. Are they completely random?

Meaning could I get a Negate Poison skill with 6 and another pendant with 10?
Yes they are random.

Group A skills - Max 4
Group B skills - Max 7
Group C skills - Max 10

Poison belongs to group B so the max you can get is 7. There are mixed ones like 'B +5 C +10' too.

Finally reach HR6!Luckily I was fighting Jinouga one at atime while the second one is not around most of the time.

That's all they ever said it would be; what were you expecting? :)

Me, I've been playing through the village quests exclusively waiting for my friends to get the game... Seemed a lot easier than the other MHs until I got to that final quest (the one in the arena). Ouch o_O.

Actually managed to survive a good 15-20 minutes, but I was still on the first of the three monsters when I died my third time.. Either my weapon is too weak for the time limit (lasting longer than 15-20 minutes wouldn't be a problem as I started to get the hang of avoiding damage in single player against him finally before a quick lapse, but there'd still be 2 more to fight with the time left..) or maybe I'm not agressive or good enough. :/

Dragon and lightning. When it's angry it's belly is it's weak spot.

Considering,I been poking its belly the whole damn time I guess my 225 raw damage gunlance can't do it.Time for me to switch to something faster, higher sharpness and with element.

You should always have elements in mind -- a good dragon or lightning weapon will make a huge difference in a fight like that. In Tri it wasn't until I got my badass dragon hammers (I think it was Pulsating Core maybe) that I started whooping Deviljho's ass.

They removed Lagiacrus trademark skill 'Awaken', I guess its redundant due to the amount of weapons in this game.

Anyone find that this game is too easy as compared to MH3? I am at Star 5 using only my mining suit with a DEF of 17.

I think I saw the Awaken skill on Jinouga's set?

I guess the game is paced differently, the expansion will probably bring a whole new level of hurt. Plus I suspect that these balance changes only apply to the village, the gathering hall won't be lenient at all!

Loved Gigginox though, a superior version of Khezu! The sand monster (Happu) was also a ton of fun. The rest were....unremarkable. (Just started the 5 star village quests)

The sand dude seems like a replacement for Gobul. Similar moves, looks similar, and the thing in his mouth looks like Gobul's antenna (not sure if you can break it or not tho?).

MHP3 is def. easier than MH3 so far. But I'm sure they're saving the pain for MHP3G. :)

Yea I was shocked when I killed it! I was thinking why is a gobul doing here :lol Dam capcom with their recycling!

Difficulty wise I think they adjusted to suit the mainstreamers which is … :/

In terms of difficultness, the HP for village quest monsters is definitely lower than the usual MH games but the Guild hall is right on par with the rest of the MH games. Average time taking down HR monsters is arouund 20 to 30 mins.

Yeah I feel the village quests are easier but a lot of the gathering hall quests cannot be taken lightly... unless you're playing with a ton of high level players. :lol Got to HR6 on Monday, but I need to finish off two more key quests before I get my last urgent quest. I really want to try out some different armor and weapons soon too.

I dunno... maybe you're (we're?) just better at the game after all these iterations.

It may be somewhat easier, but apart from a couple of big damage moves (Naruga's tail slam), there haven't been many monster nerfs. You can still get your ass handed to you if you waltz into a GH quest with a bad equipment choice.

Honestly, I think people who reckon this is "too easy" are just more used to the system/monsters/weapons this time around. Monster Hunter is only really as hard as you make it: if you rush and are careless, you usually end up using a ton of recovery items, and if you rush and are careless with those, you end up on the Felyne cart.

I always expect to get beaten by a new monster, especially on the first encounter. But if I'm patient and treat the new beast with respect, I find it easier to cope - doesn't necessarily mean the game is easier on the whole.

... Kind of rambling off the point here, but you get what I mean ;)

One of these days,I'm gonna die of rage cause farming those bastard monsters for a ruby takes alot of time and luck and I don't have that kind of luxury for the next few months.

Japanese adhoc party lets you choose mhp3 themed servers with mhp3 background art and an avatar icon (all the different weapon types and a few other icons) that you can select with your left analog stick and place the icon next to your name.

I starting to think that the best way to play future iterations of mhp online is to learn just enough Japanese to get by in j-ahp (i.e. extremely basic writing/comprehension skills with Japanese players).

For the charms/talismans... aside from the volcano mining, any other way to get them?

Things to do before continuing to HR6:
- raw meat runs
- charm runs in the volcano till it runs out of anything to mine! :p

I understand but clearing village quests or the game with my mining suit only is a first for me ;_; The hall quests are definitely harder but thats online so it should be that way.

As end quest rewards or some special event quest. Best bet is still to visit the volcano. However the process might be harder now due to the fact that mining spots do not respawn in MHP3 unlike MH3 due to technical limitation.

Yeah super bummed that the nodes don't respawn. Loved doing long-ass mining runs in the volcano in MH3, just farming over and over until all pickaxes ran out. :)

I played MH3 for over 300 hours and never knew that. Mind blown.

Wait what? Not played Tri - can't justify to buy a WII after MonHun. MHTri players basically have 'limitless' mining on a map? Wow, kinda weird mechanic or a good idea at the same time.

@Cosmo Clock 21
If that's true... the 3DS would be guaranteed to sell more than just hotcakes.

[edit] First quest for the new year... Barioth - the Baggi/Great Baggi is annoying as hell when fighting the main monster. It seems I cannot ignore minion monsters anymore like I used to in MHF2/2G.

Can we please have someone who is fluent in Japanese and well-versed in Japanese culture translate that link Cosmo Clock gave?

Man, my best friend and I have been playing Peace Walker for the past few days and we just got to the MonHun missions. Fighting Rathalos and Tigrex got me so excited for this game! I've never played a MonHun game but this one just looks so good. How import friendly is it if I use the translation patch that's floating around?

Dad in law got this for my Xmas present. I already put 35 hours and loving the gunlance. Gonna play some adhoc mode but my Japanese is turrible. Any gaf list of PS3 MH 3rd players out there.

The patch works pretty great..I reckon most of the game will be translated within a week or so. The only thing that may not be addressed is the random NPC speech.
