Monster Hunter Wilds Stage Demo - 60 FPS on PS5

Wat. People are pointing out it's an unstable 60, no?

Because they would rather live in a world of fake news than in reality.
While I'm not jumping on the hate bandwagon on this, it's hard for everyone to just go jump in blind into whatever Capcom says or shows when DD2 exists on PS5 and had very questionable performance, even if I personally wasn't that bothered with it as I'm not a crazy fps guy but the game engine clearly has major issues with open world games so based on that experience It's not that hard to see why some are skeptical about what is shown ESPECIALLY since all trailers for MH Wilds have had choppy framerate.

From this shitty videos?
"Shitty videos" didn't stop DF and you didn't have a problem jumping to conclusions from that before.

I don't think anybody expects this game to be a locked 60fps without drops but this is different to the earlier claim that it was running at 30fps with drops.

I was just tickling your warrior feathers bro, I can see the video is 60 with dips.
It's ok that you can't tell the difference. I won't judge you.

Just ask me next time and I'll let you know...if you don't have access to a frame counter.

Lots of dips, big ones. Feels like they just unlocked the frame-rate rather than have it run properly at 60. At that point, if it were me, i'd rather just cap the game at 40 or 30.

DF uses high quality videos to count frames, there is no problem with that. This looks like it was recorded on Casio calculator from the 90s.

Yes my 5800X3D does struggle to hit 60 in most things, I am jelly of your 2019 3600x equivalent CPU, bro. I dream in 120fps but live in 24.

Yeah, no. They used the videos we had before too and you were all over those. This video is also not even poor quality you don't even need very high quality video to see 60fps.

You should just buy a PS3....it would make no difference, since you are completely unable to tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps without a frame counter.

Lol what is with all the weird bitter and defensive energy in this thread? I could understand if this were ps5 exclusive. But last I checked this is still releasing on the personal computer. It is possible to enjoy the game even if console players are not locked at 30.

Couldn't give a shit about any Xbox Series, PlayStation 5 or Nintendo Switch 1/2 Frame rates analysis anymore.

I'll play every single game on the Pro or Computer.

I haven't seen it but I'll assume there's some kind of performance mode that can hit it. I still wouldn't bite if there are any dips below 60 on an unlocked framerate.

And we need to see the other environments and monsters because this thing looks bland as fuck right now, regardless of platform.

Remember that Monster hunter games were always uncapped. On PS4 the game was running at ~35fps and few people complained because the game was quite responsive for the framerate.

It seems to run quite better than World on PS4 too and stays at 60fps most of the time

It definitely has drops but is way above 30. Guessing it's using frame generation?
It has some drops during the big fight at around 4mn. But it seems to keep it above the VRR window and drops are actually not sustained. Also I didn't notice I/O stutters, at all. Very promising stuff, at least on PS5...

The last few months are usually reserved for optimizations and polishing. So, hopefully, they will be able to patch out most of these optimization-related issues before the game goes gold.

While I'd love to believe that, what makes me worry is that they have already unveiled the minimum and recommended specs for PC, something they probably wouldn't have done if there was still a lot of window for optimizations.

I think that what we've seen already is what we are going to get. Hopefully I'm wrong and this one comes out in a better state than DD2 did.

Yeah, this looks like 60 fps. Not a solid, locked 60, but 60. Its plausible it will be able to hit a locked 30 and 40.

Oh yes I am completely relieved now watching that footage. For a Monster Hunter game this is already ready to ship. They clearly optimized the game to make it run very well on PS5. This is not like DD2 at launch at all.

Good thing this isn't 1.0, and that the game is still ~5 months away from release.
This. Jesus, you guys. The difference between the Gamescom demo build and the TGS Quematrice demo build is night and day. Most optimizations happen during beta, which the game is now in. They still have effectively four months to dial in performance for the 1.0.0 gold master, and then will spend the last month up until the release date working on a day 1 patch if necessary to round up any last critical issues.

Monster Hunter is Capcom's cash cow, on track to be bigger and more important for them then Resident Evil. As of June, MHW/IB sold 34 million units, and MHR/SB 21.8. Compare this to RE7's 13.7, and RE8's 10.1, respectively.

Let's do a little napkin math, and say that after sales, and bundles, and platform holder cuts, Capcom took home an average of $40 per copy of MHW/IB. That's 1.36 BILLION dollars.

Capcom, the MH dev teams (plural, there's two) and Capcom's shareholders have a vested interest in making sure these games are as perfect as possible when they land in consumer's hands. You only get one first impression, and I'm sure Dragon's Dogma 2 is still well remembered in the Osaka office.

Monster Hunter World released January 26, 2018, and continued to get updates for features, bug, and performance fixes all the way until November 21st, 2023. So it's not like they're going to just dump the game out and walk away.
