Phew, I was going to say this a few pages back, but I didn't want to sound like Public Hater #1. Yes, it was funny, and yes, I did laugh my ass off, but a few of the verses sounded very very pre-written. The only one that didn't was the weaker sounding dude. I don't know your names. A lot of rappers seem to put the word "freestyle" on the end of a song title to justify its lack of polish. All that said, it's the video that made the song. Easily. I heard the mp3 a while back (summer?) and I didn't think much of it. BUT coupled with the vid, it's gold. But it's no freestyle, in the traditional sense. No "shame" in that, but off the dome? Que the big rolleyes emoticon...
Protip: Listen to the freestyle Jay-Z and Budden did a year ago or so. Jay-Z's sounds strait off the top, but Budden's verse seems to be prewrit.
Peace.
I'm actually pretty flattered that you honestly don't believe this is a freestyle. :lol It's not my job to convince any of you, and I don't have much of a track record wih you guys, so I guess if I was in your shoes, I wouldn't believe it either. All I'm saying is if you don't believe me, give your phone number, I'll head to the studio after work, call you up, ask you to pick a topic out of thin air, and then one of us will spit 16 bars, hell even an entire song off the top of our head if you don't believe , no BS. It's pretty frustrating because I don't know WHAT I can say or do to convince you other than that....
And BTW, this song was just recorded a few weeks ago, so I dunno what you heard back in the summer...? (odd...) All I can do is give you my sworn word that this IS a freestyle...lol. As soon as I get home, I will upload a few entire songs that were freestyled off top, and I'll see what you think.
I'm really at a loss for words now, because that's what Bumba is known for around the Louisville hip-hop scene, being able to freestyle
entire songs off the top hooks and all. We used to go to clubs and do that all the time, we'd just stand there freestyling entire songs to the tracks that the DJ was playing. The only reason I can see somone not believe is what I mentioned above (how we add tracks over the intitial freestyle to add some depth to the song.)
And to make it all the more funnier, this was a WACK freestyle compared to what we're capable of, and normally do.
PS. download "Where Am I Headed" off of www.getitright-records.com that's a 100% freestyle, start to finish. There are even more in the freestyle section of the site.
I think I'm taking myself too seriously here. LOL :lol :lol :lol :lol Just enjoy the show.
Sorry for my rambling...
