I would guess that any chance Too Human had of being a big hit just flew out the window. Luckily for the few people that do pick it up, hectic multiplayer will not be a problem. What a complete letdown.

It's funny how everyone is jumping to conclusions on Too Human. Oh wait, that's been happening for 2 years now.

Good for you, I just like to play games with friends next to me. For me, I now have no interest, and apparently more options = bad, as so many games these days are neglecting local multiplayer :-\

Plus, split-screen? Have you ever played a dungeon crawler?
co-sign. My cousin and I beat Gears together, and it was more fun then I ever had playing that game single-player. I probably won't be getting TH either :(

Blah Banjo trailer. He shot rockets sveral time but only jumped once? Naahh.....

and :lol @ Too Human. Whats the point of a Diablo clone without a halfway decent player count?

I've done 4-player coop in Halo 3 only a handful of times. Getting 3 of your friends to consistently play through the game with you is a pain in the butt.

That's the beauty of drop-in/drop-out co-op. You don't need to organize it.

Also, Phantasy Star Online was amazing fun on the Dreamcast with 4 players. The lack of it in TH is disappointing for sure.

At least now that there's only 2 player co-op, we won't have to worry about accidentally ending up in a game with them!

;D

Co-Optimus had an interview with him go up this morning, and one of the questions they asked was about 2 vs. 4 (page 5 of the interview)

Denis - from the interview:

With 4 players, it would be too hectic. Once you get hands-on with Too Human you may actually agree 4 players would be pretty chaotic to figure out what the hell is going on.
Where's the info on the demo!?

This is only the start. A tester tells me about that during an internal competition to see what was possible, he constructed a functioning space shuttle, complete with ejectable boosters. When they were sent spinning into the ether, a pair of wings slid into place, allowing you to fly the titan.

Oh my god!

I'm sure Too Human will actually play better with only 2.
Wat. I've gone through half the game MULTIPLE TIMES in one sitting in 4p co-op.

Any Fable 2 videos today?

Where is our NG2 demo. :D

so, hating Too Human is once again the cool thing to do?

Probably will be with a big feature set lacking. I mean this has been in the works for a long time so you have to understand where people are coming from. With the right marketing I still believe the game will do solidly however.

Errr... what have they done to Banjo? :(

That trailer does not make me want the game. Blowing up Mario's head feels both arrogant and pretentious. The music is just the classic Banjo riff looping over and over, and it got annoying very fast.

It seems like they played too much of Kingdom Hearts and just stole its Gummi ship construction idea, which I don't know anyone actually enjoyed to begin with. It also looks like they basically wanted this to be a mix of Jak and Ratchet drenched in Banjo. Ugh.

Fuck you, Rare! Do not want!

no one liked the gummiship because it was pointless. you could pretty much make it through the entire game without ever touching the gummiship, and it was just for the on rails stuff.

here the vehicles serve a purpose other than just racing. you're solving platformer like puzzles and getting yourself to new places in levels.

i wouldn't even try judging the music from a teaser trailer. i'd wait for more videos.

Banjo 3 trailer is awesome but...

what did they do to the music theme, jesus christ

Grant's a rocker at heart. He doesn't often have the opportunity to bust out his guitar from Van Halen.

Seriously. Half this thread will probably end up playing and enjoying Too Human at some point.

Folks should at least wait for the demo before commencing the attack.

They really need to just delay Too Human again. If you are going to remove the most compelling thing about the game and the most compelling aspect of that particular genre then do not release it unitl you are ready. This is as dumb as it gets.

I actually agree with this.

You make it sounds like Halo 3 forces you to play co-op with 4 players. You can play it with only two or three people you know.

Is this right?

Gears (UE3) September(ish) 2008 = 4 Player Co-op
Too Human (Not UE3) August 2008 = Not 4 player co-op

Edit: oh wait sorry I thought 4 player coop was confirmed for gears, oops. Never mind.
Regardless, almost two Gears games released before one Too Human game with stripped-down featureset? Does MS contract Greenberg to heckle their own games, by any chance? ;)

The Banjo trailer made me cry, and not of joy :(

Graphicly it looks great but that's about the nicest thing I could say judging from the trailer. Framerate looks very poor aswell.

Happens with pretty much every 360 game.

Reveal: WAT? Vehicles? Rare just shit down my grandmom's throat! And killed my dog!
Day 1: These impressions are piquing my interest but...I dunno...

I agree with the music sounding like something you'd trip to but I thought it was heightened to go with the chaos of everything happening.

A long-jump event is presented, where you simply have to hurtle down a ramp. The machine's power is then cut, and it's a test of how far you can make it roll. First, a vehicle covered with rocket-thrusters takes the mark, a seemingly ideal machine for the task. It rockets forth and gets a decent enough score. The next contender seems unassuming, with only a fraction of the obvious thrusters... but as it takes to the air, its secret is revealed. The whole chassis is ejected away, revealing a much smaller sphere which speeds through the air without the enormous mass, before rolling ever-onwards after hitting the ground.

Oh MY GOD! It's like the space program. Banjo is going to da moon! :D

Take your own advice:

It's funny how everyone is jumping to conclusions

And...

Folks should at least wait for the demo before commencing the attack.

Let's see!

Folks should at least wait for screens. => screens are shitty

Folks should at least wait for videos. => videos are shitty

Folks should at least wait for more news. => major feature removed

Folks should at least wait for demo!!!!!!!!! YESSSSSS!!!!!! :lol

So it seems Banjo is rising to heaven and Too Human is tumbling into hell.

I mean come on SK! Fucking Kingdom Under Fire:COD had four-player coop and your game won't?

By raise of hands, how many people have played the game?

That's what I thought.

I'm barely interested in this game myself but I'm stunned at the level of vitriol towards it.

I am taking my own advice by not jumping to conclusions. The game might be good, it might suck. I'm not damning it nor praising it. I'm waiting til it's done before I judge. Seems logical to me.

I'm kind of getting excited about Banjo reading how fun and free the building aspect of it is, and considering I was already very excited about this game that is saying something!

The dog part is cool of course, but ME set the bar really high for WRPGs.

If Fable 2 is really better than ME they will have a masterpiece on their hands.

People aren't bashing the game because it's 2 player co-op, it's because yet again Dennis hypes shit up and then can't deliver e.g. Peter Molyneux and Fable. Heck I loved Fable even though it didn't deliver near the amount of stuff Peter said it would but GAF rightfully gave him shit over it and we will give Dennis shit for the same thing, deservedly so.

And I defended it until this very day. Now that the feature, that I cared about that made me interested in the game and made it potentially the modern console answer to Diablo has been removed, there is not much left to be excited about. I am going to jump to conclusions because the day they finally announce the release date, they also announce they fucked up the biggest feature of the game. If they just delayed it again until 2009, I would be fine with that.

It would have been better for Dyack if he didn't hype his own game all the time. Overpromise and underdelivering is still better than underpromise and underdelivering.

I agree.. is hard to get 4 people consistently to get thru a full game, and too human seems like it will be a lenghty one.

first vegas 2 removes 4 player co-op from its campaign, and now too human? even kingdom under fire circle of doom supports 4 player online co-op. what the heck? advances in technology are supposed to allow us to play with more people in online co-op, not less.

hopefully sacred 2 sticks with 2 player offline co-op and 4 player online co-op, because it's starting to look a lot better than too human now.

I was gonna say this. Hell i spent 100 plus hours on the Dreamcast version of PSO with 3 buddies of mine. 7 years ago.

We have reduced it to 2-player co-op. The reason we did that is we looked at it, and the way the game is really frantic, and when you have a lot of guys zooming around. We weren't sure that would play out the best. There were also all kinds of balancing issues. That's where we are spending the majority of our time now. People say it looks finished, but we are balancing the RPG system. In order to do it right, and make sure co-op is the best it could be, right now we have it at 2 players. We though that was the absolute right thing to do for the game, and from a gamers point of view....

Give the players the choice to play 2,3, or 4 player COOP. If it's "Too Hectic" then they can stop playing it that way. Why set limits on the game? Limiting game modes is stupid, and trying to justify it like this is pathetic.
