I don't understand it either. Time and time again we've seen that some of these companies aren't the same caliber they used to be nor can make a game in the same vein as the classic titles they love yet they still think they can put out a game that will recapture that nostalgia magic. I mean look how many people want rare, which is a shell of its former company, to make a new banjo game. The denial is mind boggling.

Good sir, having been a Team Ico fan since the early 2000s and a Silent Hill fan since the second one with JRPGs being my number one genre... I'll tell you.
I've waited years for The Last Guardian, and even now, my belief is shaky but here I am. Silent Hills was gonna be the one Silent Hill title that would revamp the franchise this gen. Look what happened.
SE trolled us beloved fans when they announced that FF VII was just a port... so excuse me if I think this is too good to be true and that I'll remain skeptical!

I'd like to offer a few words on the matter.
From 2010-2014 Square Enix was mostly dead to me and I felt similarly. This despite half my top ten games being Squaresoft titles. It's only been in the past year or so that certain figures within the company have sort of come out and started saying Just the Right Things (TM) in Exactly the Right Tones (TM) and I've been lulled into a false sense of security again. Greenlighting Star Ocean 5, updating the FFXV demo, everything Tabata and Yoshida ever say in public, the new president's general candor... it all comes together to have me "#believing." If only a bit.
If only for now.

God I played FFVII so many times, I bought it on PC, on Vita, on the PS3, I was even thinking on getting the PS4 release...

Thats another view I don't understand. When people say that a company is "dead" to them. As a huge squaresoft fanboy square enix isn't dead to me however they're certainly not in the same spot where they were putting out hit after hit either. I'm very cautious when it comes to square enix or most companies in general. Just because they say the right thing doesn't mean they'll deliver. I'm not saying that with 100% certainty that a ff7 remake would be bad but from what ive seen square enix isn't square or squaresoft. Squaresoft always had flash but they had the substance to back it up.
It'd be neat to see any of them, but these predictions seem a lot like tabloids predicting some celebrity is pregnant. Just keep calling it every year because you're likely going to be right eventually.
I'm sure a bunch of people are going to get banned after some of these games don't show up, haha.
Well, it's six in the morning and I haven't slept. It wasn't the most eloquent choice of words I could have made. But it's true that I'd essentially given up hope by that point that the remaining talent in the company would deliver anything to my tastes!

Nah i understand what you're saying. But yea I could understand the excitement of say silent hills because even though the franchise hasn't been all that great of late it had some talented people who were going to work on it at least. People forget that a name or a company doesn't make a good product. Its the people working on it that do.

Kind of dark tonight, really.
Between The Last Guardian, Shenmue and FF7 this is the one I'd last expect to see.
I could see Shenmue returning in some form and I do think TLG will eventually happen - but there's just no way in hell they would pour the money necessary into remaking FF7.

I have chosen to believe. However, if it were true I would pray to almighty Doom that it's not a PS4 exclusive. Could really dig having FFVII on PC at 60fps.
At this rate it'll be the same year as invisible war before that happens
