Shouldn't pacing be faster if something was covered in 13 episodes instead of 25-26 for the same material?

If they had 25-26 episodes I think they would probably have paced the episodes different to end at... I would guess probably around four or five arcs in instead of this season's 3 (Development [Midoriya Origin, Entrance Exam], Entrance [School Intro, Eraserhead's Test, Deku v Bakugou], USJ) (Not official arc names). The next arc after USJ is pretty long, and the one after that probably at least 2-3rds the same length.

The arcs after this one are long, the USJ arc is the only possible endpoint without stopping in the middle of an arc. Hence the strange pacing.

I still feel in a vacuum the pacing is only an issue since right now we're only getting 13 episodes. Years down the line when the show has multiple seasons people who marathon it probably won't have the same issues a lot of people here are since the slower world building pace will better fit a 100+ episode show.

Someone tried to "fix" that Shigaraki moment to bring it a bit closer to the manga

I like it. Nice middle ground between what we got and what we wanted

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
New dub episode tonight. I think the only new voice will be Aizawa. Any predictions on who they'll get?

This episode wasn't that bad compared to the ones that came before it.

Was super surprised by 13's voice lol.

A couple of classmate voices too. Grape head kid sounds like he slurs a lot. Also Tsu didn't actually say "ribbit".

All of the English voices in this show are pretty good so far. I especially like Ochako.

I can't find a single dub voice to complain about really.

I think episode 4 has been my favourite so far. First we get the scene of Izuku finally using One for All which was just fucking epic.
And then the scene with All Might in his results letter. Oh man....the music and dialogue just nail it absolutely perfectly. Both of those scenes get me so pumped up for the show.

Got around to watching the dub of Ep. 2 just because I wanted to see the differences in the "Kacchan Rescue" scene, and I don't really like some of the translations the dub makes.

Deku's "I think there must have been various reasons," is changed to "I don't know why I did what I did."
"You looked like you were asking for help" is changed to "I couldn't just stand by and watch you die."

These both change the implications/tone of what's being said heavily. The story's being narrated by some "Future Deku," and "there were a lot of reasons" make him sound like he's grown a lot and thought back on how he got to where he is. "I don't know why" is like like this "Future Deku" who apparently "became the greatest hero ever" according to his own narration, still doesn't really know why he's motivated to be a Hero. The second one feels like it'll mess up the "Bakugou falls in the river as a child" thing. I doubt Young Deku thought Bakugou was going to *die* from tripping into a stream. "You looked like you were asking to be saved" is way more unintentionally demeaning to Bakugou. "Stand by and watch you die" feels more generic, somehow, and doesn't really sell All Might's reaction to it.

Also, the big emotional punch of the "I think there must have been various reasons" moment is Lil' Deku's "He always saves everyone with a smile on his face!" In the Japanese version this line is loud and clear the last in the sequence. You can tell the "moment" hinges on that line, but in English the sound mixing and timing is off, so all the overlapping memories just sort of get muddled into each other.

"Kacchan" also sound really unnatural in English, but I'm not sure what else they could have done.

The voices themselves seem fine, it just feels like they're rushing the dub out too quickly and not taking the time to polish the script and adapt faithfully.

Meh I didn't think the time changed at all I liked the " I don't know why I did what I did bit" but maybe that's because I started with the dub first. The voices and translation seems to really well done to me one of their best

okay ep. pacing still sluggish but improving slowly (been spoiled by watching Girls und Panzer beforehand which, whatever you want to say about the subject matter, has incredible action cinematography and direction). This was pretty much a one-to-one of the manga with the downside that they didn't bother compensating for the time they spend talking about stuff, so 'instantaneous thoughts' in a single manga panel take like 10 seconds of air time, and the villains look like doofuses for sitting around the boat doing nothing for five minutes.

Mineta's voice is a lot more kiddish than I was thinking, though it fits.

oh yeah... the manga emphasis on the action is way better, though it was cool to see a bunch of the mooks in more detail and their quirks. (The water Abe dude with his waterbending fist was kinda cool).

Ahhhh this is taking so long. I feel like we barely got to see anything again. Might just wait out the last few episodes and binge watch them instead hanging week to week.

Episode was great, i still dont like Dekus voice going so high pitched when he gets nervous/fumbles.

yeah the calling her tsuyu gag was way funnier in the manga cos it was just like a second of dialogue instead of changing the whole tenor of his thing...

also FA translated it as 'proceed at your own pace' which I thought was much funnier

Yooooooooo great episode! But the 1-3 manga panel explanation in anime form was weird lol.

I always love all the SMASH animation in the anime! I like the *grand* feeling they have.

dude had like at least 1 full minute of airtime lining up that smash, lmao.

abe should've just swiped him outta the air

Pretty lame episode since all the lame characters stole screentime from key characters like Bakugou (he didnt say a single word), Kirishima (at least he was back to back with Bakugou), and Kaminari (why did he only get one random clip and then with the same two girls as usual :( ). Ojiro was just in fire but did nothing of significance. Todoroki at least froze something but still offensive treatment for him overall. There was so much better use of time than spending it on bottom tier characters like Tenya, Tsuyu and Mineta.

Kaminari did get an awesome moment

One of the better episode adaptations actually. Still some small hiccups here and there because the director for this show isn't that good and they extend certain quick jokes or scenes way too long sometimes but all in all pretty effective. Shigaraki's close-ups had a good level of detail to make him seem imposing, his VA is pretty spot on, Mineta's VA and everything about him in this episode were great (holy shit, they actually did great on the pause when he describes his powers, that surprised me), Eraserhead romper-stomping foes was pretty great. Not entirely sold on Asui, I mean Tsuya's voice yet or Warp Guy. For some reason they don't click with me like some others.

Best scene was All Might and the Principal. All of that was done great, from his intro to All-Might's little crouching shuffle to their banter. That whole scene was the best one, amusingly.

Something that I do like, that they did last episode and look to be doing next, is giving the class members that didn't get a lot of shine in the first couple chapters of the manga a bit more to do so they feel more like characters and not background until it's time for them to have a progression or whatnot. Of course this is the arc where we're supposed to see a lot of them and finally get an idea of who they are but it's nice to see the effort made.

Also these past 2 chapters have really made Thirteen out to be awesome. I liked him in the manga and whatnot but they way he's been handled in the anime he comes off much more...heroic and cool, I want to say. His speech was really great and how he acts with the kids is cool. I did notice though, in the manga he did stumble like he did in this scene and call Eraserhead sempai? I didn't notice that when reading the manga.

Pretty good episode.

Mineta. Lol.. I'm polish and that word here bassicaly means performing oral sex on a woman. Coupled with his perviness..it's just perfect :D

I like the show but it still hasn't grabbed me yet. To me it feels like something happens without anything happening if that makes sense.

I really like the idea and concept of the show but I guess the pacing of it is what I don't care for.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
Fantastic episode.

Man and the soundtrack is fucking incredible.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
And this is around the point where everyone started to love Tsuyu. Now you know why there's so much fan art of her.
Mineta's a little creep, that's always going to be a constant.

Things are going to get really awesome next time.

taken out because this happens later[IMG]

Is anyone seriously going to complain about Deku being called a smart shounen protaganist?
