It's a photo.
Pinkie's ear.

Dat entire Big Mac body.

Someone forgot to layer properly.

Ah got ya. Pinkie's ear top right, Big Mac's pool inflatable thing, backside and tail bottom left.

Personally, I choose to believe that Pinkie cut those out from a larger photograph to make the picture more dynamic.

Was I the only one who liked that, and also feels it needs to be in all the episodes.

Thought it was funny.

Too disturbing to be funny. *Shudder*

I'm i the only one that was hoping that Big Mac would get his own verse in the song?

That would've been neat, but I can appreciate the desire to keep the "Big Mac rarely speaks" joke rolling along. I was happy to see him getting to sing at all, really.

Not just on a surface level, but the whole meta narrative that comes with a Selfie and Duck face makes it even funnier. Because photo in the real life back in the day didn't come with all the social advancements in connotations ,etiquette , and context that photo has with texts and cell phones. However with this now i am imagining letters and pictures being sit with the same type of etiquette that one would treat with a text message. Just short form words for letters , literal drawings of smiley faces and sad faces being sent. Oh goodness.

Interesting choices in photography to send to people, also comes with counterpart text educate. But i'm leaving that there.

But my point is, this scene provided me with immediate laughter outside of context the scene and I would like more of them

Loved that bit. Wasn't sure how it'd look fully animated after seeing the animatic earlier, but I think it came out brilliantly in the end.

Thanks for the gifs and yeah, the animation team did a grand job as always.
Cant stop staring @_@

With Big Mac being able to pop out of images, I guess thats the final nail in the coffin that the Apples and Pies really are related.

Just watched the episode after coming from the hospital with my right arm broken, put a smile on my face and thats just what I needed right now. Really cute and funny episode, loved the cat's designs, so many of them lol

Maybe they're tease gagging this guy?

That was actually my first thought. Comics bleeding into the show? Sign me the hell up for that.

I don't think that was a cat made of dust...

So it's just occured to me while reading the EQD followup, but this could easily be a reference to well-known (within the fandom, anyway) Brony personality Dustykatt.

Ordinarily I'd have thought that idea was a little far-fetched, but given that we already had a "_____licious" reference in this episode...

I've always liked the Apple family, and this episode made me love them even more. I don't know why, but ever time the Apple family has an episode, it makes me so happy. I just love the Apple family, and this is the best episode yet.

It was so heartwarming to see how welcoming the Apple family was toward Pinkie Pie. I hope they really are related. Just because that would make me so happy. I hope they continue acting like a family anyway. Since they're so cute as a family.

They're so heartwarming and the Apple family is such a great family. That this episode has made me wish I were a part of the Apple family.

Does that make me a furry?

Tough call. Would you say you're more a fan of the warm, family atmosphere or the fuzzy hooves?

Unrelated, but does the furryverse include animals without fur? Like, could you be a furry who was into crocodiles or something?

These are all valid questions.

They're called scalies. There are also avians. I think there are more but those are the only two I remember.

Caught up with the last two episodes today. They served as a nice two-part example of what the series is like when it's just going through the motions, and what it's like when it's busy being the series I fell for to begin with.

For the former, we've done this plot already. Suited For Success saw Rarity's friends taking advantage of her generosity, and Sweet and Elite loosely played it the other way around. Polsky doesn't have much of a knack for the sort of subtlety that made those two episodes memorable, and he burns through half of this one before getting to the conflict. The "generosity will be rewarded in kind" moral the first half establishes gets abruptly thrown out the window, leaving him with the back half to handle "sometimes people suck but don't take it out on your friends". That is a complicated subject to address! So Rarity collapses into total bitch mode, and then everything goes exactly the way she wants it to and she successfully weasels out of the consequences of her actions besides. Sweet and Elite already played that card too, and at least it had the good grace to play it off as a happy accident and tied it into the follow-the-leader social criticism it'd been building up all episode. Polsky's even done this sort of introspective episode well with Too Many Pinkie Pies, but this? No. And that's not getting into the issues with a princess going completely ignored, which I'll chalk up to scheduling butting heads with executive meddling, and the entire ensemble cast being implausibly dragged out again when picking just a few would make for stronger writing. And it's not even all that funny, which is sometimes his saving grace.

At the opposite end of the spectrum we have Pinkie Apple Pie, which sets up its premise straight off the bat and keeps a laser focus on it, and as a result it's well-paced and drives the point home. You have a chance to get invested in the characters and tensions have a chance to build over time, so when everything comes to a head, you actually care. It's a great, heartwarming episode, the likes of which we've seen far too rarely since season one, and loaded with gags that work and one of Ingram's best songs in a while to boot.

The new writers are killing it this season, and I can only assume that's because they're intentionally basing their work on the show's earlier days. Meanwhile McCarthy's writing keeps on feeling like it's missing a good editing pass to work out the kinks, and Polsky and Williams are still wildly variable.

I like the warm, family atmosphere, of course.

And Crash Bandicoot creeps me out. I think I'm going to block your avatar because it's way too creepy. ._.

So do you guys think we will see Lightning Dust or Gilda next Saturday aka Rainbow Dash's "loyalty" episode? Because if she does appear I will bet the writers are building up some kind of anti-elements team.

I'm nervous about Saturday's episode. Rainbow Dash has long since developed past only being concerned about winning, and if winning the Equestrian Games is the only reason she might chose Cloudsdale I will be disappointed. There needs to be a strong hook that would make her seriously think about joining the team. Maybe her dad is the coach or something. This is the place that kicked her out of Flight School, and she went to some hold in the wall Earth pony village to train and became a Wonderbolt Trainee all on her own.

Loyalty to your home town isn't enough?

Hmm

Maybe that one possible rainbow related person in that flash back comes back and is a jealous jerk.

However I believe your situation might be a bit more likely.

Gotta sell dem toys.

We gonna be stuck with this version of MLP for a long ass time. ( not that that is a bad thing )

Delayed review. What I like about this episode were the gags and the song. The one thing I find weird was how Pinkie doesn't even mention her family at all. You'd think she was an orphan all this time. I don't know, maybe it's just me.

Clearly, Pinkie despises her old family... and their rock farm.

Why else would she be so enthusiastic to adopt a new one that isn't boring?

You never know, the families could be related, and Pinkie's got screwed over ages ago inheriting unfertile rocky land while the Apples got the fertile Sweet Apple Acres instead, so mentioning the Pies to the Apples wouldn't cause as much animosity as the other way around...

Yeah, that smirk he does... he's a sinister dude. It was the 90's though, they were different times... *stares off into the distance*

Reminds me of the villains teaming up in Captain Planet to summon Captain Polution. I'm on-board with this idea, if only for old-times sake.

Interesting idea.

Ugh.. The pies are rock farmers. They cultivate rocks. That land is perfect for their needs. If the Apple's had settled there instead of the pies, that place with be covered in trees. Them mother fuckers can grow an apple out anything.

That's earth pony magic for ya.

When you're rife with devastation, there's a simple explanation: you're a toymaker's creation trapped inside a crystal ball.

Can't remember the last time i giggled and laughed like an idiot. This last episode has redeemed the series for me. Will watch the rest so far.

Y'all ready for some
Cheese Sandwich
?

Well, it's still gonna be a couple of weeks.
But here's a sample!

I kinda have mixed feelings about this. I like Weird Al and I'm always keen for musical episodes, but I'm a little worried the episode might end up being a little bit "THIS IS THE WEIRD AL EPISODE! DO YOU SEE HIM?! HE'S CALLED SOMETHING ELSE BUT WE ALL KNOW IT'S WEIRD AL, RIGHT!?"

I'm not really a fan of celebrity casting, especially if there's a risk of it overwhelming everything else. Hopefully I'll just end up getting lost in the party atmosphere and not worry about it.

How does it go for other cartoons with special guest stars?

Depends on the circumstances, really. George Takei as a sentient, smooth-talking human heart in Adventure Time? Totally works in the context of that show. James Woods as an exaggerated version of himself in The Simpsons? Again, works fine.

James Woods as James Woods in Adventure Time though? Not so sure how that one would turn out. That's kinda how I'm feeling about Weird Al in MLP.

To be perfectly honest though, I'm sure I'll end up getting swept up in the music and not really caring in the end.

Wait, what episode is this?

Also, I have to say this probably one of his better appearances since its not just a celebrity guest star, but his actual musical talent is being used. That's how I look at it.

Episode 12, so not this week or next week, but the week after.

And I'd say that's a good attitude you've got. I just noticed that Amy Keating Rogers is writing it too, so we should get some quality lyrics to go with our songs.

Ignore the James Woods stuff, that was just an example.
