My Nintendo Thread: Mii Nintendo, U Nintendo, Wii Nintendo

I was a Club Nintendo member ever since the Zelda Collector's Edition GameCube disc bonus and that is the only physical game reward I can remember ever getting from them or even seeing available. Am I forgetting something or do you live outside the US or....?

Regardless, I don't turn up my nose at free games because they're digital.

They gave out Game & Watch Collection 1 & 2 on DS and a reproduction of Game & Watch Ball.

It was a loose platinum coin right beside my Mii. I got it early on.
Was it there when you loaded the page or did it just pop up while you already on the page? Still can't get it to pop up.

Hmm... Never got the Club Nintendo email.

Also, weren't you supposed to get a bonus for pre-registering Miitomo? I don't think I ever got that either...

Oh shit, just realized. The Miitomo game tickets are due TOMORROW! :P

So as early as tomorrow we may see something new, huh.

I may be wrong, but I don't think that's what it means. I believe the expiry date is just to set a limit of the number you can buy each day.

Do you have to be registered first to receive the Club Nintendo e-mail? How do you get the e-mail? Probably a dumb question, sorry.

Got my 200 Club Nintendo coins and now I'm all Picross'd up. I suppose I'll have to start saving for Wario Ware now. Never played one of those.

Oh, looking at my history, it looks like I did get the bonus for pre-registering Miitomo. I thought those were just coins you started with.

Still no CN email though.

Is this the Nintendo.com secret mission people are talking about?

apparently it was the first mission I completed, must have happened automatically when I activated my MyNintendo account

Would match what they said I assume, it's not listed in the mission page.

Dang. I would've pre-registered had I known I'd be getting an additional 200 coins. So close to getting WarioWare Touched, one of my favorite handheld games.

I'm hoping that it's not the case that those of us who clicked 'stop bothering me with emails' were taken off the club nintendo bonus points list. That's what I'm thinking it could be right now.

I have it set to receive emails, I've always had it set that way. Not sure what it could be, hope I get the email eventually.

Got the Club Nintendo email finally, and redeemed WarioWare Touched. Don't really see any other Platinum point rewards that I care at all about...

Did a skim but couldn't tell if this is known or has been answered already but here goes:

Is there a coin total cap on My Nintendo? Those little coin boxes for Platinum and Gold coins make it look like there might be, but I didn't see anything mentioned in the FAQ about it... Anyone know?

Will I be able to retroactively get gold coins from purchases i made a few days ago?

Nobody answered this question. I'm guessing no.

I'm really against this system if the gold points/gold coins expire (are we just using the terms coins and points interchangeably?). Games already cost as much as they did in the 90s up in Canada. I'm going to be buying my games primarily from EB/eBay/kijiji used from now on.

I don't think it is worth my money if my coins will just evaporate after 6 months. This isn't a loyalty program.

So, anyone else playing Twilight Princess Picross? I can't think of a better place to complain about this: this game uses different controls to literally every other Picross game in existence, and it's utterly baffling and I can't see any option to change them. Basically, in all other Picross games, you hold Up on the D-pad to fill squares and Down on the D-pad to X them. In TP Picross, it's a toggle. You hit Up once and you're in fill mode, hit it again and you stop filling.

They even changed the button controls, too; now it's A to fill and B to X. Just... why? Why would Jupiter change the way it works after literal decades? I've poured hundreds of hours into Picross and I can't get used to this, and I wouldn't even want to because then it'd screw up my normal Picross game. Not letting you use buttons in the menus of Pokemon Picross was a weird choice, but this really goes against all the muscle memory I've built up over all these years.

(OK, so I'll probably get used to it pretty quickly, but, still, y tho?)

Sure would be nice if I could fucking make one of these accounts.

I've tried at least 10 times today. Never got a verification email.

Finally got the Club Nintendo email. Now up to 460. Hopefully I can get the Wario game in time... TP Picross would be nice too but I mostly want the Warioware game.

Did you have to register for an account first to get that or do I have to wait for the e-mail first? I'm so confused. :(

Yeah, you definitely need to get on My Nintendo and connect your Nintendo Network ID to My Nintendo before you'd ever get the email. The email is a sort of "congrats, you're on My Nintendo! BTW here's a bonus for being a Nintendo Club member" thing. But I thought I preregistered for this thing, and then I signed on this morning at ten, and it took all day for me to get the email. And I don't have any points for preregistering so I guess maybe I didn't after all.

To those saying who never got their codes for Club Nintendo or are not getting email verification emails: check your spam folder. That was where my email was located.

However, even though I logged in through Nintendo.com, I'm still not getting my points for that mission.

I got my Club Nintendo loyalty code for My Nintendo. Managed to get into my account without any problems either. So at least for now the worst fears of region locking have been put to rest. Sadly, I don't have enough points to redeem Picross Zelda yet. Gotta go grab Miitomo when I can be assed to.

Completed: pBonusQuestion_001 - 30 Coins
Completed: Collect the My Nintendo sign-in bonus (weekly) - 30 Coins

Is the picking up the coin labeled as the sign in bonus? I think I tapped the coin on mobile earlier when I was doing a lot of the preliminary My Nintendo stuff, but I don't remember if it got me coins or not. It's not there on desktop later on at least.

Also I guess you get a bonus 30 coins for answering the weekly Miitomo Question?

I currently have 1085 platinum coins and l just spent it on Picross first. I'll get WarioWare Touched later since with all the sign in bonuses and miitomo stuff I'll have enough in 3 months.

The true math comes down to whether I can get all these extra Miitomo costumes presumably every month as well.

I'm less worried about the themes since they'll probably rotate back in.

I never got a loyalty e-mail :(

Is this the Nintendo.com secret mission people are talking about?

Scroll to the bottom of the My Nintendo page, and where you see the Mario brick, click it and it will move you to the top, where your Mii will be holding a block. Click on your Mii's block 10 times for 10 coins.

Not sure if there's an OT for Twilight Princess Picross of all things, but I'll at least post this for anyone on the edge of wondering if it's worth it. Also you can post stamps of the puzzles you complete.

Also the music kind of sounds like it's dying at points. It's really strange and I kind of doubt that was a thing in the original piece.

Just received and redeemed 200 free platinum points here in the UK. So I have Twilight Princess Picross downloading, and I'm just 15 points away from claiming one of those sweet My Nintendo 3DS themes.

Yayyyyy! It's 6am and I received my email!!! I'm so happy, of course I was very close and only needed to wait like one more day to have enough points, but the extra 200 is really nice.
I redeemed for Zelda TP Picross, leaves me 185 towards Wario Ware!, should only need to do about six* weeks of tasks to have enough for that.

I think I figured out why the game upgrade fees (apart from the games on sale that register for MyN points at their regular price, despite what Nintendo said about this, as Moon pointed out--so that could still end up being "corrected" by Nintendo) are giving points. That is because, as with the games on sale, the upgrade is "charging" through Nintendo as whatever the price of the full game is, and you are essentially being discounted to the upgrade fee. So if you get an SNES game (you may not want to upgrade an NES or N64 game for the trade-off of the darkened game some report vs. save states and Wii U VC functionality) upgraded, you should get 10 coins. This is the cheapest way to get 10 coins and apart from a game on sale that regularly costs $5 or more, this is the only way to get 10 (or any) coins for less than $5.

So, if you have SNES games you want to upgrade, go for it on Wii U.

(this goes for NOA region only but likely applies to other regions as well. I just bought Murasame for $4.99 and got no points so I can confirm you won't get points for a regularly priced sub-$5 game.)
