You think Player B is more deserving than Player A? Draymond Green is a damn good defender, but in a game that's about crazy high scoring and high flying antics, defense doesn't really matter, and Russell Westbrook is vastly superior to Draymond on offense. If anyone shouldn't be there, it's Kobe, but apparently seeing a dusty old skeleton jacking up airballs really draws the crowds.
The money is included because in the NBA if both teams are over the salary cap (they are) you have to make salaries match.
It's fine to criticize Doc for being a bad GM but signing Josh Smith to a minimum contract and then trading him mid-season didn't do any long or short term damage. He hoped he would get the Josh Smith that was good for 1 quarter of playoff basketball. He hasn't been that guy. He's been the same Josh Smith that went unsigned by Atalanta, traded by Detroit and then unsigned again by Houston.
The same can be said if Lance gets shipped out in the next few weeks. Doc traded Spencer Hawes and the 3(?) years left on his contract to get him.
There's not enough good players in the NBA to pick and choose who you want to compliment your starting line-up, add in the salary cap and you take what you can get as far as bench depth goes. See if it works, if not shuffle your deck and see what's next. The Clippers window is now they're not playing to develop young guys or re-develop old guys.

Team has always ignored Blatt and went directly to Ty Lue for everything the past year and a half. Blatt was always the seat warmer. You don't pay a guy 5 million to just be an assistant.
Of course the timing is completely idiotic, but that's Gilbert being Gilbert. Shouldn't have gotten indecisive in the organization and hired 2 coaches anyways.

I guess if they really hated Blatt or something, but SAS and GS simply have better rosters. No coach will change that (and 31-8 otherwise is damn good).

Can at least get firing Blatt for someone with a more established track record like Thibs. But firing him for an assistant on the same very staff is just illogical. If you think the team was underperforming replacing him with the guy who was basically the assistant head coach and giving that guy an extension just makes no sense.
