NBA 2015- 16 Regular Season IOTI - NBA GAF Is Pretty Dead Considering This Fact

It's so disgusting that Harden leads the NBA in free throw attempts at 507, and the closest person behind him is Boogie at 403. Even Westbrook is 150 less at 356.

I don't know what Harden has on the league, but it's ridiculous how many calls he gets compared to others. Jump into somebody, flop, head to the line. So unwatchable.

3rd quarter mavs is the worst, lose a double digit lead when you put Charlie V in the game

Now we prolly gonna lose to the fking Suns

I was hoping Knicks would keep it respectable and lose by less than 15. Sigh.

Someone should file a missing persons report on Afflalo

MKG was 2 for 2 from 3 last night after not having attempted a single 3 pointer last season

it was against the lakers, yes, but he looked great. finished with a double double, 19 points and 12 rebounds (4 offensive rebounds), 3 assists, 1 steal, and was 6 for 7 from the field. he also finished with the biggest +/- of anyone on the team at +24.

feels good to have him back. hopefully that long ball keeps falling.

lol Wasn't he considered for Coach of the Year a few years ago? He's had nothing but a squad full of dysfunction for the longest time.
Yeah, seems like firing the GM would have made more sense. Hornacek overachieved with the two point guards. Then the front office brought in a third! Maybe it was a hedge against Dragic leaving but instead they lost Dragic and Thomas. The Morris twins signing was defensible at the time but just worked out horribly. I love Tyson Chandler, but And Hornacek can't be accountable for the spate of injuries going on right now, can he?

1 Jimmy Butler, SG CHI 46 1752 38.1

Jimmy leading minutes again gosh damn it

Hoiberg,,,,,,,,you were supposed to fix this....not be Thibs 2.0 minutes wise and instead with worst defense.

I don't know if Hoiberg is fully going to work for the bulls.....guy just can't seem to figure out lineups. McDermott lost us the game in 4th because the kid can't play defense.....period! He's too damn slow!!!

Players-only meetings are as cliched as an older player coming back in the best shape of his life. We hear it all the time but ultimately it means very little in the grand scheme of things.

A renovation of Philips Arena, a key component of keeping the Atlanta Hawks in downtown, could be a $200 million to $300 million project, and Mayor Kasim Reed said Monday the public portion of that deal could be as high as $150 million.

In an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Reed reiterated his stance that he expects to reach a deal to overhaul the downtown arena in the first quarter of this year. He said the total cost and the taxpayer portion of the overhaul hasn’t been fixed, but the city has identified a range of $100 million to $150 million that it could afford to finance.

The Atlanta Fulton County Recreation Authority owns Philips Arena and can issue bonds, but a potential deal of this scale will require the city to help “backstop” bond financing, Reed said.

“We have not settled on the number, but what we have looked at is our own capacity of what we can comfortably finance,” he said in an hour-long meeting with AJC reporters and the newspaper’s editorial board. “We think that number is between 100 million and 150 million (dollars).

“The total project would be anywhere from 200 million to 300 million (dollars),” he said.

Reed said the sources of funding haven’t been determined, but rental car taxes are likely to be part and he did not rule out funding from the Westside Tax Allocation District.

In October, the AJC first reported talks between the city and the Hawks about a significant arena remodel. At the time, Reed said the overall remodel could cost $150 million to $250 million. While Reed acknowledged then that public funds would be involved, he did not discuss an amount of potential public funds.

The renovation would be extensive and involve doing away with the wall of luxury boxes on one side of the arena. Reed has previously said a remodel also would involve connecting disjointed corridors for better flow of fans and opening corridors to the court.

Taxpayer funding of stadiums is a polarizing issue, and if a new agreement involving public funds is struck to rehab Philips, it’ll be the fourth deal reached since 2013 between a metropolitan Atlanta government and a major league franchise involving public subsidies for a sports facility.

The Falcons and Atlanta struck a deal for $200 million in bond financing for the nearly $1.4 billion Mercedes-Benz Stadium. That deal also will involve hundreds of millions more in public money for financing costs, operations and stadium upkeep over 30 years. Cobb County leaders lured the Braves away from Turner Field with an offer of $368 million in public funds for the future SunTrust Park. And the Atlanta United FC franchise will receive public support for their headquarters and training facility in Marietta.

The Hawks’ future at Philips — the team’s home since 1999 — has been in question since June when an ownership group led by billionaire investment guru Antony Ressler acquired the team. Ressler and fellow owner Grant Hill, in an interview with the AJC’s editorial board at the time, would not rule out moving the Hawks elsewhere in the region.

Philips Arena opened before the 1999-2000 NBA season and was home to the Hawks and the city’s former NHL franchise, the Thrashers, before the hockey team was sold and moved to Winnipeg in 2011.

Philips and surrounding infrastructure upgrades, including parking and streetscape, cost $213 million to build. The stadium was financed by private investment and about $150 million in public bonds, backed by stadium revenues (with any potential shortfalls backstopped by city of Atlanta and Fulton County taxpayers). Rental car taxes paid for infrastructure improvements.

The annual debt service of about $11.9 million is supported by operating revenue from the stadium, according to bond documents obtained by the AJC.

The recreation authority which owns Philips, refinanced the $124.5 million in bond debt in 2010. It is scheduled to be paid off in 2028.

Incredibly Naive
Will say one thing, the cavs are playing much better as a unit since the change on offense.

Another nailbiter from the nets. The upcoming stretch is deadly with multiple games in the near future against philly, against the suns, and against the wolves. I really don't think the grip on 3rd will last much longer :(.

Durant to the Warriors would literally break the NBA. "Not 1, Not 2, Not 3, Not 4, Not 5" would not be a meme/joke, it would be a realistic expectation. Therefore...I highly doubt there's any chance.

Damn, Atlanta sports fans are getting screwed lately. Wonder if this will in any way tie into whether the Hawks will be sellers at the deadline.

Durant to Warriors won't happen - not too worried. I literally cannot imagine a lineup with Durant Curry and Klay on the same court. Terrifying.

I'm starting to hear a little more buzz about the Celtics picking up activity for the trade deadline. There's almost no doubt that they will trade at least a pick or two. They have no room for 3 first round picks this season. Right now they'd have 3, 19 and 21. I don't think they'll move the Nets pick at the deadline - it's probably only going to get more valuable near the draft. I bet they move their own and that Turner, Young, and one of Sullinger/Olynyk is gone for a big or stretch 4/shooter upgrade. Horford is my dream (well Boogie is - but not gonna happen).

The Mavs are being annoyingly good.

There is no point in the Celtics using all those picks when Young, Rozier, Hunter and Mickey can't sniff the court. They need to consolidate assets to get a good asset or the picks are just a waste unless having an allstar D league team is the goal.

The problem is that every other team knows that the Celtics are going to have to get rid of some picks and/or young players. Or they're going to have to draft and stash a lot of guys.

Yeah, this is no secret. Unfortunately I don't think there are quite as many big names out there at this deadline, though that could chance in a week or two. It's tricky for them; how do you value a 20% or so shot at Ben Simmons, plus guys like Young, Olynyk, Sully, etc? Do you give them up for Gordon Hayward? For Horford? Hell, for Dwight Howard? What if Melo comes available?

Luckily they have an incredible amount of flexibility given their assets and contracts. The Isaiah, Bradley and Crowder contracts all have to be in the top 10 or 15 best contracts in the league, and each of them is Young and improving drastically each year. The frontcourt needs some sorting out.

That doesn't matter that much if the Celtics have players, picks, or cap room that they want.

Celtics best hope on earth is that the Nets keep losing and get lucky in the lottery

Simmons or Ingram will hel their team a lot as they are really only missing a great player

Brooklyn though has absolutely no reason to tank, so I could see them passing the Suns and Timberwolves up

If there is any person that should be kicked out of the league, it is Billy King
