NBA 2k14 Next Gen : OMG Trailer

need more gameplay. what about performance? lighting looks good but other than that, the trailer wasn't omg at all. those "cinematic" animations that players do will get repetitive anyways. and lebron...yuck.

so much wrong in so little words

There would be zero OMG if a sports game company showed the pulled out camera sideline view of gameplay for a trailer. It doesn't look at all impressive for a trailer.

Maybe they can do that for more of the gameplay footage videos but not for a trailer.

You can thank the Miami Heat for the awesome song choice. It was in the team's intro video for a while a couple years ago :p

I take it back about people jumping the gun to early....
Just what was that footage EA showed back at E3 for all their sport titles lol

And even with that 2K utterly destroys it

Coming from someone that doesn't even care much for sports games in general, that was very impressive looking. Great song choice as well.

just need to see features, mechanics, and an actual gameplay video now and I will buy this at launch.

I'm worried this will be a repeat of Madden 06 or NBA 2K6, where it's really pretty but a bunch of stripped out features

Wouldn't surprise me if MyPlayer is out, as well as the Ultimate Team thing

No way they remove MyPlayer. That's one of the game modes that people buy the thing for. That's like their flagship game mode.

This game looks fantastic. NBA 2K14 (current-gen anyway) is the closest to a perfect simulation of NBA basketball yet. If you're planning on getting this without familiarity of basketball I suggest studying up a lil bit.

Was going to get this one digitally but that 50 gig download. Sheesh. I'm real curious to find out if download speeds are dramatically improved on new PSN, but I'm not willing to test that with a 50 gig title.

And yes, I've tried both ethernet and wireless and it's still super slow so please don't tell me that PSN downloads aren't a problem.

When is madden's exclusive deal with the NFL done? NBA2k series is so far ahead of live.. I can only imagine what the nfl2k series would be like nowadays had madden not gotten the exclusive rights

As someone who plays these games every year, that's one thing I would warn to new players as well.

2K has become extremely sim heavy. If you don't know the rules of basketball, or watch NBA at all, you'll have a bad time. Sure, you can knock the difficulty down to rookie and turn off a bunch of rules, but the game is not a lot of fun that way. It's built from the ground up to mimic actual NBA games.

If you don't like actual NBA basketball, you probably won't like this game. Your best hope is for another NBA JAM, or for EA to bring back NBA Street.

This was the last year. However the NFLPA said the want to stay with one company, the NFL hasnt said anything

Those are really impressive animations if they actually work like that during gameplay.

The animations look real

Makes ea's animations look even more pathetic than they already do

There's one thing that 2K has over Live (and Madden and NHL and maybe Fifa) is face capturing.

It just seems they capture more faces whereas in Live and NHL, EA tends to go with generic faces for a lot of players because they don't have the resources (time/money) to do photo sessions or scans.

Looks like I'll be picking this up at launch even though I'm not that big of a basketball person. I'll definitely cement my choice when I see more game play and find out about the different modes and features.

whats gonna suck is that 2k15 pc is still gonna be current gen ones probably. they don't really give a damn about the pc version (am surprised they still put them out annually!)

IMO 2K presentation is better also. I still have fond memories of NFL2K5 halftime show with actual highlights of the games that were played

Seriously. I started playing this series with 2k11 and haven't skipped a game since, and I actually learned a hell of a lot about actual basketball just by playing and learning the game. There were elements of the game that I barely even knew how to use, like the post game or calling for a pick, until last year. There is just incredible depth to it that can be intimidating to a novice.

That animation engine needs to be updated to modern standards and not one single clip suggests they have done so.

The animations are already close to that in current gen NBA 2K, so I imagine it'll look exactly like this in gameplay, albeit from a normal gameplay camera perspective. They do really nice replays though for big plays, where you'll get some nice close angles like you see in the trailer. There's also awesome highlights at half time and at the end of games. It's a nice touch to make it feel like an actual game. With the graphics improved as they are now, man, should be awesome.

Yes man! I never play basketball games, but my son loves 2K. This wasn't on my radar, but that trailer made me preorder it just now. My son's gonna shit kittens when he plays this on the PS4!

These games have always had animation priority in order to make it look like real basketball. It comes with the package. Understandably, some people don't like it. It's there to create a realistic looking sim experience, even if it takes some of the direct control away from you.

Sold!!! With watch dogs out this moves in. So nba gaf, tell me what I am missing with this next gen version, I don't get lebron mode right?

I don't care for basketball (or any other sport sim for the matter) but... wow!

Why would anyone want to watch the RL game when you can play the almost better looking one yourself?

Oh, nextgen, I welcome thee!
