Man I just bump up all my team attributes by 1 or 2 points to make up for the computers ultimate cheesyness. Even with that my games are going down to the wire. Once I get fully acclimated I go ahead and bump the difficulty up all the way. I've done this with every 2k since the dreamcast.

Does this game still have the worst menu system in software history? I remember it being so bad in the previous games I wouldn't even play it because I didn't want to deal with the shit convoluted menus
I think we're gonna need a new thread for people experiencing this PSN glitch issue. I've had the game since launch and still haven't been able to get online. I never get the NBA Today menu options because I'm never able to accept the agreements. It always says the servers aren't responding but that's incorrect. I've been scouring the web for people with issues but most people have no idea what's going on. 2K needs to know about this and fix it ASAP. The only workaround is to create a new PSN account but I already have the free 30 day PS+ tied to my account.

I think they do, cause like you said on practice court I was making shots but when I get in game everything misses. Or if I play with an actual nba team in quick game I can also make shots, but with my player nothing. I've got a three point specialist and I can hit them for shit not to mention there have been some shots that dont even make it to the rim...
I think 2k did this shit on purpose to "simulate" realism, like how you sit on the bench the first few games with no minutes and then you get an opportunity to show your stuff. I really hate mycareer now, after playing and loving 2k13 mycareer I was looking forward to it in 2k14 with the upgrade visuals.

I played a couple today and it was lagless. Complete opposite of my 2K11 PS3 experience.

sounds weird but that's how I feel about it. Playing the actual games is great fun and some pretty cool things happen, but everything that surrounds it just dampens the mood. The shitty menus, the always online-esque things, the shit they took out because reasons, the pay to win shit, MyPlayer is basically scripted and they ruined the association mode with extra nonsense that only serves to complicate things (along with taking out features there too). It is just really difficult to even play this game because as soon as you want to do something else, you are reminded of how much shit they fucked up.
Once again, they are sooo lucky Live is so bad. But this is basically how 2k began to fail in Hockey and Baseball..

The "That's Why He's The King" trophy on PS4 won't activate for me. Broken? You have to shoot 93% with Bron with a minimum of 14 FG attempts. I've done it twice today going 13/14 one game, which is what he did last year, and 15/16. Didn't get anything when the game was over. I've gotten the other player trophies though: Paul George, Steph Curry, and Chris Paul.
Sorry bro. You have to uninstall it. I thought for a while that it was on my end, but it's 2K.
-First Uninstall the game and all related files.
-Disk version: Allow the game to completely install from the PS home screen. Before starting.
-PSN version: Allow the entire game to download before starting.
-After a the installation, give it some time to notify you of the patch download. Allow the patch to download and install before starting the game.
Basically, don't play this particular title while it's still installing.
I'll echo what's already been said. Outside of gameplay, what a huge disappointment. I haven't purchased a full price/launch sports title in years, and I'm greeted to this? Granted it's a launch title, but it just seems lazy. I'm playing the wait and see game with the next title. Not going to be fooled twice.

Don't you play the game though? On the court this is a pretty good nba2k title, let alone a launch title. Yeah the menus are meh...but that alone makes you upset versus the actual game play being good?

This question wasn't addressed to me but I thought I'd chime in. The gameplay is good but I'm pretty disappointed in quite a few of the features. The feature that disappoints me the most is definitely the MyGM mode, it's a horribly watered down version of the previous Association modes.
As for the menus, I'd say they are worse than meh, they are some of the laziest menus I've seen in a while. The fact that you have to go to NBA Today and then press O to even see a mention of any online mode is crazy. Lastly, not being able to play anything but quick matches if you can't connect to the 2K servers is bullshit.

I've only played it for a little while but the biggest problem for me is trading players, unless I'm doing something completely wrong trading players now works like it does in the iOS version. You can just select two players and trade them for each other, it doesn't matter what the other team thinks about it or if the salaries match up. I'll sim a season later and see if it gets any better/worse but so far it has left a very bad impression.

I will say that the new MyPlayer mode is good cheesy fun so far.
I'll agree about accessing the online menu. That was a terrible decision to place it where it's currently located.
Sure I play the game. I just feel features wise, it's a stripped down version of the PS3/360 version. Lot's of missing options in the rules section etc... It plays a good game of basketball, but the pretty graphics aren't enough to hide the fact that this feels like a rush job.
Can't wait to see what they do with next year's game. Polish it up, stop focusing so much on current-gen, add in all the features... make those glorious graphics even better. Gonna be goooood.
Doesn't seem like there are many people offering tips in this (or any other?) thread so let me voice some sympathy. Friends and I spent all weekend playing it on Pro vs. comp and we couldn't beat it (granted it was vs. Thunder). We didn't really try to learn any exploits or anything just play "real" as much as we could. We could always hang in first half but then third quarter it would fall apart on the heels of that plus the CPU getting ten offensive boards for every one we got. Ton of transition baskets and our guys couldn't make anything. I've been messing around on single player and here's what I've found useful. Played two games on it and lost very close ones both:So, this is my first 2k basketball game...and I simply don't get it. I suck so bad. I have it on rookie or whatever the lowest skill level is, and I was losing 38-13 at halftime before quitting. I can't drive the lane, they block me. I can't pass it down low very often, it either gets knocked away or stolen, or if I do get a shot off I miss it 75% of the time. All I can really do is pass it around the perimeter and occasionally make a 3-pointer. This is on the EASIEST skill level.
I bought it because of the graphics, I'll be honest, but I do like sports games. I get The Show every year and occasionally get Madden.
I'd happily trade this straight-up for Fifa if I could find someone.
-Turn on all plays and view all plays. Then just bring your PG to the spot and run a play. This creates a lot of scoring opportunities that otherwise wouldn't happen.
-You don't always have to run a play of course (sometimes they seem to not go through for no reason) but avoid trying to take it end to end with one guy or trying to score off the first pass. It's almost like the game actively punishes this. Work it around.
-Don't try to be a hero on D. For now I am sticking to playing a big man who's covering a terrible offensive player so I can free roam a bit. I use both the Intense and Sprint buttons a decent amount of time. Don't know if Intense is good or bad or what but it does lock me in to the player better.
I know it's not the cool thing to do since Slider makers do so for the hardcore, but I think there would be a huge userbase for carefully crafted sliders for new players.
So online mode seems to be fully working now for me, without using an alternate account. (edit - the fix according to various forums was to create a new PSN account and then log into the game).
After logging in, it makes sense why the offline quick game was affected by the server problems - the commentary system seems to pull data from a server (such as who Miami really played last night) and works it in as part of the "live" commentary. There are bits and pieces of commentary that are integrated into the system.

Yeah it's a shame, no base season mode is probably the worst.
One of the biggest annoyances ever to me in terms of how sports games have evolved, apart from non-existent manuals and documentation, is how just a regular Season mode with some nice frills is just non-existent nowadays. Either you have to be some freak who plays 30 seasons of franchise and likes to adjust popcorn prices in your spare time, or you have to be some loser with enough time to get competent at online play. This is ignoring like 90% of the audience.

I actually love price setting and buying upgrades, but that's about as far as it goes. Don't like scouting, min/maxing staff and all that other stuff. Just give me games, trading and stadium/team customization and I'm good.

As far as I know the only "season" mode that's in is MyGM where you get bombarded with other menial crap.
They somehow managed to make the menus even worse, I have no idea how.
For a new player, not easy at all to be honest. The controls are a beast. But if you stick with it you'll get the hang of it soon enough.
Smokey are you supposed to use the stick for all shots? I do it for low-post stuff but never acclimated to it otherwise.
There is a season mode. Its just hidden inside MyGM...You have to hit R1 or R2 to scroll to it.

Anyone else disconnecting in the middle of online matches? Keeps telling me that an error occurred and no win/loss will be assigned. Something like that.

I use the stick for everything in the paint, including dunks, hooks, post moves, etc. There are so many awesome shots in the paint you will not be able to do simply with the SQUARE button.
I use SQUARE for my jump shots. Feels much more precise for jumpers.
