I decided to pick up NBA 2K26 on the Nintendo Switch 2. I'm not sure about the framerate yet—my guess is 30 FPS—but we'll need official confirmation. That said, I really like the streamlined shooting mechanic. It feels more arcadey compared to the last 2K I played, which was NBA 2K19, and I already enjoy it a lot more. Honestly, it gives me vibes of NBA 2K11, the classic Jordan game on Xbox 360 and PS3.

That said, I've never seen more confusion around a system than with the Switch 2. Even the official Nintendo eShop page for this version listed the wrong download size at first! For the record, the install is around 73GB, and just like Madden, it needs to go on the NS2's internal storage—not the microSD Express cart.

One thing that really stands out is 2K's aggressive onboarding. The very first time you boot the game, you're immediately asked for your date of birth, email address, and to accept their policies before you can even touch the main menu. It feels pushy and kind of sets a corporate tone before you even get to the fun.

On the visual side, the modern teams look fantastic, though the historical teams aren't quite on the same level. Gameplay itself is faster and more arcadey, almost threading the needle between NBA 2K and NBA Live.

This is just my impressions 45 minutes into the game. Please post your impressions and thoughts below.

I buy annually- not proud of it, but bball is #1 for me. I would pay $150 for the best edition to get the included league pass and this year they removed that - So I anticipated stalling through Black Friday's eventual $30 pricepoint.
The game looks like they finally made some improvements to actual gameplay that are much needed and with a nice visual bump. Looking forward to diving in.

I do think they should split off the MyPark stuff or whatever into a Free to play game. Microtransaction the heck out of it like they already do, allowing players to keep building their player over time. Right now, redoing that year after year is crazy. LOL. I stopped after year 2.
That being said, it would allow the core game annually to be the focus. Wishful thinking.

It's disappointing the game is only 30fps on Switch 2 while it was 60 on PS4. I know new engine and stuff, but. I believe a sports game should always aim for 60

Below is just notes i have written down while i played.

So…wow…odd. If you install on the micro sd card it boots you to the main title screen. Where you pick your option. "Play now, my career," etc.

BUT if you install it directly on NS2 internal storage, it boots into "My career".

A part of me wonders if this is a port of the ps5 version slowed down, or a ns1 version with the new elements added on. Serious question. No cloth physics and some stuff looks perfect, while other things look rough.

Either way, this is far more fun to play than 2k19. I can already tell if you play in home multiplayer, this is a better game.

Microtransactions are AGRESSIVE!!!! I wouldn't be surprised at this rate if they add real commercials and online sports betting ads at some point.

Again, historical teams look kinda bad in comparison to modern teams. Maybe it is just the facial scan tech.

I hate saying this…but one hour in…i think i like this better than Madden on Switch 2. I am an EA guy overall, and College football and Tiger Woods golf are the GOATS. But 2k does seem fun!?

Gawd Damn, does the Switch 2 get hot with NBA 2k. Just like madden. Sounds like the interior fan will explode.
