LeBron playing in the West would still be the best forward and likely best player overall.

Irving in the West would be maybe fifth best PG?

Thompson, Love and JR in the West wouldn't even chart.

With that lineup supported by the Cavs bench I guess it's really not shocking that the Finals have turned out this way so far.

Is Lue getting canned if they lose? I read that he didn't sign an official deal yet, but reports said he was signed to 3 years back when it was announced

Neogaf Cav fan have more heart than the Cavs players last night, they straight rolled over and gave up ....Cavs fan deserved better then that....and LeBron need to quit whining and just be a player, not Coach/GM ...

If they can fire him, who would they hire? JVG? Mark Jackson? Calipari?

If Lebron is still there, just about every coach available lol? I'm pretty sure anyone would love to coach the second best player in the world who happens to be one of the 10 best players of all time.
Seriously? If you want to coach you wouldn't want to start with a team that's made the finals twice in a row and has at the least the second best player in the NBA? Get a grip.

with lebron's reputation as a player on the tail end of his career? I'm not so sure. plus even if someone were to do a good job they could still get canned.

Seriously.

You know what gets coaches fired more than anything? Having shitty players.

Blatt lasted one year and a half, coaches with shitty rosters last longer. At least with shitty players coaches tend to last longer and given more evaluation time. If you're not liked by Lebron and struggle a little bit then goodbye in Cleveland.

I think you're underestimating how much coaches think of themselves. I would be willing to bet that almost every available coach right now thinks that they're the guy the Cavs need to push them over the top. The idea of being paid the majority of a four year contract after being fired half-way through year 2 probably doesn't hurt either.

I can live with the Cavs losing...I expected it. But this losing by 30 is embarrassing and pathetic. And it's not just that Love and Irving are a defensive liability and that's why things are much worse than last year. Everyone is playing worse, even Lebron. At one point, he was just lobbing up threes, like he stopped caring and just gave up. I can't really point to anyone playing up to expectations or exceeding them on the Cavs, except maybe Richard Jefferson. And you know you are going to lose when that's true. So here we are fully healthy, no excuses, and likely to get swept. They would have to win the next two at home to make it a series. I don't see it.

But yeah, I have nothing but good things to say about the Warriors. They deserve this and they are playing very hard and giving it all.

Looks like the Warriors will win the trophy at Cleveland. I was hoping for a trophy presentation at Oakland

Don't lose at Cleveland on purpose just for that.

Kobe should get the Cavs HC job just for the drama.

Lebron might as well try to score as many points as he can.

Yes. Lebron needs to go old school (like 2007 Cavs) and just drive on every play until he runs out of steam. Just get out of his way and hope for the best. Likely to still lose, but it will be entertaining at least.

I see a blowout in cleveland as well. Warriors were barely even woke at home--they'll be hyped for something more competitive in cleveland and the result won't be pretty

GS will maybe spot them game 4 just so they can celebrate on their home floor

In retrospect, a few things:

-I still have a hard time believing that both Klay and Curry scored less than 20 and the margin of victory doubled. That's nuts.

-Cleveland looks outmatched. It's 75% matchups, but the other part is effort, heart, will, whatever. Cleveland just looks shook in every way.

-I agree with the posts about LeBron needing to just say fuck it. The guy should just put up 35 shots. This roster is full of clowns.

-The Warriors still haven't even played that well. They have literally been turning it on in spurts and that's been more than enough. They could never do that in the OKC series.

-I could seriously see anyone getting Finals MVP for the Warriors if they win this series. I mean, Klay could go off for 35 next game and then we will have Shaun-Draymond-Klay and what will decide the FMVP?

-The East is garbage. Let's just be real - you can talk all you want about 2-8 - but the playoffs are about stars and how they make their teams better. The East has no players with playoff gall besides Wade and Paul George. Full of regular season teams. The top 1-15 players in the league have 13 coming from the west. This is the most shining example of coasting through playoffs and meeting a juggernaut and being shell-shocked. The Warriors were primed by the Thunder perfectly.

maybe one day a star from the west will be smart enough to go east

No lies detected

Did we confirm Rambis is still alive? One of his last posts was early in the game declaring Warriors were not really that much better than the Cavs

Yeah, where these folks at?

A few posters were talking a mighty big game and hand-waving any attempt at factual reasoning by a lot of others. Did they all just bail after halftime, or what?

The Cavs are taking a lot of heat for this, but in retrospect considering how shit the East was is it really that shocking that a team that won 73 teams could clown on the Cavs like that at home?

I hope the series is not over and that the Cavs find some way to turn it around but man they looked horrible in the first two games. JR Smith flat out looks scared to be on the court. And they can play good defense in spurts, but they can't maintain it and are giving up too many wide open shots and dunks and layups on miscommunication and miss assignments.

Reading posts here I get the sense a portion of Gaf blames Lebron.

He hustled like crazy for 3 quarters. He guarding, stealing, driving, creating. He was great.

No one on the Cavs team was doing much of anything after Love left. There is a serious problem with that team.

The worrying thing for me for Cleveland (apart from obviously being down 2-0) is that I don't think they've played all that terribly really, I don't think the Dubs have hit their peak, and neither game has been close in the 4th. It's just hard for me to imagine them winning in Oracle. This is just a nightmare matchup for them and I'm not sure where they go.

It's totally possible they win both games on their home floor, but something has to change and I'm not sure what that is.

Eh, I wouldn't say he was great in game 2 or game 1.

For his standards those were not good games.

I agree that he cannot do it by himself, but the Cavs probably can't win a game unless he is just absolutely dominant for 35+ minutes on both ends of the floor.

First of all, I don't think James is playing well at all. But anyway, people blame James because he built the team, chose the coach, etc.

I don't think the Cavs are a bad team. After all this is the team that everyone wanted on the floor. They were a #1 seed. They went 12-2 in the conference playoffs. Everyone was saying this team was peaking when they destroyed Atlanta. It's just that the Warriors are way, way, way better and don't have any of the nerves they had last year.

I agree with you.

Sometimes the other team is just better for that year, or that month or in that series. I hated the matchups for Cleveland coming into the series. The only surprise to me is how the Warriors have shut their offense down. In theory the Cavs should be able to get some mismatches and I also thought Bron and co. would be able to put some real pressure on them in translation. So far that has definitely not been the case the Cavs intensity is nowhere near the Warriors (understandable after what they both went through to get to the Finals).

That said, fuck the Warriors and Klay Thompson. I didn't care who won before but now I have to make a stand. You guys ain't got shit on Showtime! Don't lie to the people because your dad didn't give you enough attention! Go Cavs!

The reason the Cavs are getting their asses kicked is because without Lebron they are an 7th-8th place team. Now they are playing a legitimate #1 team that can guard their best player and limit his ability to pull the rest of this dumpster fire squad out of the abyss. The east isn't equiped with players to handle Lebron. Clevelands only 2 way players are Delly and Lebron.

But hey. Lebron hand picked the team so its totally okay. He really is the best player in the world but there are legitimately teams in the east better than Cleveland in the vast bulk of positions that simply get crushed because he is that good. But the top tier west competition is another story.

Soon as the Warriors run started they seemed to bail and not return. Compare the first few pages of this thread to the last few pages of the thread lol.

GAF has always hated LeBron. Don't think much of it. He deserves some of the blame for his GMing, but everyone is playing like hot garbage, especially JR. He's totally shook just like last year.
