NBA Offseason 2017 |OT| Only Big Ballers™ Allowed *please pay $495 to be a Big Baller

Yeah, Bill Simmons sort of talked about this on his last podcast. Like the Grizz are being penalized for having two all-stars in Conley and Gasol. Makes them too good for tanking, but not an actual contender.

On the other hand, Zach Lowe was talking about how there are opportunities that open up when you are a good team. He keeps bringing up the point that Chris Paul doesn't come to Houston if we don't go and get Gordon and Anderson and become a 55 win team. Gordon Hayward doesn't consider Boston if they didn't have a 53 win team and Brad Stevens coaching out of his mind. Lowe said that he knew agents and that the 30-11 run by Miami had legitimately led to interest in Miami, in its culture, and how it helps put players in great shape.

More and more, players do seem to give a shit about whether your team has it together, whether the organization has a good culture, etc.

I think some changes definitely need to be made to balance things out a little more, but things are shifting in a positive direction in many ways. What's more, with cap space suddenly becoming a major asset again, and the number of teams with cap space declining, teams that preserve their cap space will be on the market soon again for big free agents. Barring another cap spike, there shouldn't be another "the Warriors have enough space to sign Durant" event.

Morey expressed some frustration about how badly timed our terrible 2015-16 season was. If our 2015-16 season had gone the way of either our 2015 or 2017 season, the Rockets would have had a real shot at Durant smh

he looked good in the playoffs and earned a lot of playing time, he's got potential.

He has no passing ability as a guard and he plays wildly out of control. Besides Zeller there was nobody I dreaded more on the floor. Glad he's gone if so.

He provided a ton of energy and he wasn't turning the ball over much in the playoffs. I'm pretty sure he was near the top in +/- too.

Didn't you laugh at +/- when amir was revealed to be one of our best in that regard?
I laughed at Amir's RPM because anyone watching knew that he wasn't impacting the game like that. Rozier on the other hand played really well against the Bulls and Wizards and his +/- reflected what we were seeing. You really don't remember how well he played in those two series?

His plus minus was 4th worst on the season for the team. Only James young, Jordan Mickey, and jaylen were worse.

I remember what I've seen of rozier. He is a ridiculously streaky shooter who can get to the rim at will and flail around with no ability to finish. An undersized guard who can't distribute and has a poor feel for the game. He had some nice games in the playoffs, bit not nearly enough for me to think he's valuable.

Rockets officially announce signing of Zhou Qi.

Terms not disclosed.

Dude has a really smooth jumper. Hopefully he can develop well in the g-league, like Capela, Harrell, and now hopefully Nanu all did, and then help contribute in a year or two. Think he might be considered a steal after about 2 years.

He needs to bulk up though.

Him and Jaylen both had really bad regular season +/- but they also had nice playoff runs, why are you only giving credit to Jaylen for that? He's a solid prospect who I think could turn into a Reggie Jackson in OKC energy guy off the bench, and he's far from a Zeller type disaster of a player.

Jaylens flaws were a lot more fixable. He really struggled with rotations which lead to easy buckets. We also know jaylen is raw and younger and flashes in the places he needs to. Terry on the other hand will always be small and it dramatically affects his ability to finish. Yeah I know we have IT but that's 1 in a million and IT could always score anyways. You realize he was a massive reach at 16 right? Most projected him in the 2nd.

Rozier's biggest flaw is that he plays out of control and turns the ball over. He earned a lot of PT in the playoffs by reeling that in and keeping the TOs low. I don't really care where he was mocked to, he's clearly a very raw prospect coming out of college just like Avery was. Avery looked like he didn't even know how to play basketball his rookie year, and now he's one of the best 3&D guys in the league. You never know if he'll put it together or not.

Avery was a good defender from the second he stepped on the floor. He was more efficient as a shooter and he was able to carve a niche for himself with backdoor cuts. He was also younger.

I can't definitively say rozier won't be good... But you can say that about any prospect. Rozier in my eyes is lousy. Can't shoot, can't finish, can't distribute, etc.

Didn't Morey just say he wanted a top 10 defense and he is trying to start Harden at the 2 and Melo at the 3?

Liked this article. Treadmill of mediocrity get thrown onto teams that don't really qualify for it. A franchise not going towards a clear direction and proceeding with a clear vision is dumb, but to be a team that teams don't want to face in the playoffs is something that deserves more credit, imo
I think it would be less of an issue if there were more than one team that could credibly make the finals without a miracle in each conference

I wonder if Ainge would trade Fultz for Tatum + a pick today. Seems like the price of Fultz would have gone way up as soon as he donned a green jersey.

JSports_ent does not have a significant national following, but he does have an endorsement from ESPN's Ian Begley. He also tweeted about Robin Lopez's involvement in the trade that landed Derrick Rose with the Knicks last summer, and about Courtney Lee's interest in joining the Knicks. Both of those transactions were completed shortly after JSports_ent's tweets.

On the surface, a trade sending Harkless and Leonard to the Knicks and Anderson to the Blazers appears to work from a league rules perspective. The Blazers would not receive luxury tax relief in the deal; all three players are under contract for three more seasons and Anderson's salary is roughly equal to Harkless' and Leonard's combined. They would, however, clear a roster spot and acquire a player who averaged 13.6 points and 4.6 rebounds on 40.3 percent three-point shooting last season.

In any case, it's all early talks atm

Jaylen is three years younger.

I saw the dumbest potential trade today on YouTube ESPN.

Cavs get Melo

Knicks get Bellineli and Houston 1st

Hawks get Love

Why would we do that? We're trying to load the tank!!!?!

Fuck it, take Love and flip into a FAR better deal from there. Maybe even spend like 20 games at most showing the league that Love might still have his crazy potential if a system is built around him again

Holy fucking shit. The Nets fucked with the Blazers and Heat last year, but they're trying to fucking murder the Wizards.

The trade kicker for Otto Porter would have an impact in 2019-20 when the cap rises to $108M. The bonus + salary cannot exceed the max.

That, btw, would kill the possibility of trading Porter, finding a way to dump Porter, and then getting Boogie to the Wizards.

Also, Kelly O to the Heat

If anybody on this earth can get Olynyk to play to his potential every night instead of once a month.

It's Pat Riley.

He's got the ability to be a 20/10 guy if he would just stop being so damn soft.

And I realized, You know what? Pat was not just talking that smooth talk. This Heat thing is the real deal.

Given what they've done with Dion and James Johnson, I'm intrigued to see what happens with KellyO in Miami
