As @ZachLowe_NBA reports, it's a 15 percent trade kicker. Washington has vowed to match the sheet. Deadline is midnight on July 8.

Let's look at the Nets next target (if KCP is smart he'll wait until this contract gets matched, even if Washington gets spiteful and tries to tie up the Nets' cap for as long as possible (although the better move is to match ASAP so that the Nets can get to fucking with other teams))

With Galloway signing official, the Pistons are hard capped. They can't match any offer ⬆️$16M to KCP. Full analysis

Pistons are either giving up on KCP or have to move salary, quickly.

Heat plan to send McRoberts and a future second round pick to Dallas for A.J. Hammons, league sources tell The Vertical.

Albert Nahmad @AlbertNahmad
AJ Hammons is $1.3M guaranteed. Would mean Ellington, Babbitt, Waiters, Olynk and $10M of room left for Johnson.

Rudy Gay ruins chemistry the dude makes teams worse. I don't care even if it is the Spurs and Pop. I don't get this at all.

It is good they still have LMA

He makes teams worse if he has to be a first or second option, but having him be another scorer that contributes might still be useful. The Spurs didn't have enough shot-creators on their team last year - it was Kawhi, and then the corpses of Manu, Tony, and then Aldridge depending on the game. Simmons when he was let out of the doghouse near the end of the season helped a bunch with that, tbf.

It's a low risk contract.

Gay and LMA are such weird fits on a Popovich team

One of the best things about Pop is that he alters his system effectively depending on the personnel he's given. The Spurs of last year were not and were not meant to be the Spurs of 2014.

In the end, Gay left Sacramento for San Antonio for a chance to be part of a contender. Spurs worked hard to close this over 72 hours.

But it doesn't always work, like with RJ and LMA.

They're coming off of back-to-back 60+ win seasons. I think it's worked fine, even if it needs adjustments.

LMA imo is almost underrated now. He clearly can't deal with the pressure of being the primary focus of the defense, the primary scorer. But as a secondary player/star, his defense is good, when they run plays that help get him going early he can do work, etc. As long as some other player can take over the main attention of the other team, he can do work.

He was on fire in game 1 before Kawhi went down, and to no one's surprise went to shit afterwards.

It's not ideal, but it's not like it's terrible or something.

The Wizards are being so dumb right now. Match ASAP and let the Nets either fuck other teams over or get better and hurt a competitor in the Celtics.

Not really, Leonard, Mills, Parker, Manu and possibly Murray are all good or potentially good Iso scorers. This allows them to get into their offense by isolating against their opponants weakest defender and then finding good shots either against that defender or against the double team it creates.

Gay is going to be a really good fit if his recovery goes to plan.

They're both inefficient volume scorers that don't really have a place in today's game.

I actually like the Olynyk signing as we desperately needed another stretch big.

At the very least, all these team friendly contracts should allow us to clear cap space if we want to go after a big free agent next summer.

Rudy Gay gives the Spurs someone else to chuck the ball but I don't think he's a real game changer seeing he had...problems in Toronto.

The good news for the Spurs is that his contract is pretty cheap for someone that could improve his game for the better if he has the right mentality. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work and he goes elsewhere.

What about Simmons? He did great last year when Leonard went down. Is he going to go back to the spurs?

Simmons is a RFA so the Spurs can match an offer for him and go above the cap. They haven't been willing to do that in the past but maybe will here with Aldridge's big contract likely coming off the books next season
