Right now Kobe seems to be the only FA who thinks he can take any team to the playoffs just by himself

Thats because he's had the luck of being teamed with a dominate center in the first place, so of course he's the only one who wants to see what it feels like to carry a team now :p

Nope, it is because Kobe has more confidence in himself then anyone else in the NBA. He is willing to take that shot and be the goat if he misses, that is why he is a superstar, I don't know if the same can be said of Shaq and T-Mac anymore.

WTF is with these players? Don't any of them have any confidence in themselves? It seems they are all only willing to go to another team if they get a dominat big man, max salary, great coach, etc. If you need to be babied to that level and don't believe in your ability to take a lesser team to the next level (i.e. Duncan, Garnett) then honestly you aren't a superstar. Right now Kobe seems to be the only FA who thinks he can take any team to the playoffs just by himself, then again Kobe also thinks a halfcourt fadeaway is a high percentage shot, but still he at least has the confidence of a superstar. You definitely can't say that about TMac who is looking like he is going to be the next Pippen, unlimited talent but zero heart. At least Stevie has the excuse that he sucks ass, so it isn't that embarassing that he won't go to a shitty team, but there is no excuse for fucking Shaq. Shaq is supposedly the MDE and if he can back that up he should be able to turn any team into a title contender the way Duncan can, just shows he doesn't have it either.
You do realize that with the exception of the Jordan-led Bulls, each NBA Champ for the last 15 years had a good to great center. Big men win championships, unless of course you're MJ. :p

Then what the hell is Shaq's excuse?

If thats your logic then T-Mac has all the confidence in the world!

Well of course now with the rape thing, taking a shot and missing it is the least of his worries :p

.....then again Kobe has been taking those shots since he entered the league so you have to respect his huge ego.

A complete lack of supporting cast. The talent was there, but the injuries combined with Detroit's outstanding D were too much. And Kobe taking shots instead of giving the ball to Shaq. Shaq should have had 50 points a game, the Pistons could do little when he actually got the ball down low.

Come to think of it, Mavs will not trade Dirk since they just got rid of Jamison. They'd have no other big who could score...

MIAMI -- Miami Heat president Pat Riley confirmed Wednesday that he met with Los Angeles Lakers officials about their coaching vacancy, but stressed that no contract offers or demands were made.

The Wizards badly wanted to get rid of Stackhouse. Laetner is pretty much cap-compliant garbage in the trade.

Then again, Jamison did spend most of the year on the bench too.

Not if the Cubs and Cards have anything to say about it. 9-9 in the seventh.

Bust? Nah....

He had a good rookie year and he carried the Pistons for a while. If healthy, he can still be productive...

Shaq can not get 50 a game anymore. His stamina is approaching Yao like levels. Plus when he gets tired he picks up stupid fouls on defense and offense. Kobe definitely forced some bad shots, but a lot of those same shots got the Lakers to where they are (definitely not Shaq) so you can't complain when they don't go in when you have lived on them in the past. I agree that the Laker's injuries really hurt them, but Shaq had zero presence on the defensive end too and he didn't box out Ben Wallace when he got tired (again he was Yao like). The OLD Shaq would have destroyed Ben Wallace and scored 70 if they double teamed him, I don't know when people are going to wake and see this isn't the old Shaq anymore. His lack of desire and poor physical conditioning have led to him only being useful for 30 minute a game max, and since the Lakers have no backup he couldn't be as effective as he could be.

I cannot believe you're now seemingly placing most of the blame on Shaq... Shaq didn't do this, Shaq didn't do that.... what didn't Kobe do? He didn't pass the f'n ball. Both of them contributed and didn't contribute dammit.

Actually I think Kobe lost them then the Finals. They had almost no chance to win without Malone and Shaq gave the Lakers pretty much what he gave them the entire year, nothing. Shaq was inconsitent in every series in every aspect throughout the playoffs and was too retarded to stay out of foul trouble, so the Lakers are used to him being inconsistent, they weren't used to Malone being injured or Kobe stinking the joing up. So Kobe gets the praise in getting them there but imho he also gets the blame because he couldn't get past Detroit.

Yeah....no one seems to mention that Shaq only played well for two games in that Detroit series. Was he dominant in those? Yeah, but unless he gets 3 days off, he's not the Shaquille of old. Also, a major reason why Detroit scored so easily against the Lakers was that Shaq was not playing the same defense that he was in the Minnesota and (especially) SA rounds. He was also TORCHED by a 6'9" Ben Wallace on the boards, and this is after he outrebounded Duncan and Garnett (two superior rebounders to Wallace) in the previous two rounds. Even in the two dominant games he had, he faded badly down the stretch, and was far better in the first than the second half. And all of this was without any serious double teams.

The thing is that the Lakers are better off with a Shaq who is focused on defense and manning the paint at this point, not one who tries to put up his old numbers, as he was in the SA series. It's sorta like Wilt in the 70s...at some point (really when you stop drawing double teams) you drag the offense down. Kobe had a bad series, but just the fact that the Pistons were A LOT more worried about Kobe getting off than Shaq should tell you something....he's just not the same Shaq as he used to be. Either way, without a critical Malone and with a totally decomposing supporting cast, the Lakers would have lost no matter what. The series probably would have gone 6 if Kobe didn't botch that 36/20 game by Shaq, though.

"Jim Gray just said that he spoke to Jeff Fried, and "Francis is no longer an impediment to this trade".

He also said TMac has made it VERY clear Houston is where he wants to be; his sources say the deal WILL get done, but it may be 2-4 days."

It will happen! I believe I can fly! I believe I can kiss the sky! I think about it every night and day!

I was liking Jamison at Dallas. Cuban should of gotten rid of Walker.

It's not like he isn't trying. He has said in interviews that he wanted to get rid of Walker, and he left him in the expansion draft.

I want to see Walker in a deal for Shaq. Just to see Kobe kick him in the face after Walker tosses up a dozen three point attempts in a game for the first time.

Well the 2 players were to fit the cap.. as for the pick... dont know what the Wizards were thinking... with this trade I think this is the end of the Michael Finley era in Dallas... for sure

Heh ESPN Outside the lines just had a good little segment on the Orlando Magic ever since Shaq left.

It outlined how Shaq walked away from the Magic because in part the management was slow to react (giving the Lakers a chance to sign him away), the various "bad" draft picks that didn't work out, having to trade Anfernee Hardaway in part because of the two huge contracts they gave T-mac and Grant Hill.

There was a funny quote from a writer from the orlando sentinel that went something like :

"If Shaq was our Babe Ruth, then Grant Hill would be our Bill Buckner"
