Okay, back to the NCAA talk.

Doesn't matter. You've earned it with your terrible pick. Now wear it with prideCubsfan23 said:Don't see Illinois anywhere![]()
Hollywood said:Illinois played a good game, but I mean when we're missing easy layups and 3's we've been hitting all year and Roger Powell of all people has a career game ... things aren't going your way. Can't do much about that. But unlike Illinois, we're going to be title contenders the next 5 years while Illinois won't be be in another 30 years, so I like our chances especially if Garcia stays as rumored. Plus you know, we have a BCS football team to look forward to unlike the other top basketball teams, so have fun while its lasts because it sure as hell will be a long time before Illinois is this good again.
suaveric said:There sure are some sore losers in this thread. The Illini must be pretty lucky, because every great team/player they've played against so far has had "off nights".

Hollywood said:No I give Illinois credit, but you can't say UL didn't miss like 5 easy layups that should have been hit. Illinois is a better team than UL, and has the most talent this year .. but all I'm saying is how many more years will they have this? Illinois has made what, 1 final four in the past 40 years? Enjoy your title opportunity now while your still good because next year its going to be a hoot wit hthe offense being run around Augustine.
We'll see everyone else in Indy next year BTW - especially if Garcia comes back combined with a completely healthy Dean, HS All-Americans Brian Johnson and David Padgett coming in from sitting last year out, and a top 5 recruiting class coming in. Thenb again we actually have a football season to look forward too.

You know what else is?
Illinois 3-8 (1-7 Big ten)
Sal Paradise Jr said:Wow, you're a sore loser. You sound exactly like the Cardinals did yesterday. I'm happy they lost. Assholes can't serve up credit where credits due. Williams shut down Garcia. The only points he got were off of cheap baskets.
And Garcia isn't coming back.
This is exactly what I mean when I say Illini get no respect. Every fucking week they knock off a team, and it's "oh man they choked hard' or "oh man, i guess they just wanted it more, we played our worst ever". Team after team, just looking shell-shocked after games, not knowing why they lost. If Garcia made some shots they might've won, but then if Illini shot 80% from the 3-point line we would've won by 40. What the fuck is the point of playing the "if" game?
And stop bringing up football, it makes you look desperate. :lol
Hollywood said:Credit for what? Missed layups? Right. Good open layup defgense there, let me tell ya.
I get sick of fans who have one decent year every 40 years and suddenly act like they are the shit. Seriously, I was going to go for Illinois but people like you make it difficult to root for a team. At least UNC fans act like THEY'VE BEEN THERE BEFORE. Not suddenly act like they're God's gift to basketball after making the Final Four for the 2nd time in a good 40 years. At least if UNC wins it all, its part of the hoops elite program ring, and I won't have to hear from 'newbie' fans that their team is the greatest of all time.
So go Tar Heels, let the Illini lose and their hapless fans go back to rooting for the shitty Bears and Cubs/White Sox for another year.
Sal Paradise Jr said:That's another thing, tomorrow is going to HUGE for the program. You talk about "Elite" programs, and Illinois is certainly not in that group. But we are a perennial 20-win/NCAA tournament team that's been on the edge of that elite tag forever.
If we beat UNC tomorrow, and it's as good a game as advertised, the Illini are going to be joining that company. Do not underestimate the impact that this year will have on recruiting and future classes.
Cubsfan23 said:I heard Augustine say that Illinois was the best TEAM, and that carolina was just a bunch of guys with talent; now Felton is pissed.![]()
Sal Paradise Jr said:Is the quote you're talking about?
"Added junior forward James Augustine: "They're obviously more talented. They have four, five, six pro prospects. They have a lottery pick coming off the bench [Marvin Williams]. But when it comes down to the situation, it's who's the better team. Whoever plays the better basketball is going to win.''
OH YEAH, real shit-talking fest we have here.
