Yep, all throughout the review they mention how the game has certain mechanics to avoid tedium. To expand a little bit more on that point:
this is what worries me about open world type games so this is very good to hear

Doesn't that seem, lacking? In contrast, Burnout Paradise:
120 Billboards (+45 in Big Surf Island), 50 Super Jumps (+15 Mega Jumps), 400 Smash Gates (+75)
While that's definitely true, but in my head the security gates is basically a marker for shortcuts/hiding places. That low number has me somewhat wondering what kind of "cooldown" or shortcuts we're looking at for this game.I don't really know how Burnout Paradise handled it, but my guess is that since billboards/radars track jump distance/speed and display the record among your friends list they'll have a certain replayability to them that other collectibles may not have. In the end we can only wait to see what's the collectible/drivable surface ratio and hope the city has enough places to explore.
This is from another race intro
All I want to know is whether you can apply decals and vinyls to your car(s). Thanks!
Hm, thanks! Probably scratching this off my list, customization is a mandatory feature for me in these arcade racers. Thanks for the info, bro!You can only change colors when it comes to the outside appearance of your cars.

No problem. I'm going off of the points from the spanish review posted above.
Funnily enough, it's the opposite for me. Visual customization is a must for sim-ish racers, while I don't care what kind of customization is in arcade-style racers as long as they're fun.
So I'm getting Burnout Paradise vibes from it. Am I right or wrong? If yes, I'm actually thinking about buying it! Loved Burnout Paradise!
The title of the thread should give you the answer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ofr4jK9QFmo - Nice detail in the burnouts.
Excessive drifting = tire pop? Oh my.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ofr4jK9QFmo - Nice detail in the burnouts.
Yeah that's a soundtrack song.Nice indeed.
Is that song in the background part of the soundtrack?

The guy opened the box while I was looking for Skylanders for my daughter. He cut through the 'do not sell before' sticker but apparently didn't bother to read it. I asked for a copy and he rang it through with no problem.
Clicking the right stick when the car is stopped turns the ignition off. This especially helpful when you're trying to lose heat in a cooldown, as it makes the heat meter drop like a rock.Odd question, but does anyone know if its possible to turn the cars ignition on and off, or the lights on and off? It doesn't really matter, but I've heard the cars starting up in some of the videos, not to mention, seen some cars turning off their lights when hiding from the cops. I don't know if this is automated, or something you can do on your own.
Either I'm a fantastic last stage driver or the rubber banding in this game is a bit insulting. There's parts in each race where the AI just calls it a race. In a couple they all steer into a wall at the same point.
Haven't played a racing game since Paradise. I'll be on PS3 w/ same username if anyone will be playing.
The only gameplay options are units, subtitles, and controller. What difficulty level?
(If you even can choose difficulty levels).
I'll list some of the points they make:
- Spiritual successor to BP
- Good controls. Easy to grasp.
- Handling differences between cars
- Not very punishing in regards to crashes. It has to be a really big hit to be considered a crash.
- Different jack spots for any given car
- 5 events/car. 61 events in total. 41 cars.
- 3 levels of difficulty. 4 types of events. This seems to be a negative point of single player, there's more variety in MP
- Circuit event. Sprint event (A to B). Speed event (maintain highest speed). Evasion event (escape from the cops in the least amount of time)
- Gold, silver and bronze rewards
- First race for a car unlocks nitrous and 4x4 tires
- Challenges for each car also unlock mods
- If you want to re-do an event you will be able to select it through a menu, no need to drive
- No visual customisation. Only colours.
- Cops are marked on the map, and will engage in pursuit when an infraction is committed (bumping into them, going and high speed near them, etc.). They are lenient though.
- Pursuits that have begun in a race will continue when it's over
- 6 levels of heat
- Highest level of heat mean the cops will use better equipment and tactics. To evade them one must use hidden paths and shortcuts
- Fairhaven feels like a real city, and yet the streets feel perfect for the different events.
- Clear and well designed map. They say it's rare to lose a race due to a wrong turn.
- Night and day cycle.
- The city has different parts: highways, parks, factories and "surprises". They'd have liked if the different parts were more distinct
- 156 billboards. 66 radars. 135 security gates
- Billboards save the distance jumped. Radars the highest speed.
- To take down the Most Wanted one must accrue Speed Points.
- Most wanted races: 1 vs. 1 with police involved. Finish first to win, take down the driver afterwards to take his car.
- They estimate 100% completion in 15 to 20 hours.
- Multiplayer has team races, challenges (meters drifted, near-misses with rivals, etc.)
- With friends the city is open, like the single player. The host chooses a series of events and the racers must drive to the meet point. This is not the case with randoms.
- Cars are divided into categories, and each event limits the category of cars that can be used.
- Open-world aspect, sense of speed, crash physics better than Forza Horizon. But not as pretty.
- Some low res textures, empty spaces, aliasing, fps drops when there's a lot going on on screen. This doesn't impact gameplay at all.
- As positives: No popping, water reflections, dirt on cars, dust and dirt on screen
- Good engine sounds and OST. You can choose to listen to tracks saved on console or PC
- One of the best arcade racing games, must-have for fans of the genre, with hours of fun.
- Version reviewed: X360
The only gameplay options are units, subtitles, and controller.
15-20 hours for 100%? That may have shifted it to a rental for me.

Does MW have a car club equivalent like Forza Horizon? Best part is not having to add everyone from GAF and still getting all the activity because of the GAF car club.
I think the fact that it is open world will make that number be a lot higher for most people, due to roaming around, running from cops, ect.
Why all these racing games gotta leave out weather effects?

I feel like I'm missing something... Why are the cars flying?
I still can't believe how well Burnout Paradise was supported post-launch. I've never seen a game like it. And so much free stuff, too. Added in motorcycles, day night cycle and other stuff like a year after it came out for free haha.
I assume Hot Pursuit was not like this?

Looks like I'm getting a free Xbox 360 copy from my network
Machinima
The flying cars thing looks really retarded ...
oh also does anyone know if the game is region locked on PC? seems to be cheaper in other regions and Origin games tend to be region free iirc
