It's so freaking cute!!!

And yeah, Miku is taking over. Most of my Nendos are of her. I was never much of a fan of the character when she came out, and then I started discovering these different outfits and hairstyles she has in Nendo/Figma-form... I love them :x Too bad I didn't start collecting earlier, as I'm behind a bunch. One day I'll invest in Amiami pre-owned.

Do I pre-order CNY Miku now or should I wait for WonderFes with Saber et all? I want to combine the shipping.

Unless they are from different store (ie. WL4U and GSC) then there's no point since GSC store doesn't allow combine shipping for the two different shops.

Are Phat Company generally considered a better company than Kotobukiya? I've only heard of them and Algernon.

Probably a bit higher end, yes. But holy shit they delay shit all the time, repeatedly. One of my favorite figures from them finally came out after about six months of delays. Kotobukiya on the other hand almost never delays anything. Koto is still good quality. I've never had an issue with them.

They're a little different.

Phat has some truly great figures and some really questionable ones. Koto has improved a lot in the last year or so and seem to be going up and up. Phat sometimes comes out with a figure that completely wows you, though, so Phat's a little inconsistent. And they delay all. the. time.

They're both mid-upper tier, though. Lower than Max Factory, GSC, and Alter, but higher than WAVE, Ques Q, and those types.

Both have good quality control, no worries there.

Otaku Mode has both Sora and Shiro for $46 each.

$92 - $9.20 TOM points - $9.20 BONUS TOM points - $9.20 w/ coupon code EmiChanTOM + $0.00 shipping - $6.62 cash back from Befrugal

= $57.78 shipped for both from TOM.
of course a lot of this is in points, but still $82.80 without counting points or cash back

Meanwhile they're $103.95 shipped from GSC.

shill shill shill shill

How does it work what with the points and all that? Is it similar to the way you earn points on Ami and HS?

Yeah. You get points which are dollars which can be applied to future orders.

Right now you get 10% of your purchase in points if you order two items. And some items get 10% extra for the first 2-4 weeks they're up for preorder.

Prices are generally 10-20% higher, but there are constant 10-15% off coupons, and shipping is free on any order over $100 (or $80 if there's a promotion).

Okay. Now Where are they located? Do they charge for your pre-order immediately? I was looking at Max Factory's Lal'c figure from Gunbuster, and they say she's expected in February. But she comes out in November, barring any delays. WAT

They charge immediately. Located in Japan but have warehouses in the US.

Their shipments are a bit weird. Some figures you get 2-3 weeks after they release, some figures will be when they say they will be on the website.

I got a figure that said I wouldn't get until August in June, but they haven't shipped my Elin yet (they say August but she was released in late June).

Sooo....I pay 10-20% more and get my stuff late anyway? Uhhhh.....

I liked TOM when I ordered from them...
This all sounds really nice but moving to a new shop that charges lower prices up front and away from the safe and comfortable rigidity of AmiAmi is intimidating.

I've been buying less these days just based on the increased prices and terrible exchange rate. Though I've still been sticking with Hobbysearch and HLJ.

ya bruh dats wut happens :^)

Let's look at your Lal'C.

AmiAmi: 100.43 + ~$25 shipping - 1.20 points = ~$124
TOM: $128 - $19.20 (15% coupon PAYPAL1607) - $12.80 in points (order two figures) = $96

And that's without any bonus point offers or external cashback sites.

Was in wrong in thinking I read Sora and Shiro would be released in the US through normal channels, like Amazon?

Maybe but probably not. I know some Nendos have filtered into Barnes & Noble (Kirby, Mega Man, Batman, Joker, Link) but I don't know if NGNL is popular enough for that.

Looking at my amiami orders and considering the dive the GBP is taking doesn't make me very thrilled. Still not gonna stop me ordering more nendos!

Finally found a place that sells Nendoroids in Korea! It's been surprisingly harder than I thought, because, beyond really small collectibles (restaurants always seemed to be lined with them in-particular), they don't really seem to go for that stuff.

I guess, their huge disregard for copyright infringement plays a part too, because there are countless imitations of Bearbricks, nanoblocks, and the like.

But fuck, are they expensive...
