Actually, there has been a large migration of people coming here that are fed up with REEEE. I checked the Welcome thread a couple days ago and saw someone in there who stated that they had just come from Reset. I imagine some mods will want to come back as well, too. I cannot imagine how spending nearly 3-years on that site hasn't driven some former members into further insanity. I can't even read the posts in the Reset Discussion thread on GAF without feeling emotionally sick. It's funny reading the first few mod posts from Reset and then it borders on something psychotic and disturbing. It shouldn't take getting banned from Reset to leave; just leave it. In fact, I hope they're reading our posts like this one so they know...there's still hope for escape.

If they violate the TOS or pull any shady shit then that's pretty clear cut. A lot of ambiguity arises, however, when it's a "straw that broke the camel's back" kind of deal, especially when it comes to political "hot takes". Like I've said before, trolling, in a sense, is a bit in the eye of the beholder. Take this hypothetical example - if all the "hot takes"' that are dropping in a thread are of the conservative persuasion, then that literally becomes the conversation, and the lone liberal "hot take" then looks a lot like an extreme outlier and "not contributing to the conversation". Over the course of time, however, the signal can be extracted from the noise to see how much of a quality poster the user in question actually is. That being said, when an otherwise "normal" person is being berated for his political opinions by multiple people, it can cause anxiety and mental lapses that cause bad posts. Over the course of time, this also builds up and can result in bannable offenses. Like I always say, the best course of action is to "deal with it". Not everyone can always do that though. As I've discussed before, his happened from time to time to conservatives on old Gaf.
However, the moderation is a lot more transparent now and thus those two situations aren't perfectly comparable. At the end of the day, you're right - an echo chamber is not desirable. The emergent behavior of group think is complicated and you can't necessarily regulate it out of existence. It's always present, drifting in the ebb and flow of the current political demographics of any community.

Can we please not have this kind of stuff policed hardcore? One thing I really like here is that people are able to ignore stuff that annoys them. I have deleted a quarter of my already written-out posts before I sent them thinking 'why am I getting angry at this dumbo when it's obvious that he is just that'. If nobody is complaining/reporting and the mods don't see the post or take umbridge with it - is it worth a ban?EviLore out of curiosity if we're banning people for 9TF posts to spare the feelings of PS users, should we not take a similar line to 'nintendo is just for kiddies', 'my switch is gathering dust', etc stuff? Kind of surprised, he seemed to always skirt along that thin line between what should be ban worthy and only worth a warning, It was like he had impulses that he couldn’t control.
But after getting warned so many times, you are bound to receive the permaban eventually.

This guy seemed to have had countless warnings, bans, an entire meltdown thread, etc., and just kept on going. Hands were extended at every opportunity and slapped away.
At what point are the people that run the site, obligated to put up with someone that defies their simple request for decent, sociable behavior, over and over and over again?

Although my first temptation was to come in here and say, 'Gaming trolls keep dat same energy', no. I hope he does well for himself. Gaf, though, has rules for a reason. It's not too much to ask to show the tiniest bit of decorum or respect for them.

Yeah, GamerNyc was one the most obnoxious Sony warriors on GAF, with a LONG history of bans and warnings. The reality is, it's shocking he managed to last as long as he did.
That Nola guy, I never caught his Politics trolling. The state of the world and politics is too depressing these days so I've buried my head in the sand and no longer read or participate in that forum. I did see him on the Gaming side though and I couldn't tell ya who he was a fanboy of. It seemed like he spread hot takes and negativity to all platforms and I never saw him contribute anything positive or worthwhile to any discussion. It seems like his only reason to be here was to troll

Obviously I haven't been here long, but I just want to say that there hasn't been a single decision made with the except of banning a Spam Bot that didn't have multiple eyes on it. Decisions are not made in haste.
Often times I see reports of trolling or console warring, and the comment that is report most definitely is that... in a vacuum. But then going to the thread and looking at it you see they are in a "mosh pit", often times not throwing first punch. And then taking into account that the OP isn't always genuine. The OP often sets the tone for the thread. That is why I will post and nicely say "Lets stay on topic, take the warring to PMs". And now I've been made aware of a thread dedicated to it : )
But you don't have to worry whether I myself am too conservative or heavy handed, because I don't make decisions alone. Except again in regards to Spam Bots.
