Soooooo Im guessing MHK was banned for his vaccine conspiracy threads? Because he sure was posting a lot of them lately lol

If the game pleases me then yes. I always thought of changing it to "Halo is not quite dead yet" lol but open to suggestions. Putting the MCC on PC has renewed my hope a little.

Halo is not quite dead yet doesn't have the same ring to it, indeed, lmao. With the way Cyberpunk went and MS's pockets and new talent I think it's a safe bet that you'll be something more akin to "Halo is back", it'd take an awful serious of embeciles for them to fuck this up with what is at stake so I'd expect the best halo since CE, maybe better.

You're right though, Halo has been dead as a door nail since before the X1 launched. i had no faith until I seen these publishers all cower at what happened to CDPR last month.

The VertigoOA one makes me laugh the most - make a proud proclamation / account suicide about the new rules, then try to slink back in under a new account anyway since you don't actually care about them, you just want to look like you do, best virtue signal 2021

Downside of that is that it could potentially derail the topic and bring the mod into the conversation.

It's on the ban page. He lost his cool and went off on someone over something. I think this whole Covid thing is sending people over the edge.

I find it disgusting that a few people seem to be reveling in this crisis and using it to insinuate GAF is a hive of White Nationalists and thinking it now gives them ability to freely call people Nazis with impunity.

I don't know who the members that are being referenced are, or if the are White Nationalisits, Nazis or alt-right, but I do foresee these accusations expanding to anyone certain posters disagree with being painted with the same brush.

He was banned from Politics for posting sensationalized fringe conspiracy theory threads, then fully banned for bringing that to Off-Topic and going into extreme personal attacks against other users. He was clearly having an episode so the punishment wasn't as severe as it would've been, as MHK is a friend of the forum.

MHK sent a goodbye email afterwards. He recognizes that forums aren't a healthy outlet for him and will be moving on.

I am genuinely sad to see some familiar faces go, but if it's what's best for them and/or the forum I guess it's just how it is. I do feel like the de-escalation of the politics section is warranted and very much needed though. It's been a rather heated few months. I think most people want a return to normalcy and the usual boring politics.

I've only been on this forum a little more than 2 years, but I remember MHK as a frequent game forum user. Then it shifted to OT and Politics. Then he barely even posted in Games.

For anyone on the fringe of being easily irritated, stick to Games. At worst you get fan warrior posts.

Communities and OT is mostly chill, but some key threads like Reee or Ban can perk up emotions. And depending on the other topics, can pit people against each other as they are heavily opinionated random topics.

Avoid Politics. As it says, it'll be red vs blue, bad politicians, innocents getting caught in the crossfire etc....

The Overton window favors your views, and those views are supported by this site. I make no judgement on that, it's just true. We're going to see a lot more bans over the next months because the views previously within the Overton window are now not. I think you'll find the "boring" politics to be a more subdued echo chamber eventually.

I've really enjoyed exchanges I've had with you. They've been both frustrating and encouraging. That said, I don't think there will be very many in the future. I'm going to stay away from the Politics board. Cheers to you Nobody_Important Nobody_Important , I do like you.

If you feel the need to leave then I won't stop you, but I feel like I should ask why? I have never seen you support any fringe conspiracy stuff and I've never seen you go ballistic on someone. It's not like you would be at risk of a ban. You would absolutely still be a welcome voice in the section. I'd be sad to see you go.

I think your comment on the overton window makes a lot of sense, but the one above I do not agree with.
In my time I've seen multiple posters label NeoGAF as a right-wing echo chamber. Typically these have been fresher faces to the community and have tended to lean in the other direction.
I've objected to this notion and referenced older Political Compass threads as substance to my objections.
And I make the same objection here for the same reasons.

Plus I would think that NeoGAF, given its history, is particularly sensitive to whether it starts to become an echo-chamber or not.

Most likely. He is pretty active and it takes some discipline to leave for good. -Arcadia- will go days without posting and I think MHK could do the same.

But if he really means it, then I can respect his decision to move on and wish him the best in life. I would have liked to have seen more of his game reviews, since he did a good job with them before, and more recently he said he had one to share before he got himself banned.

Reading his entire post, I don’t think he was really getting at the behavior being acceptable. He goes on to criticize angry mobs and the killing of the officer. He just saying we shouldn’t allow any angry mobs to get away with this behavior. Personally, I found the response a bit harsh.

Hope MHK returns, if for nothing else than to buy and rapidly sell another laptop/PC, keeping us updated as he goes.
