And it was necessary, with due respect to those who were banned and were pretty cool posters outside of the politics forum. That place was turning into an unhealthy echo chamber.

It was also tarnishing neogaf's reputation to outsiders. Considering Evilore's expressed direction of wanting this place to be first and foremost an enjoyable gaming forum, it was out of place to have a very loud niche conspiracy community to stand out so much and dictate so strongly the tone of that forum.

I believe it was the PERCEIVED "right wing echo chamber" that had some actual EXPLICIT racists so comfortable to join and post in there. When you had some posters out and out say stuff like "black people can go back to Africa" or peddling white genocide narratives.

I liked Crypto and even Texas Pride... I hate they were banned.

I simply follow the rules of the board. If management says ‘no more of this.....’ then I will abide by those rules. None of us here can really have an effect on politics, we can comment and cheer our respective teams on and whatnot, but in the current climate, I understand why what was done had to happen. This place can go south real quick and none of us want that. If the politics board gets cut to save the games side, I have no problem with it at all.

But Gaming side is worse, though.

I’d have to go back in my posts but I did say earlier in the thread I get why the new rules are in place, to avoid deplatforming. I just felt that a lot of those posters supported this site at its darkest time. It sure wasnt reee defending GAF as they posted porn on the way out.

it’s not just about members being prominent, it’s that they were loyal. To this site and to Evilore personally, I get that things change I just think people deserve another chance. I guess it’s too late for that, but I always had your back Evilore going back years.

I am not radicalized, different political opinions are just that - different. I do think though I need a break from GAF though to clear my head from the last few months of drama. Also a solid break of old and new.

I haven't ventured into the Covid conspiracy threads here, but there is some reason to keep one eye open with regards to conspiracies in these areas.
Various governments have developed what are called "race specific bioweapons", which are virus and bacteria that target specific genes found in certain races.
The US government did do things such as eugenics and other horrific stuff such as Tuskegee on Black men. The CIA released toxins into the subway systems to see how it would effect and kill people.
They experimented on GI's including murdering them.
And let's not forget how the UN got caught giving black people in Africa tainted vaccines that sterilised women.

So I think its wise to not trust everything your government does or says.

Like I mentioned earlier, I think it will have the opposite affect on a number of banned members. If they already felt like their views on life/politics were being suppressed everywhere else, then suppressing it in one of the only places they felt like home and were allowed to discuss it will probably reinforce their views further that the world wants to silence them and information. They'll likely join crowds and forums who allow for more extreme views/conspiracies or what have you, which will decrease their exposure to opposing viewpoints and information.

I see why people think it should be easy in theory for the banned members to come around to sensibility so to speak, but I think for some of them, it's a bit like trying to tell a religious person to stop being religious, especially after they're sure they've just seen God's existence.
