Is the basketball league going to be a $$ league? I would be interested if it isn't. Or if it's like $10. I don't pay that much attention to basketball but I do love me some fantasy.

Big Ben vs Browns
Palmer vs GB

Right now I have Palmer in my starting spot. The Browns have actually been good against the pass and I think the Steelers will be up early and just run most of the game. The Packers are very poor against the pass and I figure the Raiders will need to pass a lot to catch up.

Actually, now that I think of that, it wouldn't work, simply because shooting percentages are such a big part of the game.

I'm in two fantasy hockey leagues. One gives you a point for winning each category, while the other assigns a value to each stat (two points for a goal or an assist, three points for a short-handed goal, half a point for a shot on goal, etc) and adds those all up into a single total at the end. I like the second one a lot better. But that kind of thing probably wouldn't work in basketball.

Anyway, I'd like to play fantasy hoops if there are spots. PM me an invite.

I would start Big Ben over Palmer easily so long as it looks like most of Oakland's receiving corps is taking the week off.

No Moore, no Ford, no Run DMC, banged up Schilens, no Jones.

You've got hit-or-miss DHB, Murphy, Schilens who may not play the entire game, Reece, Bush, practically non-existent Boss and Housh to throw to. That's about it.

Yeah just saw that. I just don't think the steelers will throw much. It's the #1 ranked passing defence. Anyone else have any thoughts?

In retrospect, maybe starting Big Ben wasn't such a good idea. Way to get injured!

It's going to be tough going the rest of the way. I benched Wallace in my Economy League matchup; left Antonio Brown in as Cleveland is only middle of the road when it comes to giving up return yards.

It's all good. I didn't follow your advice :)

Four players down in the first half... Big Ben, Cribbs, Watson and Pouncey.
Who will fall to injury next? Stay tuned.

SUPER BEN LIVES!

Great start to my Economy League matchup tonight in a week where I need to win big over Knights of Mars and get some help from The Machine.

25.15 points from Antonio Brown! Whoot!

Browns = ASS
Brown = ASS-TOUNDING

3 months ago to this day I foretold the following as it pertains to the NeoGAF Economy League.

People return long yardage TDs on a regular basis. What makes you think tonight is an anomaly?

Shame hope32 didn't start Randall Cobb and left that 22.5 points sitting on his bench.

In other news, I just dumped the Walking Concussion Austin Collie for Pittsburgh's Antonio Brown.

Did you know that not only is Brown an up-and-coming receiver but he also owns both punt and kickoff return duties for the Steelers this year? Starting next week, he will have a regular spot in my starting lineup and I expect he will earn more fantasy points than Mike Wallace over the duration of the season. Yay!
Antonio Brown is currently 3rd in total fantasy points for wide receivers on the season behind only Wes Welker and Calvin Johnson in that scoring format. ;)

Well Ingram is ruled out for Sunday now. So it's between these players for my flex.

Bradshaw vs Cowboys
P. Thomas vs Titans
Robinson vs Giants

Are you serious bro?! Lol

Yeah, 25.15 from A. Brown isn't bad at all! Good luck the rest of the weekend! Or terrible luck, whatever! : )

Bradshaw vs Cowboys
P. Thomas vs Titans
Robinson vs Giants
To me, Robinson seems like a safer play considering the state of the Giants secondary. Bradshaw looked healthy last week, although he only ran for 38 yards. I expect his role to continue to grow, but Jacobs has the better shot to score. Bradshaw is no better than a low RB2.

I'm not sure how many carries Thomas will get with Ingram out. Ivory should get some touches but I remember Thomas scored at least 10 points both weeks Ingram was out. Robinsons shoulder injury does worry me a bit.

So, which 3 should I start? (No Forte so I am using a WR as Flex)

Pierre Garcon - Facing Ravens but Orlosky seems to like him
Vincent Brown - Not starting anymore but that game should be a shootout. Plus I have Rivers so it's double points if they connect for a TD
Brad Smith - He's been good the last few weeks
David Nelson - Chargers D is bad and maybe pairing him with Smith would be good insurance
Brandon Lafell - He's starting too and Cam seems to like him
Devin Aromashodu - Was great last week but I don't think I can trust him vs. Detroit in a playoff game
Demaryius Thomas - Same as above and he's playing the Bears lol

PS: I am already down 14 cos the Steelers D was good. I am willing to gamble

You really think TeBrow is gonna throw bombs on the Bears D? Then again, maybe they'll bat an off-target pass right to WR in the endzone lol

As you're down in projections, you need to be focused on starting guys that offer you the most upside.

Clearly that rules out LaFell.

Garcon (while clearly the best upside threat on your roster) is facing the Ravens D. While Baltimore has had "let downs" against bad teams this year those were bad teams with respectable defenses in Seattle and Jacksonville. The Ravens defense still stepped up so you can't really start him.

And I don't think I could trust Brown now that VJax and Floyd are both healthy.

That leaves Aromashodu, Thomas, Nelson and Smith. I would only start one Buffalo Bill (if any)... hedging your bets is a defensive play and not a move to make when you're down against a better fantasy team. Smith has been the more consistent play since entering the starting lineup so I would ride him.

One final name to consider... Riley Cooper if Maclin is ruled out today. It's a complete wild card shot in the dark given that he's done all of his damage with Vince Young throwing him the ball but I can't see Vick completely ignoring him and just throwing to Avant and unreliable DJax, either. I would probably roll with Cooper over Thomas given that the Chicago D is formidable and Thomas will either give you 0 or 25 on any given week. The Minny secondary is awful... the Bears are the complete opposite of that.

So my final recommendations:
- Devin Aromashodu
- Brad Smith
- Riley Cooper (if Maclin is out); otherwise, take your pick between Pierre Garcon or Demaryius Thomas

I just saw that Chandler is out for the Bills. I feel a hedge with Nelson and Smith is the safest play here cos that Chargers secondary is pretty terrible. If I hadn't dropped Floyd I'd have started him. Ugh, what a dumb move..

That's a gutsy call leaning on both Bills with Chandler out; he was really only used at the goal line - I think the primary beneficiary is Spiller. That being said I hope your optimism means good things for Fitzpatrick in fantasy.

One last thing I'll throw out there is to not put much of any stock in Yahoo!'s projections this week.

They haven't been updating them since Thursday despite a lot of situational changes from practice reports over the past few days. For example, in my matchup against PrimeTime both Starks and Ingram are still projected to score points despite being ruled out for the week.

I NEVER put any stock in projections. That's why i always call games early lol

I like Nelson as a redzone target with Smith as the deep threat in a high-scoring game. I am also gonna make another do or die move in a second here :p

You guys think Brandon Saine is a good play this week? I picked him up with the news that Starks went down. Basically I have to go with 2 of Saine, Toby Gerhart, Beanie Wells and Ahmad Bradshaw, any recommendations?

Umm I'd take the latter 2
I'll counter that and recommend Gerhart and Beanie. Still not trusting anyone in the Giants run game and I say that as someone that owns both Bradshaw and Saine (while not owning the other 2 guys) in assorted leagues. You can run all day on Detroit especially with Suh suspended and Fairley beat up. I would only have pause if Webb starts over Ponder and the Lions elect to stack the box.

Is this the place to go for fantasy football help?

I'll guess it is.

Need to pick one - Ahmad Bradshaw or Maurice Morris, non-PPR league.

Would normally go with Bradshaw but Jacobs is actually healthy this week and Bradshaw is dinged up himself, while Morris has had a nice couple weeks in a row now and will get plenty more touches with Kevin Smith being out.

The QB situation with the Vikings makes me nervous that their offense is going to be a complete trainwreck. Also, is Peterson definitely out?

I just read that Podner's starting. Looks like Devin A. might be my 3rd WR after all. I picked up Cooper but that Miami D has been good lately and I really want to start both Bills with no Chandler. Aaaargh!

Maclin is active so Cooper shouldn't get the same targets

Good luck whatever you choose! I don't want to face dinner out if I win!

Where did you hear that?
Rotoworld. Cooper can be safely ignored.
Starks is out. ADP is out.
Yahoo! has updated their projections. Finally.

Aromashodu had 15 targets last week. Wow.

I would still ride MauMo here - even in non-PPR. The Cowboys D has been strong against the run against teams actually built to run the ball well. Which the Giants certainly haven't been most of the year.
If there was any week to say start all your Lions ... this is the one. Hell, if you're really strapped for receivers in a league feel free to take a flyer on Titus Young.

BTW, I thought of something for next year that could make the league better since we have so many players. I dunno if Yahoo allows this but a TE eligible flex spot could be interesting
If that was an option this week, I'd have picked up Pettigrew and he would be in my starting lineup ahead of Saine.

Yeah with Jenkins going down, he looks like a good starts. I'm concerned about how effective Ponder will be and/or his rapport with Webb.

Okay I'm going with the Bills combo. Devin A. or Garcon for the 3rd slot? Garcon might get more big plays in garbage time but that Lions pass D is putrid..

Ponder vs Detroit, Freeman vs Jags or Dalton vs Texans?

I Need to start three in PPR out of: Michael Bush vs GB, Helu vs NE, DJax vs Miami, and Mcgahee vs Chicago.

Just to throw something out there to show how one can approach fantasy games differently.

In No Quitters 3, I elected to ride with Fitz at QB ahead of steady eddy Matt Moore and elected to NOT pick up Grossman against the putrid Patriots. Why? Because I think Grossman's downside is LOWER than Fitz's this week... especially without Trent Williams and popular target Fred Davis available. I'm protecting a lead in NQ3 and just don't want my QB spot to hurt me while leaning on Rice & Gronk as my movers and the Seattle D/ST batting cleanup. I did however berate Azwethinkweiz for leaving him out there for Rinker to snap up in their matchup.

Meanwhile over in the Economy League where LOTS of QBs are on the wire including Moore, I elected to pick up Grossman and will start him ahead of Vick this week. I believe Sexy Rexy's upside is HIGHER than Vick's in that format - especially with Vick tentative off an injury and facing a much-improved Miami defense on the road with a wounded Maclin and doghouse-bound DJax. Plus, my situation is different - I need to outscore my opponent by 16 points and effectively go for broke to even make the playoffs. So gambling with the matchups this week is far more crucial for me there.

Ponder vs Detroit, Freeman vs Jags or Dalton vs Texans?
Ponder could get pulled at any second and Dalton faces one of the toughest Ds in the land. I would ride Freeman.

I Need to start three in PPR out of: Michael Bush vs GB, Helu vs NE, DJax vs Miami, and Mcgahee vs Chicago.
Bench DJax. He could have a big game but you can't count on it. If you want to bench one of the RBs, pick Bush. I think there's mounting evidence the Raiders have checked out on their season.

I am going with LaFell and the Bills combo. Do or die!

ps: It would be helpful if Brady stops giving Gronk all the TD love. How about some scraps for Hernandez!?!?!

If the fantasy gods wish to punish me for "ubertanking" than Brady will stop giving Gronk all the TD love.
Of course, I own Hernandez in the Economy league so I'd probably be fine with that.

Incidentally, Washington lost their only other starting tackle to an injury during pre-game warmups so I inserted Vick back into my lineup and dumped Grossman back to the wire.
Would not be surprised if he puts up similar numbers to what Palko did against the Pats on Monday Night Football.

This doesn't impact anyone in the NQ3 leagues aside from Sumidor and myself but the fantasy scoring in Yahoo! has effectively stalled since Tebow hacked his way into Marion Barber's soul.

Should correct itself shortly... I actually think I'm down by more points than what is currently showing up on the board.

Some closer matchups underway in the Economy league so there's definitely impact there as well. I'm actually looking good there right now.
