NeoGaf's first NeoCosplay Thread. Muahahaha

Yep. They also could have used a ton more registration stations.

Also, is there a GAF meetup tomorrow?

No meetup that I'm aware of.

Still processing my set from today, but here's yours! Flash was a bit more powerful than I thought, so sorry about the flaring on the cards!

Yeah, that line was ridiculous. Really wish Fanime wasn't so strict about photographer press credentials so I could've avoided that crap, haha. You'd think they'd know to have more people working that area after all these years.

Not big on meet-ups since I tend to enjoy covering things from the sidelines, but if all the NeoGAF cosplayers at Fanime wanted to meet at some point on Saturday or Sunday, post a time and I'll do what I can to run by and grab a few shots!

Argh I didn't recognize you! Hopefully today I can say hi. I need to keep my chin down during photos... Thank you for the photo! :D

Here's a photo taken after I finished sewing and getting ready yesterday.

It was nice meeting up with Egnirys to say hi.

Quite serendipitous catching her in the hallway.
I was so confused at first! I've gotten use to people saying Elizabeth so it caught me off guard being called another E name. Good to meet another gaffer. I hope you enjoy the rest of the con despite the hiccups.

Hey man!

You actually ran into us at NY comicon last year, took pics of SouSouRocket in her gears outfit. I don't suppose you have the shots still?

Sure do, check your inbox.

Nice running into Egnirys again today during the Atlus gathering. Took about 500 shots total today, could've done more but spent a little too long waiting for certain gatherings to begin. Now for another long night of photo editing...

Nice meeting you too, but sorry about confusing you for a second. Must have thought some random guy was creeping though heh.

The rest of the con has been pretty fun. These shoes are killer on my feet though. Wish I could have met some other GAF peeps.

Hey DTJAM, I think if you are the person in your avatar. You did take some picture of my wife.

Anyways. Fanime was overall pretty awesome other than the pre reg line. I realized I don't even need to buy tickets next time. all I do is cosplay/help my wife cosplay. and usually it is photo shoot from noon when we are ready until 10 pm when everything is done. we do not really use the badge at all other than looking at the dealer hall once with out buying anything.

Here is a crappy iPhone picture before everything else is done.

Yup, that's me, and I do recall getting a photo of that costume. Just landed and got home, so I'm about to start plowing away at my backlog from the con.

Totally agree about the badge situation, as I did just fine last year when I went without one on Saturday. I didn't pre-reg and the line was too long, so I didn't want to waste valuable photo time, and I still came home with a huge amount of shots. There are always a few costumes that tend to hide in the dealer room/artist alley, so I usually do still buy one for when it comes time to scout around those places.

A friend of mine said that when you prereg online, click the box for pick up at clockwork alchemy to avoid big lines. Yes, you would need to stop by the double tree inn, but he got his badge in 5 minutes. The badge is good for both events.

I was keeping an eye out for you on Saturday but didn't see you around at all.

Yep, one of my friends did this and I cursed him out in five different languages. :(

Pity I didn't see Lucis or his wife running around either.

We didn't have time to go around inside the convention center at all, we did photo shoot after photo shoot, everytime we stop by at the place out side of the CC with shade to sit for a few min, someone approaches us wanting to do a photo shoot for my wife off site. it was either that or we had something scheduled. Sunday night we didn't get done until 10:50pm... Legs giving out

Oh I saw your wife when I was outside getting some fresh air. She looked great! I think I saw you, I wanted to say hi but you both looked really busy because of all the photographers.

Well, now that it's over, I guess I have some random thoughts on the con.

1. The Convention Center itself is located in a pretty nice area, although all that construction was kind of distracting.
2. I didn't really attend any panels at all.
3. Concert was fun, venue was not that great.
4. Lots and lots of cosplayers, some of which were pretty good.
5. Strict rules on peacebonding.
6. I need to lose weight if I want to cospa better.
7. Registration sucked, didn't know about that exploit until it was too late.
8. It was pretty nice meeting a fellow Gaffer.
9. Not sure if I'll go again to Fanime in the future.
10. I will probably be able to cospa more in the future if I can make it to cons with costumes and props in time.

It is cosplay.

The problem is that it is just BAD cosplay.

Not necessarily, its for-profit cosplay

They dont care about the characters, the community or even having a good time, they only care about getting subscribers to their camshows which in the era of free porn is the only really profitable market left.

This wasn't a problem 15 years ago because back then $40 for a crap porn video was the norm

The guys that took our pictures at the con asked if we wanted to take part in their photoshoot for Razer UK. I use their stuff so we went with it. I didn't expect them to use the photo though, the sandsurfers don't really have a wide range of emotions to display.

Lo and behold they actually did haha!

FanimeCon pics are going to take more effort than I'd like to complete. Hoping I'll get them all done before this weekend's journey to Denver Comic Con. Here's everything from Friday!

Oh, I'm not buying them. I don't even know who most of them are meant to be. It just interested me.

For the one cosplay I did I made the costume myself.

Nice one dude! I hope you realize your biggest misstep was not using an M92F or any Berreta M9 for a hand gun and instead using what looks like some springfield armory variant of the 1911. Other than that it looks fantastic!

Ha, thanks for the tip. I'll have to look for a replica M92F/Berreta air soft pistol or something that will be allowed in the convention.

Registration lines are awful at Fanime. I haven't really seen any good cosplay yet.

As a person that worked as staff for Fanime this year, the lines being awful is the due the fact
that registration was extremely understaffed on day zero. I have friends who worked in reg saying that they were so short of staff that there was no one to relieve of their shift.

hey you're from phoenix. i'm playing through RE6 right now and i was brainstorming maybe doing an RE cosplay for next year. i should do Piers i suppose (i kind of have the hair).

great costumes though, your wife(gf?) is an amazing sherry!

Yeah...well Arizona at least :) Nope don't know who this Sherry is, just some random girl but her costume was pretty good. RE costumes make you feel pretty badass walking around. Piers was a cool guy and the costume would be recognizable to RE fans with the scarf and all. Maybe you could implement his infected arm at the end!

I had heard something to this effect through the grapevine as well. There apparently wasn't enough registration staff on the morning of Day 1.

Yep also as it turns out, one of the ballrooms that were used for registration had an event going on that was unrelated to Fanime on day 0 and didn't finish til 5pm which also contributed to registration opening after 7pm since staff members from fanime, fairmont, and from the event had to dismantle and set up for registration in 2 hours which would usually take 4 hours to do.

my girlfriend and i went to creation star trek convention. Ill try to find better pics of someone who took some of us at the show. Neither of us have a decent camera right now

I did the nose peice and the ranking things and all of my make up. She made the suits. i just wore black slacks.

Don't know why, but this just made me laugh. Guess I wasn't expecting the YOLO.

Oh look, it's Mel Hoppe from "WindoftheStars" on the right. She's pretty awesome from all the things I've seen her cosplay in. Of course, might be a little bias, as she's a fellow Emilie Autumn fan. haha

Totally lagging behind on photos, but I finished my Saturday FanimeCon 2013 set. Still need to clear out Sunday before I get to my Denver Comic Con shots:

Dust an Elysium Tail, Skullgirls and Amnesia !

Yay indie game cosplay ! xD

Also, awesome use of materials on that Godzilla cosplay
