I originally offered $75, haha! It is a dudes wife that I'm talking to, and it's the dudes games, so I won't even try to convince her cause then they might start arguing and all that jazz. I just want those Megamans honestly, only even played X.
EDIT: I should add it comes with a system, so maybe $100 = $115 would be fair? Idk

With system maybe $85? There's only a few games I would consider good in there. Mega Man 4 not being one of those. If its on Craigslist just throw out whatever you're comfortable paying, and in a few weeks email back to see of they'll sell it for that. That's worked out pretty well for me.
Looking again at the games it's not even worth that.

yeah ive been reading up a lot on it, sounds like it's just red/browns mostly - maroon stuff like parts of level 2 in castlevania are more pinkish, but if the mod's done right, it doesn't seem to be much of a problem.
one detail i liked was stuff like kid icarus' hair supposedly going more brown threw some people off, until it was pointed out that everything from box art/back of box screen shots to promo stuff like nintendo power screens etc apparently very commonly were taken from RGB/playchoice shots, so in a way some of the changes can be thought of as more accurate, heh
Super Mario Bros. 3 is my favorite game on the NES and still one of my favorite games ever.

I may be crazy, but I just ordered a copy of Donkey Kong Pie Factory from Retrozone. It's a hacked version that puts the cement/pie factory level back in and some of the cutaways; similar to the Euro 3DS eshop version.
Also been playing a lot of Tengen Ms. Pac-Man lately. So much better than the Namco version.

I went to the mall with my mom when I was 10 or so, and I had conned her into buying a game for me. I wanted a baseball game, and I had my heart set on Bases Loaded. The guy at the game store said I didn't want it, and that he had something better.
It looked goofy, but I listened to the guy and bought it. Best. Decision. Ever. Baseball Stars is so good that it is better than its own NES sequel, and hands down the best baseball game for NES. You could even name your players and team! So awesome.
I wish I remembered that game store guy's name so I could shake his hand and thank him for making my childhood just a bit more awesome.

Finally dug out my old collection from my parents house. I lost a lot of my old systems and games when my parents had yard sales but they didn't sell my NES. I'm still missing a box of games though.
Here is a pic of the games that I had that survived from my childhood that are CIB.
Here is the system along with some accessories I have.
I have a lot more games that have only the cart and instructions.
Guess I'll be spending a lot of time cleaning everything, testing it, and working on a place to display them on my shelf (time for a new shelf!).

Cut pin four on the lockout chip today on an NES that had rejected my attempts to clean the 72-pin. Wow. I know it's only supposed to work to fix the blinking, but it's definitely made the deck less glitchy too... I didn't even know my copy of Pinball worked!
Tempted to do the same on another that isn't giving problems, but does sometime do the blinky...

yeah, ive been actively researching the RGB mod & was asking my modder if he could swing it, as well as replace the pins/board (to make it like new) and cut the lockout chip, he said he could install a switch to disable it & reenable as needed, which i thought was cool even if i read it's only a handful of games affected by its absence.
today's project was kind've a bust, i borrowed my brother's dremel to hack away at universal game case edges & make NES carts fit...didn't happen. the best bit for it was a small cylinder to cut metal, and it's just not a good fit for the job - the speed it needs to cut through here gives me less control than i'd want & doesnt really make or a clean cut anyway. i wish i could think of an easier way to manage this, it's tough plastic so exacto/etc knives didn't really do it for me either.

Of course. I have an RGB modded A/V Fami, and I use an adapter to play all my US NES carts. Looks stunning on both of my RGB monitors.

^is the famicom any easier to RGB mod than the NES?
Don't know first hand as I bought mine already modded, I would guess due to it's smaller size it might be a bit more tricky. But you might want to look into an A/V Fami if you're planning on going RGB, the video output is excellent for the mod.

Finally got our old NES to work on my brothers 65'' HDTV with the regular cables lol. What a blast, I have lost my touch though. I sucked lol.

Hey, if you're playing on an HDTV at least you can blame input lag instead of your skill atrophying.
Not only could you name everybody, but you could manage all their stats too. It was like Baseball: the RPG. You had to decide whether to sign veterans with pretty high initial stats but little additional potential, or rookies with crappy initial stats and huge potential. You had to decide whether to put points into power hitting or great fielding. There was even ways to farm additional cash by playing against the all-ladies team (with its big attendance stats) and abuse the mercy rule by hitting 13 batters in a row.
I was never much of a sports gamer in general, but Baseball Stars was awesome.

Yeah the lag was unbelievable. Mike Tysons punch-out was pretty funny though. But it did start to get annoying after a while.
Do you get jailbars? I also have an RGB modded AV Famicom and i get slight jailbars visible on some one colored backgrounds.

yeah, a lotta my recent RGB mod research has been on jailbars, they don't seem to happen to everyone but i can't quite sort out what's causing them
I think it might have to do with a lot of things. It could be the RGB cable itself or the display it is being hooked up to. The most probable cause might be due to different amps/resistors being used. I think my modder went with the sharpest-possible-with-minimal-jailbars-route because he knew i would hook it up to the XRGB-Mini, wich eliminates the jailbars when the Low Pass Filter is activated. The picture i get with my system is one of the sharpest i have seen. I know there are some amps/resistors that blurs the picture a little bit, and that might be preferable to some but not for me.

ah, i might need details on your modder then, man! that's the exact setup i've got & wanna run this on when ive the $ to get the component installed...also, is the low pas filter an automatic thing? ive still gotta mess with the settings on this upscaler.
It's topics like this and the realization that mods meant to improve video quality are so wicked expensive, that make me hope that Hyperkin's Retron 5 actually pans out. A machine that plays actual carts but that has user-tweakable video options and update capabilities...yes, please.

The LPF is activated automatically when choosing either STANDARD or GAME1 image modes on the Mini. You should avoid using these two modes for most 240p and 480i/p sources as it "incurs a severe loss in image detail". For example, on 16-bit systems it can blur out some fine detail in backgrounds or sprites. However, the RGB modded NES/Famicom is not affected by this other than removing the jailbars. I guess this is due to it being an 8-bit system and that there is not enough detail to lose to begin with

The simple rule i follow is to use image mode PICTURE for everything except the RGB modded NES/Famicom.

Just picked up a used A/V Famicom over the weekend. It's wonderful. I had an a/v modded Famicom, but I was sick of the jailbars. The signal is not only really clean, but much brighter and more colorful. It looks glorious. I just wish it were easier to use it for NES games.
The system was 5800 yen for what was presumably complete in box, but the store pulled out the cables and ac adapter to sell seperately. Thankfully, it uses the same a/v cables and ac adapter as the Super Famicom I already have, so I was able to save the extra 2000 yen. While the box was beat up, the sysem and controllers were wrapped in plastic and in perfect shape.

Are you sure they pulled the cables?
In Japan Famicoms and Super Famicoms were sold without AC adapters and AV cables. You only got the console and controllers, and had to purchase the hookups separately. This was done because certain classifications of electronics are taxed differently.
I guess it continues today because Japanese 3DSes aren't sold with AC adapters.

Well it says "TEMPORARILY SOLD OUT" so I'd assume there will be another run. I'd imagine it's probably stupid expensive though.

Was any of the 'RPG" like elements found in the Neo-Geo version of Baseball Stars... (trying to decide which way to go...which version to buy)
I don't think either Neo-Geo title has any sort of team editing feature.

Wow, that Metroid Famicom Disk game is brand new, never been open. Still has the little cute Famicom man thing sticker on it. I carefully peeled it away a bit to open it. And the plastic slabs are still very stiff, aka never opened. I now almost want to keep it that way and reseal it. But my wanting to view the manual is very high right now.. tough decision. lol.

Here a little bit of info for emulation freaks out there (if there is). Someone on GAF justed pointed to me there's a way to rip NES carts that is not the rare CopyNES and it's cheap on top of it all!

Ok, I took a whole bunch of pictures last night of the manual and games as I thought the pictures in the manuals were fascinating. I'll show off a few I liked below. But feel free to check out my gallery on it, I have more there. I took the pictures the best I could without bending them. Esp as the Metroid one is brand new. Anyways.
Neither had i as they were never released in Europe. Lately i've been digging for gems in the NES/Famicom library and this one seems to be a nice Contra clone.

Just looks like a bunch of commons to me. Hard to tell what all of them are, but I don't see anything that I would drive very far for. Rc pro am, 720, and that may be tmnt 3 in that short row(not positive) are the only things I would be interested in. But none of those would be worth gas really. Any idea what those genesis games are?
