Cool, thanks, some are new indeed. Pity they're quite small.

The 3 titles that are coming on the 24th - any guess as to whether they're new? Sounds like they might be.

I think I have seen that one. Not sure though. It looks like a snapshot from the xbox 360 video btw with the blueish tint.

Thats my guess also

Can't wait to see that one in person. That still crushes every other 360 title I've seen to date into the ground. FROM really knows their visuals (well, these days). The two Otogi games on XBOX were especially stand out last gen...

It's coming out for the 360 aswell (Project Force = Armored Core 4)

I know it's coming out for 360. I thought that WAS the lead platform. I had forgotten that there was a PS3 announcement as well.

That's what I'm saying. FROM's 360 work blows away everything else we've seen to date (on the 360).

Arf, I read it wrong then! ;)

The trailers for both systems have minimal difference if any, it's just that the PS3 one has the building being sliced which I would imagine will still be in both versions.

whats with the bottom. it seems, that there will be new game revealings on 01.24.2006.

edit: gofreak already mentioned that. didnt i say, that a german mag will have scope on new ps3 games at the end of the month. thats another evidence here!

Not really.

GOW looks better.

I don't think it does.

Unlike GoW, AC4 animates like a dream while also displaying all sorts of very high quality effects and (especially) lighting. Basically, AC4 looks like a CG movie in motion while Gears of War moves like a PC game from 2003 with a shell from 2006. AC4 also operates at a perfect framerate while GoW struggles to even reach 30 fps. Screenshots alone do not tell the whole story.

This situation has existed time and again on the previous platforms with many more detailed looking titles struggling with their framerates, displaying shit animation, and generally looking clunky while less complex titles overcome their limitations and display something truly amazing.

I guess we'll agree to disagree, but I think that rain level with the mine shafts in GOW is the best realtime game footage I've seen and its a demo of someone actually playing the game unlike AC4 which is a series high impact scenes for a trailer.

The rain sequence demonstrates exactly what I'm talking about. The framerate is awful, the rain is cheap looking (can anybody beat MGS2?!), and the animation is poor. Yet, at the same time, aspects of it are truly unrivaled. It offers some of the most impressive visuals (and, potentially, atmosphere) coupled with issues that would have been considered poor 5 years ago. It's simply too uneven for its own good.

As I said in my edit, this same situation has existed this entire generation. I much prefer something that does everything really well rather than something that does a few things extremely well while failing at others.

I suppose you're right about it being a trailer, though. It's just that, it's the first and only 360 title I've seen in motion that truly blew me away. It looked like a CG render to me, but apparently it isn't. Based on what they did with XBOX last gen, I simply made an assumption that it will match that quality upon release. Not exactly fair, really. We'll just have to wait and see.

I'm hoping that Japanese developers maintain their higher framerate standards this generation as well. 60 fps was far FAR more common from Eastern developers this previous round, and thus far on 360, the situation is the same.

TTP mentioned something about the new Medal of Honor game, about EA lifting their embargo on it in January - I bet that's one of the games.

Personally I'm a high visual fidelity, iq guy. So 30fps is fine with me as long as the image is clean. To each his own. Maybe we'll get both.

Hopefully they have actually responded to Call of Duty 2 by making the game fun again. Are they actually going to announce the 360 version or pretend it's a PS3 exclusive still?

Exclusive FTW!! :lol

I don't think they're even pretending, all they've said is that they're building it to take advantage of the PS3. Hey maybe they'll give teh 360 a different version like they're doing with FN on the PS3. :P

It looks awesome but I'm pretty sure they are from the trailer. I can't remember which trailer though since the 360 and PS3 ones weren't the same.

it looks like art direction will make huge difference next gen. look at the realtime demos that have been created in the west and in japan; they are technically in the same league but japanese ones look much better because of the art direction and their better overall presentation.

Actually, after seeing the semi-high res trailer I am no longer impressed by BD =/

However, it is true that next gen art will decide which games do look better than the rest. The more effects you have=the more chances to fuck it over. As simple as that. There are few things more insulting to my eyes than developers slapping HDR and normal mapping without knowing how to use them properly.

I use to think the same way regarding the two games, until that last GoW vid. Imo, Gears is clearly far ahead of all other 360 games from a graphical standpoint. That is, if they can get the framerate locked at at least 30 fps.

What semi-high res trailer of BD....link Please??

People have been using the one core excuse for ever now. Epic said in that interview WAY BACK that they were moving the game beyond 1 core, after considering the gap between then and now, that statement no longer applies.

What are you talking about? They made that statement during the 360 desert launch and the build they showed was the one running on one core.

Well I think GR:AW looked better when it was unveiled. But this is certainly up there.

It was still on one core at X05, and we haven't seen any new builds since then.

They haven't shown a version since then, and it wasn't WAY BACK, it was only around 2 months ago.

Oh hehe, you've been bitchslapped by others already. Ah well, I'll still hit the submit button.

Actually, I could see that. The original concept trailer at E3 was stunning (for GRAW)...but ended up being fake. The actual game is nowhere near that quality (especially in terms of animation and effects). That giant building explosion was so promising...

m0dus said:
The original concept trailer wasn't fake. it was finished. What has been seen since then (at X05) were incomplete (multiplayer, believe) stages in completely different settings, without any of the final graphic effects/filter/lighting, etc.

But BACK TO ARMORED CORE 4 . . .
I thought they said it was fake, however.

That would have explained why the current build looks so much worse (not the multiplayer stuff, but actual single player footage). The most recent trailer will show you plenty of single player footage and you can easily see that it is not the same. It looks good, but animates very badly and the effects aren't particularly amazing anymore.

They confirmed it was real, but said that as they started looking at real in-game situations, they needed to start scaling things back and were currently working on bringing things back up to the E3 video.
