In a stroke of near genius or total insanity, Capcom announced that the latest entry in its courtroom battle series, tentatively titled Gyakuten Saiban will be hitting US shores this summer.

:lol

I'll buy it!

Beatdown looks promising (though I'm keeping my expectations low given it's from Scarab) and Gyakuten Saiban is a nice surprise (it'll probably be called 'Objection Court' here I imagine as Capcom USA trademarked it awhile back). Outside that though, what a let down.... no Capcom Arcade Collection or Viewtiful Joe DS? :(

That's actually awesome news. I've always wanted to play those games.

Yeah, it is awesome news. I really will buy it. I just thought it was funny that Gamespot reacted to that news in that way. This game will get a collective WTF from the American public, except for the three GAF members who call it GOTY.

I'm really surprised they're bringing Gyakuten out in the US.

You're not used to it yet?

Oh, hey, since I saw the acronymn up there:

If the Gamecube is GCN, shouldn't the Nintendoods be DSN? Consistency, people*!

*not all people

Well, "Without Warning" and "Beat Down" are exactly the kind of games you don't put on the GC if you want any kind of sales at all, so that's not surprising. Capcom may have one or two more GC-oriented titles still coming, but at this point it looks pretty doubtful.

Unison: yeah, I agree. It definitely fits in with the other Capbombs as far as sales potential goes.

No - you don't put them on any console, period. They look so bland and uninspired; who in their right mind is going to buy this???

Yeah, they'll likely flop. But a GC version would probably flop so badly that Capcom would lose money just thinking about making it.

Killer 7 was at the show too, playable for the first time. It's under embargo until later in the month though I think. Not sure if it's still GC exclusive in the US though, maybe Capcom and SCEA came to an 'understanding'?

Why does Beat Down look like a 1 on 1 fighting game?
Probably because it's a 3D beat 'em up and the demo was pretty limited in scale. Massiveattack revealed it was actually one of a bunch of Japanese games Activision had been funding and suddenly dropped awhile back.

The developer, Scarab has pretty bad history though. They did the crappy DC port of Fighting Vipers 2, the Giant Gram games and Dinosaur Hunting on Xbox. :/

Is there another RE in the works? I sure hope so.
So far only...

-Resident Evil Outbreak: File #2 (PS2)
-Resident Evil 4 (PS2)

...I could see Outbreak or RE4 getting ported to Xbox, and the RE4 team mentioned wanting to do another game using the RE4 engine on Gamecube... but I don't think we'll see RE5 until next gen.

RE4's producer ruled out that option. With Xbox 2 likely at the end of the year and with Nintendo and Sony to follow suit sometime in 2006, there's just isn't time to kick another one out.

Seriously, this is crap. Some people acted in the other thread as if something awesome went down(Kobun's "Holy hell!")....

I don't want this to sound like trolling - but no wonder Nintendo refused to invest in Capcom; they're a sinking ship. :lol

Ummm bah buh.......disappointing.......these shows are a continous disappointment.
It seems fans have to pray them to show something valid.......

Holy shit, this was no where near expected, fucking awesome, I've been wanting to place this in English for so long, and the game looks nice too. I'm happy.

I think that was a reaction to other posters' behavior in the thread, not to whatever was or wasn't shown at the event.

Holy hell, catering to the Western audience and still gonna flop

is probably what Kobun meant.

Talk about a collection of soulless games. Well, Haunting Ground may be okay, Chunk there notwithstanding.

$50 Killer7/RE4 two-pack for PS2, with Dante as an unlockable character in RE4 and Leon as an unlockable character in K7

Fairly dissapointing all round really. Though, the GS write up for the Demento demo seems encouraging, amongst other things...

*ahem*
