New DMC4 Screens -- Does Wario say wow?

Seriously.

Two characters on screen? Big f*cking deal!

I don't care what sort of bells and whistles are present, flare, blur, ass-mapping, linear testicular gradient filtering. . . demand more from developers, or you'll only have yourself to blame when all you're playing are slightly prettier versions of the crap you played last gen!

Yes the game will only have TWO characters on screen, Dante and some other guy, the entire game. This is NOT a boss-fight.

Go play with yourself.

I was impressed to know that the game engine is capable of handling Dead Rising amount of enemies. PSW3 described a scene where you're grappling above and along buildings, and the streets are filled with "thousands of enemies on screen at once." as they put it.

So DMC4 is : Lost Planet + Dead Rising + 60 fps + 1080p + DMC4's superior art and design team.

Sounds good.

Yep! Sounds beautiful!? ^__^

Ground textures and fire effects look quite poor. But then Lost Planet was never a looker in screenshots, but in motion, it was somethin else. And add in the 60fps, I have no doubt this will look great.

needs more blur.

Ugh, see this is one of the problems I have, I hate how people are comparing it's visuals to Lost Planet. No one ever did that to DMC1 or 3, no one compared their visual style to other games, because it was it's own thing. This whole reused engine thing Capcom is doing is perhaps the only bad choice they have made this gen in my eyes. I just wish DMC4 was it's own complete special unique thing. It really deserves to be.

It looks utterly amazing to me and nothing anyone says will ever change that. But the lost planet comments are just annoying. Ugh...

Looks awesome. But I think self shadowing and some better lighting would make it look 10 times better.

The only, and main reason why is because its using some if not all of the lost planet engine plus whatever capcom have done to it since the end of last year, aka improved it.

And tbh there is NOTHING wrong, if you seen lost planet in motion you know dmc4 is going to look the bomb when it comes to effects.

i think the lost planet resemblance mostly comes from the design of that boss -- glowy orange spikes against a blue-black body. he bleeds orange too.

Pretty sure thats a lava effect...

I mean what else should a huge monster engulfed in flame and ash bleed really?

well, imo, id rather it compared to lost planet (one of the best looking games ever, period.) than looking bad, like the ps2 games were. dmc 1/3 were ****ing fantastic games, but graphical (technical) masterpieces, they were not.

DMC1 was unbelievable for its time.

DMC3 while it didn't look graphically impressive, its technical feats is beyond boundaries. It is wonderous at how Capcom managed to fit 100's of moves available to the player on the fly while having so many enemies on the screen animating seamlessly on the PS2's hardware.

This game looks amazing. I don't see how people say otherwise. Its 1080p, 60FPS and gorgeous to boot.

Now how about we have a Nero/Dante co-op online? (Yes I know it'll never happen).

DMC1 still holds up to this day, and it was one of the better looking games when it came out. DMC3 isn't the greatest looking game, but, in spots...it blows a lot of other games out of the water(I.E. Inside Leviathan, the elevator, Hell, etc..). They weren't exactly masterpieces, but, they were moving at 60fps proper, and that was a lot better than some.

thats fine if you think the dmc games were a TECHNICAL feat, but i dont. i think it has a lot more to do with the art. in the same way that ico/sotc looked so good. i personally didnt think any dmc game looked "technically" good. thats all :) good art sometimes (most times) overshadows bad tech

As I've consistently maintained sine before we even saw the first media of this game... it is nothing remotely special in the graphics department and it never will be. Oh Capcom, you really need to spruce up your engine, it's failing hard.

That said, this will still be one of the absolute best games this year.

Underwhelming graphics... but who cares; as long as it follows DMC3 steps in terms of gameplay and challenge, it's going to be awesome.

Pretty much. That's what I was trying to say and people jump on me and label "multiplatform troll". Jesus ****, this has nothing to do with this game being ported to 360. Had these screens be called Crysis 2, DX10 exclusive !!! I would still call'em how I see'em - pretty bad looking texture and polywise.

Still the game will be great and to be honest with you I think some cuts had to be made to allow for 1080p 60 fps glory (still has NOTHING to do with 360 version). I mean that needs some SERIOUS fillrate.

Looks Lost-Planetish : Clean and effects-heavy ! Excellent job, Capcom. Bring in the 60 fps smoothness baby !

no kidding. I'd rather have a game like this fast & 60 fps than piling on more textures & 30fps.

Plus i love the effects in the game. Lair needs to get some of that fire in its game!

I skipped 2 and 3, this looks promising. The original was loads of fun, definitely looking forward to getting back into some juggling fun, lets hope for more twisted puppets. Out of curiosity sakes, any idea what platform these screens are taking from?

All shots have been from the PS3 version so I doubt this is any different. Now go buy DMC3.

Simple thought process : Lost Planet looked great, Dead Rising looked great, DMC4 is with a more updated engine, 60 fps, better art design with a more talented development team with probably a larger budget. By natural logic, it'll look better than two already graphically revered titles.

Maybe it will. But right now those screens just look OK at best to me.
