I don't see why they couldn't outsource some advice from people more in the know, its not the same as outsourcing art or design. I get what you are saying generally but I don't think that applies here, I don't understand how just having someone who can say "here is a better algorithm for anti-aliasing the game output" would in any way affect the artistic vision.
Maybe not even something like that, which would argurably slightly alter the final output of the game (and therefore overall artistic vision) by making it smoother, what about just someone who understands how to implement proper frame-pacing, most of the fan patch notes for bad framepacing fixes in japanese games I've read seem to suggest simple mistakes or oversights that the devs could've fixed in a day or two with no compromises. I'm talking about stuff like that, not like using a different engine or anything, more just optimising the engine they've built.
I was also thinking of Nintendo, like their games but just rendered at much higher resolution and locked 60fps makes them a load more enjoyable imo. There are no barriers to enjoying the art then, I don't want to ever think about that stuff when I'm playing, like not being able to make something out in the distance due to lack of detail & aliasing or losing control for a second/missing out on half the animation frames when the framerate dips, obviously its not game breaking, we've dealth with it for decades now but we're at a point where we really don't need to deal with it anymore so I dream of that perfect world.
A couple more generations and we probably won't have to deal with such issues just as standard but I know some of that stuff could easily be fixed now, with minimal effort. Its just not a big priority for them.
