New Elden Ring Images from Geoff

Absolutely nothing from FROM... they are technically terrible.

Horizon 2, Ratchet, TLOU 2, RDR, etc, etc, etc.. this looks like a last gen game through and through

FROM games are not top graphics games , the best looking Souls game is Demons Souls remaster made by BP.

Elden Ring will look nice but do not expect a Horizont level.

My most anticipated game, might even freeze myself until January.

Design >>> All else.

Been playing Zelda SS and it's one of the most aesthetically pleasing games I've played in a while...and it's like? Little less than a decade old?

I haven't played it, but SS looks soo good from what I have seen.

Want to play it just for art style.

Still something about this thing makes it look/feel like a shitty phone app, it might be the generic UI or the repetitive background scrolling in a few scenes.

From doesn't usually do this style of trickle hype for games, this is a shitty weird new thing for them.

i love the enemy/boss designs but it's not that crazy to imagine stuff like that up. plus this is obviously based on norse myth. sekiro is based on sengoku japan, bloodborne has a lot of lovecraftian stuff, and dark souls is just crazy medieval shit. so it's not like they are pulling it straight out their ass. they got a lot of stuff to reference.

It doesnt matter what setting games are based on i mean look at GOW for example they use north myth aswell, now compare their monster design to ER. They're not even in the same league. There're other games who use the same mythos or setting, still FROM tops all of them.
Let's just say it out loud, FROM devs are worship the devil 👹. There's no other explanation. 😄

I wasn't excited about it at first, it looked like DS4 to me and not much different. But I do like the Art Direction.

I got nipples Geoff, can you milk me?

Don't kill me, but imho it just looks like Dark Souls with a bit worse artstyle
Hey, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But I respectfully disagree on both points.

The Souls series has always screamed Berserk influence. But this screams it more and louder than ever. So hyped.

So you only mention the best graphics from last gen and this gen...you're either too picky/demanding and play only top tier graphics games or are being disingenuous. I mean, Elden Ring is the best looking From Software game so far just by the trailer and pictures shown and it is a cross-gen title, and also from a not a top-tier AAA developer. Do you enjoy other games that aren't top graphical showcases? Top graphics aren't everything.

After just playing Demon's Souls a little earlier today, I'm looking at these Elden Ring screenshots and coming away pretty impressed for a crossgen game. The character and enemy models look like they are on the same level as Demon's Souls to me. The ground and some of the textures look like they could be a little behind Demon's Souls, but overall Elden Ring looks great.

The atmosphere, artistic design, environment detail, world design, enemy and scenario design, combat mechanics, character animations, combat balance, progression and class balance, world and character lore, gameplay variety, satisfying and fair fighting and environmental challenges, mystery, awe of discovery, difficulty arc balancing, variety of gameplay, awesome level design, puzzles, secrets, camaraderie with fellow warriors through interactive ways of communication (like messages, bloodstains), companionship, duels, mischief. From Software is a top tier developer in all of that. Their games don't need to look like Horizon or RDR2. Hell, RDR2, Witcher 3, Cyberpunk, Assassin's Creed etc, they are garbage in many, many aspects I listed above, some of them more crucial to a game than more polygons and shaders.

The only thing that is worrying a bit in the Gameplay behind scenes impression is that they are all saying its too similar to Dark Souls, i mean i dont really mind that since Dark Souls is one of my favorite games ever but im expecting much more than that, I'm expecting a rich and innovative open world with at least 1 or 2 towns and npcs to interact with and things to do more than just fighting monsters. I hope there will be more of that, if not then its fine but it will be a wasted opportunity, Im expecting this game to be as they said the final form of all Fromsoft games and combines all they have learned, it needs to be the ultimate masterpiece imo.

it's been a while since I've played a good open world game. This is looking like it's gonna be the only thing I play for a long time. Still playing Bloodborne to this day.

Man that looks rough. Bland and drab lighting. Poor looking character models. Just an ugly presentation. Even the art style cant save them this time like it did with DS3 and Sekiro.

It's their first open world game so thats to be expected, but my god they shouldve never made last gen versions. The lighting engine looks atrocious.

I am not easily impressed after seeing Demon's Souls (it looks vastly superior, IMO), but the art, the design in the worldbuilding is very nice. I only wish FROM would hire more/better asset creators in order to up their game. It has the imagination of FROM, but lacks the detail of Bluepoint.

I'm not going to lie those video's dampened my enthusiasm a bit although I'm sure it will still be a masterpiece. I was hoping for more of a revolution of the Souls formula rather than an evolution which is what it looks like. I'm suffering from bit of Souls fatigue. The open world additions don't really seem to be what I was envisioning and I'm wondering if they'll add much to the formula.

Also, let's be honest, nothing topped Bloodborne in terms of art style. I would have actually preferred a sequel that upped the exploration and maybe let you ride a horse and carriage :messenger_fire: This seems more like Dark Souls with a mount, which is still cool I guess.

Who am I kidding though I'll still probably put 100 hours into this :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:

In terms art direction and enemy/boss design I VASTLY prefer Elden Ring. For me I hated the changes Bluepoint made to some of the visuals and enemy re-designs.

If I'm not liking the aesthetics, no amount of tech gonna change that.

Just wet my pants , brb cleaning myself first :messenger_hushed:

This is some cool looking outfit , cant wait for to do Fashion-souls , i mean Fashion-ring

I loved almost everything they did, but that's just personal taste.

But I don't think we can argue that the DETAIL in the assets was phenomenal. The dirt and vines and folliage in the pillars in Demon's Souls almost makes the game look like concept art. Here, you can see some pillars from Elden Ring, and they boringly plain in terms of detail, like a PS3 game.

From gets way too many passes for shit technical skills. I like the Souls games, but they are also janky AF.

Don't really care about technical detail, FROM's environments and enemy/boss design vastly superior to how Blupoint did it with Demon's Souls remake but in GAF majority of people are graphic whores, so high tech graphics is much more important to them.

I will play this game. Still it looks like a PS3 game or early PS4 game. I hope it comes with free frame pacing issue. I like souls games but i´m not excited.

There are far better looking games out there if you are into that. For me, I much prefer if they focus their resources on art design, gameplay and world building rather than graphics.

These aren't indie games, why are they not held to the same standard of every other AAA game?
