I love realism, but games like this and Hades shows that it's not always about that to have a dope game. After playing Psychonauts 2, I kinda appreciate level design , and art style more than hyper realism , this looks neat.

I just hope from can deliver a technically sound game. There is always some issue to them.
I understood this reference.Still something about this thing makes it look/feel like a shitty phone app, it might be the generic UI or the repetitive background scrolling in a few scenes.
From doesn't usually do this style of trickle hype for games, this is a shitty weird new thing for them.
Hearing Aoife from Eurogamer describing the game made me hard.![]()
And the games would take twice as long to make, twice as expensive and most likely not make as much more profit. I'd rather they keep doing what they do and how they do it.I am not easily impressed after seeing Demon's Souls (it looks vastly superior, IMO), but the art, the design in the worldbuilding is very nice. I only wish FROM would hire more/better asset creators in order to up their game. It has the imagination of FROM, but lacks the detail of Bluepoint.
Because FROM aren't your "typical" AAA devs, they rather put resource on more important things rather try to appeal to graphic whores that have childish argument over few pixels. These aren't indie games, why are they not held to the same standard of every other AAA game?
No offense, but that doesnt make any sense. Hyperrealism or realism is indeed a type of art style. It's just that you just prefer the art direction in Psychonauts 2 and Elder Ring. After playing Psychonauts 2, I kinda appreciate level design , and art style more than hyper realism , this looks neat.
Agreed. It's all art direction.I love realism, but games like this and Hades shows that it's not always about that to have a dope game.
Well, my point wasn't analyzing how much work it would take, but rather how inferior Elden Ring looks texture-wise to Demon's Souls. And the games would take twice as long to make, twice as expensive and most likely not make as much more profit. I think they do alright. It's not the textures though. I mean, the are mostly high res and very detailed, they are lacking in shaders, mesh shaders, geometry, the lighting does wonders for games, it certainly does for Demon's Souls Remake. Also particle effects are poor even for last gen standards.Well, my point wasn't analyzing how much work it would take, but rather how inferior Elden Ring looks texture-wise to Demon's Souls.
Again, don't bash me, hardcore Souls nutcase here, Elden Ring sticks to the tradition of highly imaginative locations and enemy designs. But in terms of TEXTURES, From simply can't keep up with the times, is all I'm saying.

So there are no AAA games that are both technically competent and have great gameplay? Your response only validates my take.Because FROM aren't your "typical" AAA devs, they rather put resource on more important things rather try to appeal to graphic whores that have childish argument over few pixels.
Well lets look at games like God of War (2018) compare to Bloodborne. Even tho both got released in PS4, GOW is above Blooborne from tech side, but when comes to enemy/boss variety, it soooooo blow Bloodborne that its sad.So there are no AAA games that are both technically competent and have great gameplay? I don't think the poster was actually saying that, but I will.So there are no AAA games that are both technically competent and have great gameplay? Your response only validates my take.
It's not even because it's cross-gen. All of the Soulsborne games have had pretty bad lighting.Shame this is so clearly cross gen. The lighting looks so flat
Looks in game.Is this artwork or ingame?
I like that I have to ask this.

I ask because the placement of everything is just perfect. The dragon, the moon, the gold tree, the splash.I'm not trashing the game, but come on; let's not get overly-hyped.
The jaggies, clipping, and low-res textures are a dead giveaway. This is potentially an in-game screenshot, but it looks more like a frame-capture from a gameplay video.
A feathered dragon is sick, though. I don't think I've ever seen that in a game before.
I agree that most AAA games don't have good gameplay, but some do. I just want to see From step up their game.I don't think the poster was actually saying that, but I will.
I'm sure I'm missing one or two out there, but I I'd argue that AAA games don't have great gameplay. They used to, back in the day; but not anymore.
Though it depends, of course, on how you define "great."
For me, it's things like legitimate - but fair - challenge, intricate level-design, unique encounters, proper AI behavior, emergent gameplay, etc.
Almost all AAA games have completely "good" gameplay, for sure. It does exactly what it's supposed to do, and it's exceptionally competent at its job.
But "great" gameplay? I don't about that. I'm sure I'm missing one or two that aren't coming to mind at the moment, but the vast majority of AAA games are certainly not "great." It honestly feels like we're getting to the point where many AAA games are essentially all the same handful of games, just with a different theme put on top of them.
That being said, Elden Ring looks like a very minor step up from Dark Souls 3, graphically, which is a bit disappointing. I'm going to inevitably be obsessed with this game no matter what, but nicer graphics certainly wouldn't hurt.
I command thee KNEEL!Don't kill me, but imho it just looks like Dark Souls with a bit worse artstyle
While I had to endure 15 minutes of Vaati, you're absolutely right.Vaati's video has now got me way overhyped for this. It sounds like Souls crossed with BotW and Ghost of Tsushima.

The lack of shadows on anything is super datedhonestly if somebody told me ps3>ps4 crossgen title i would believe them, looks terrible.
Great Kingpin reference. These images are definitely worthy of some rock hard Amish nipples.
and does it look bad ?Absolutely nothing from FROM... they are technically terrible.
Horizon 2, Ratchet, TLOU 2, RDR, etc, etc, etc.. this looks like a last gen game through and through

FROM can have this amount of enemy and boss types and variety of locations because they use their resource on things that are important instead wasting time on "pretty graphics".
Looks amazing, only weird thing is no mounting in Coop. That's such a random technical limitation lol
No coop horse riding?
